• We are now running on a new, and hopefully much-improved, server. In addition we are also on new forum software. Any move entails a lot of technical details and I suspect we will encounter a few issues as the new server goes live. Please be patient with us. It will be worth it! :) Please help by posting all issues here.
  • The forum will be down for about an hour this weekend for maintenance. I apologize for the inconvenience.

The forum is now running on XenForo

Over the last 24 hours I have migrated the forum to a new server and, more interestingly, to a new software platform.

We have been using vBulletin 4 for a loooong time and it is at its end-of-life. vBulletin has a separate product (which you must buy new rather than being in the upgrade path) with which I was not impressed.

Since I had to spend money on an upgrade in any case, I spent quite a bit of time reviewing the options and am very happy with the choice I made in moving to XenForo.

As with any update, there will be growing pains. I beg your indulgence as we work our way through any issues.

Please report things you find in this thread or message me directly.

Thanks!

John

One thing that I have been made aware of ... If you username had a comma in it, the comma has been removed.

For example:

John Pierce, Esq.

Will now be

John Pierce Esq.

Lol. The software was developed by some of the former vBulletin developers so it should be similar in function. Hopefully it won't be too steep of a learning curve for any of us.

I don't see any provision to view posts in descending chronological order (newest on top). Is that no longer possible?

Solus,

It has been a long time coming. I am sure we will encounter some hiccups but I think it will be a big plus in the long run.

Small problem, but my avatar has been chopped removing one of the angel wings. Was rectangular but switching to square has messed it up

That happened to me as well. I had to replace my avatar. I am not sure why but I will look into it.
