Spent 4 days at a motorcycle campout at Katherine landing campground. Part of the Lake Mead national park. OCing in the campground, a fellow camper from AZ was also OCing no problems. Rode to Oatman AZ OCing the whole way there and back to the campground, made a stop for gas and Wal-Mart in Bullhead City. No problems anywhere. Open carrying 40XDM Bi-color stainless steel slide 5.25” barrel with a Crimson Trace laser. The same firearm I CC with on those rare occasions.
Did have two younger males while at Oatman asked me if they could take my picture was not sure why. Usually if any pictures are taken it is of my wife and her unique motorcycle. I asked why, they said they had never seen anyone openly carrying a gun. I asked where are you from, thinking they were going to say Komyfornia. Nope, they were from Canada I let them take the picture; my friend lifted his shirt to show he was concealing. Was able to give some positive pro-gun info.

How many here carry on a daily basis?

I carry more times than I'm not. And even if I'm not, I am ;-)

Your call on this as I know folks have different opinions on if you should give the impression that you are always armed.
For me, I'm fine with my friends (and ALL others) thinking "he even showers with it", "don't ever walk in his house without announcing yourself", "never sneak up on him" and so on and so on.

Grapeshot,

What do you do about places that don't allow oc - do you just not go/stay at those places?

Thanks.

I do. If I can. I try not to go places that dont allow carry. If they allow CC but not oc I still do whatever I can to avoid them. Sometimes it is not easy to avoid for various reasons. On those times I do CC.

Usually a 5" Kimber 1911 .45. I had been working most of today, so I had my XD(s) .45 this time, as the weight disappears while I work. Next week, my daily carry is likely to change, as I have a present arriving from Smith & Wesson. This one will be hard to miss on my hip, I promise you.

Why do you have to make everything about size?

It's the placement of the shot that counts....lol

If OC is not allowed, I go somewhere else. Large shopping malls and movie theaters being the most notorious - I do not care for either.

Understand that OC is very widely accepted here - we OC in our General Assembly, police stations, restaurants, parks, city halls and libraries. Generally if CC is legal, so is OC.

As of yet I do not have my CCW.. So the conceal is not an option at this time...

How many would say they open carry everyday?

I don't carry in the shower or in bed, but even then a shotgun is close at hand. The only place I went yesterday was to church with the family and the .357 was in the holster on my belt.

Re: Where did you carry today and how did it go?

I OC pretty much anytime I leave the base. We live on Nellis AFB so we can't carry here so we just park across the street to strap up. I carry a Springfield XD 9mm

Where did you carry today and how did it go?

Quiznos on Sunset and Pecos...sandwich maker didn't give it a second glance although the couple guys sitting outside did the stare when we were walking in.

Walmart on Eastern and Patrick...of course no issues, but more gawking than I get down here in Henderson. One couple were so busy staring at the weapon and whispering to each other they didn't even look up till they passed.

Of course I don't make special efforts to blend in...

I love it when a gun isn't 100% black.

I did a job not far from you around lunch time. Would have been nice to join you.

Ted Wiens tire store again, picking up what looks like it will be the perfect combination for my Jeep build. I'll test fit this one and give them the go ahead to mount the rest of them. I've dealt with several different guys there each time, and they don't mind at all, probably think it's cool. Back to wearing the full-size 1911 today.

Then, picked up breakfast at a nearby Roberto's Taco Shop. No issues, just the usual great food.

its funny Mac, i just went to tire works and as i walked in the guy asked me "is that loaded?" i replied yes and he said "ok, can i have you unload it while you are here in the store?" i said no. he replied "then im sorry i cant have you in the store, it's company policy." Knowing that there is a discount tire less than a half a block from them i just said "ok then, ill just go to discount." as i walked out i got his name and business card to write a letter. i'm here at discount now and not only do the guys here not care that i'm carrying, they think its BS what happened at tire works, AND they are going to patch my tire for free.

I like to think I'd have the wherewithal to respond: "Let me get this straight. You want me to needlessly HANDLE A LOADED WEAPON? Are you a MORON? I think I'd better take my business elsewhere before you get somebody killed." Facial expressions would be convey the similar indignation.

I made one last trip to Ted Wiens today to pick up the rest of the tires. So that means that they've had plenty of time to decide if they wanted to have an issue with it. And they were all smiles every time. I'll be going back when it's time for the alignment on both the '74 CJ5 and the '61 Ranchero.

Because "None of your damn business" is not likely to help, here's a reply I just thought of:

"I carry my sidearm in the same condition as the police, except I've got more training."

When you write the manager, enclose a copy of the receipt showing how much money his store policy cost him, just from this one encounter. Share the address with us, too. I'll show them my Ted Wiens receipt. Granted, he didn't LOSE my business, but his policy makes my business unwelcome. And these Jeep tires/wheels were not cheap.

A few years few years ago, Tire works was caught up in a sting done by one of the Las Vegas local investigating news. They were charging for services and product that was not needed. Telling and lying to the customer, saying they needed to do work and replace parts that did not need to be done.
Which Tire Works? If I can find a corporate e-mail, I send them a love note why as a legal gun owner my gun owner friends and I will never set foot in their store.
