I'm wondering what we CAN do to stop all the gun violence, such as today in Sta. Clarita, CA. I do not want measures enacted which will inhibit my ability to own and carry guns. But with the intransigence of the NRA and its followers, the reactions we will get will not be to the liking of gun owners. It's time to engage in dialogue, on this and many issues. There was a time when we could do that, but the reasonable Republicans like Goldwater, Dole, McCain, Dirksen, etc., are no longer in government. Now we have a garbage scow full of corporate yes-men.

Do some research on those countries and then tell me how terrible they are. Take your pick: Canada, France, Japan, NZ, Denmark, UK, Germany.

No man can be "happy" if he is deprived of his private property...then again, perhaps there are a few folks who are fine with state granted property permissions.

In other words, private property is the foundation of our human existence. All humans seek to acquire the private property of their choosing without state interference. Our European cousins do not enjoy private property rights as we enjoy them here in the USA.

They are not permitted to own firearms for SD. You claiming to have lived in Europe must know this and yet you hold up Europe as the shinning castle on the hill where prosperity is concerned...typical of liberals and nothing but a distraction to avoid the difficult discussion of individual liberty.

The Founders created a document, that you apparently know little about, or know a great deal about but reject its fundamental tenants. I suspect the latter is the case rather than the former.

Individual liberty discussions are predicated on the acceptance that your fellow citizen may do whatever he desires within the confines of the law...and, that he does not violate your rights.

Liberals hate this concept because it is counter to their desire to hold you to their perceptions of societal norms.

Ignore the liberal who enjoys the benefits of our constitution while extolling the virtues of countries that deny our fundamental human rights...IOW, if Europe is all that and a bag of chips liberals are free to travel to their promised land of choice.

I don't see a whole lot of the limited powers covered by the Constitution and the Supreme Court is more than willing to support expansions of the State.

For "their" benefit? I think they are thinking about all the victims of mass shootings, an issue which concerns me as well. Doing nothing in response to this epidemic is not an option.

I don't believe that "they" can't be reasoned with. But, tell me, are the pro-gun contingents willing to talk, to be reasonable? With both sides exhibiting intransigence, nothing will be accomplished.

This is like most issues today in this country, and I think whichever side one is on on whichever issue, we have to find a way to communicate, cooperate and compromise. Just look at Congress! They get NOTHING done in the current climate. This has to change, for everyone's benefit.

I'd bet productive conversations could occur if it were set up so that both sides could talk, rather than scream at each other. I'm not saying this only in the context of the 2nd-A issues, but regarding everything.

Otherwise, what shall we do? Have another civil war? Oh that would be fun...

There is no middle ground to talk about. The RTKABA existed before this nation. And the constitution. Thd 2A grants nothing. It simply protects in one clear sentence that preexisting right to have, carry , use, any and all weapons that exist if one can acquire them.

Repeal of all gun regulation is ALL that is acceptable, or permitted by the constitution.
