About all you can do is find the school zones in your local neighborhood and mark off 1000 ft, other than that you are screwed. You could park your car, or walk into an unknown unmarked school zone.

OR you can use the tools available to force the muni to do its job...

If a public servant is not doing their job, do you simply ask them... "please do your job"???? Perhaps there IS a way you can use the courts as an INDIVIDUAL to INSIST they do their job. MAYBE if one checked the RULES they MIGHT find just such a way.

This person has made false and malicious claims about me that are not based on any sort of factual information at all. They are purely fabrications in his own very small mind. I also ask that he be a candidate for banning as nothing more than a troll, which he has demonstrated on several threads recently.

Gentlemen, this is exactly the type of bickering we must avoid. Our opponents would love nothing more than to point to this thread and use it as an example why we should not be allowed to exercise our rights. Unless they have RAS of a crime, they can't detain someone.
(They can ask you nicely to stop & talk with them, but they can't force you to stop, put your hands up, etc. as was done here. Well, they can't do it legally, and when they're caught their victims end up with some cash...)

Otherwise they could stop every driver to check for valid license, just because they know that some people drive without valid licenses.

1. they don't know the law (less likely, since you weren't falsely arrested)
or
2. they don't care about the law, and rule on high from a position of opinion (this is more likely)



All in all, sounds like you got a free ride home from the store (and an earful of opinions), too bad you didn't get your coke and chips first, because now you just have to walk back up there. Everything you did was completely legal and correct and you should have no fear of doing the correct thing again. I might have thanked the officers for their concern (and their opinions), declined the ride home (unless they waited for me to get back from inside), and proceeded into the store for my snack.

That is pretty stupid. Cops encounter people who "break the law" all the time and do not arrest them. It is called officer discretion.
