Nick,
You are correct. I should retract the "personal" vocabulary. I should have said "organizational". My apologies to the forum.

Man in Black,
In my life I have belonged to Teamsters in both the Trucking industry and Private Medical sectors. I have been in Public EMS services not represented by Unions and Public Fire/Ems represented by Public Unions. I have also been in Volunteer Fire/EMS services and in Combination Fire/EMS services. I am an old gray haired fart and I get crabby at times. I am not prejudiced for or against any of these Unions/Private service/public services/Volunteer services.

Yes, currently I am in the Public Sector/Union sector.........but with a very large community volunteer component that does an incredibly excellent job IE: a combination service.

I have opinions of them all as to the pros and cons of each form. I am happy to debate these at the coffee meets.

My point is as stated above. I see the comments denigrating the public sector in many threads and don't say anything because as stated above, this is OCDO and threads wander. As well, this is a gun forum, and I read it for the gun/OC content. I usually let the role of thread "police" go to Nick and other senior members on here. But I am interested in this thread and topic, and reading through 5 pages of the thread with at least 3 of them wandering off topic started to chap my hide. Frankly it still chaps my hide. Some other threads I just quit reading. This one I have to wade through the chaff to see if any substantive information is forthcoming.

My "sensitivity" may need to be toned down, but it is sparked more by wading through "an honest discussion" of a topic in a thread that has nothing to do with the discussion going on, or guns at all.

I would gladly discuss this in another thread ( as I suggested ) or over a coffee.

Cheers.

I suggest you put all of those members you feel have dragged the thread off-topic on ignore. That way, your precious, sensitive little public-sector hide won't have to get chapped when you read something on the internet that annoys you.

Dude, that IS kinda bordering on a personal attack now. That fact that he is/was a public sector employee is pretty irrelevant to his complain about this thread wandering, which is, after all, pretty legitimate. At least he was trying to be diplomatic about it.

Actually there is. It's right there in the forum rules, which are, after all, LAWS: No personal attacks. You're the only one who decided to reply to Gutshot with such uncalled for vitriol.

Gutshot admitted his "sensitivity may need to be turned down." I simply suggested an easy way he could make the forum less offensive to his sensibilities. That's not a personal attack.

HOWEVER -

Honestly, on a forum that offers the ability to put posters on "ignore," I really don't understand why the COMMENTS REMOVED BY ADMINISTRATOR: Inappropriate crowd feel the need to B&M about their hurt feelings.

Why do YOU feel the need to be so abrasive towards him? Some kind of personal grudge against public sector workers? It's unnecessary, uncalled for, and does absolutely nothing to even further your position.

I wasn't abrasive at all. I offered a helpful suggestion, and even included a smiley-face emoticon so my friendly demeanor wouldn't be lost in the vagaries of net-speak.

I'm curious as to why you keep posting about this. Go ahead and block me, if this causes you so much angst.

Please believe, the last thing I want to do is to hurt precious feelings...

Not at all.

I only amuses me that they see fit to confiscate my property at gunpoint to pay their bloated salaries and benefits, when most of them could be cut tomorrow and the world would be the better for it. Not only that, but it downright PLEASES me when, already nose-deep, slopping in the public trough, they have the audacity to cry out for MORE!!
