Check out NevadaCarry.org for all the state laws. It's a mobile friendly website that you can give to anyone who is ignorant or wants to know more.

Other than the casinos and convention center, you shouldn't have any issues to worry about. We understand about being polite and not wanting to cause trouble. We don't mandate everyone should OC or else they're a Bloomberg wannabe here. Do what you feel is comfortable.

Unless you do something dumb or are a gangbanger, NLVPD is probably too busy to harass you. It's mostly an urban legend now based on stuff a long time ago.

Two weeks ago we had a open carry meet up at a restaurant in North Las Vegas. I believe we had 15 plus open carrying. The delivery guy was open carrying being a NLV business he had no problem open carrying.

“Rootin’ Tootin’ Shootogether”

My fellow Open Carriers!

The votes are in and it’s unanimous! The members here at Las Vegas Open Carry of Southern Nevada have decided to have a shootogether. ALL law abiding citizens, whether you open or conceal carry, are cordially invited! Let’s get out there and test that marksmanship. Molon Labe!

All persons whom wish to attend this event are asked to meet up at the designated origination location so a head count can be made and a caravan formed for the shoot out.

The info is as follows:

Date: November 22, 2014
Time: 8:00 a.m. (please arrive no later than 7:45 a.m.)
Origination Location: Jack in the Box
4161 St. Rose Pkwy
Henderson, NV 89044
P: (702) 260-8596

Hope to see you there! Please remember to bring ALL your safety equipment (eyes, ears, etc.) for the shootout. Also, remember to bring any “toys” you wish to fire and all ammo necessary. As a precaution, it is recommended that all participants utilize factory load ammo (we don’t want to have any “Kabooms”). Of course, the more friends you bring the merrier! It's going to be a good time!

Where is said shootout? The desert? Also I know many of us do not have factory ammo as we handload everything, so I guess thats a no go for us unsafe outlaws. I dont know how around 35 folks today were able to all shoot handloads without instance at the VIMSAR match.

Am I doing something wrong? All my guns go kaboom. Every time I pull the trigger. :D

Open carried at the Pahrump Speedway. First time for monster trucks. Very entry level monster truck stuff. Some good air time and wheelies, was entertaining. Place was standing room only not one word about my sidearm. Today getting on my motorcycle at Wal-Mart a guy with two younger teenagers came up to me and said glad to see you exercising your rights. He said he always carries concealed. I said great and asked if he was aware of this web site. Told him I use to conceal for over 20 years and because of this site it gave me the knowledge and confidence to open carry.
He then said he was Law Enforcement and concealed all the time. I said cool asked which enforcement was he involved with. Home land security was the answer. Showed me his shiny brass badge. It was a great conversation.

Yargh, not even a real cop.

I think it's funny that cops only open carry when on duty.

Quite honestly, I believe that they deal with the lowest of the low so often that they ALWAYS feel that if you aren't "blue" or family, you are suspect. And if you feel everyone around you is bad, it's best to hold on to that edge that they have no idea that you know and are armed. They don't want to be a target. It's probably the only time that they feel they have that "surprise" edge.... Just my thoughts.

Oc'd everywhere in NV today and it went awesome, per usual.

I think it's more of a privilege thing, but then again I'm from CA. I think you're right about the 'target' attitude for sure.

I don't understand. Can you please clarify what you're saying?

Yea the target thing seems to be the mantra a couple of retired cops from CA keep telling me. They are blown away by the site of my oc saying, "I cannot believe you can do that! I sure wouldn't. I want to have the element of surprise on my side..." Obviously I don't agree with them. On that note, and I do like & respect them both as people, I had to tell them years ago when they were offering to "walk me in" for a job interview at their old PD, "Sorry guys, but I just can't be someone's puppet enforcing laws I disagree with". That pretty much killed the issue. And my answer was so automatic I didn't realize how rude I was. Accurate, but without tact, I can often be.

Off-duty cops generally CC because the law has been simplified for them and they know they're allowed to in any private business or public area that isn't government property, regardless of county or state. Nothing about HR-218 allows an off-duty cop to open carry in another jurisdiction. A california correctional officer is covered under LEOSA, however, the Riverside county sheriff would hand him his ass if he ever found out about a CO open carrying without official business in his county. Nevada is an open-carry haven that provides MORE freedom than CCW or LEOSA, but many people, cops included, simply don't know that. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DU2RV0NgnZc

had a great time in vegas, and did great in the marathon.

carried most of the weekend, never really stepped foot into any of the big casinos with it - put it in the lockbox of my car. but I did leave my holster on. a worker at mandalay bay asked me if they asked me to check it; he was CC hahah. carried at PH though, and miracle mile shops. A gay dude working a kiosk by the rainstorm pond gasped "OMG you have a gun." hands over his mouth and all. I replied with "anyone can do this *points at sig* in nevada." got a lot of little kids looking and smiling. dude in earl of sandwich line said "nice sig". walked a large amount of the strip just fine. definitely felt the eyes. it's a interesting experience open carrying in public for the first time; in vegas no less. even passed two parked metro motor officers walking by the rent-a-lambo and they just gave the nod.

good times. Thanks for the help and information guys! definitely arming up when I get to stateline.

come to think of it ... I never stopped at stateline outlets to see how friendly that was. next time.

Sweet! I'll be there this weekend for all of Thanksgiving week. I won't OC in casinos either but I do always leave my holster on. Never had anyone mention anything about the holster before in any of the casinos.

I just realized it's been about 2 and a half years now that I've been open carrying. Time flies.

One of my favorite things when I open carry is like what happened yesterday at Lowe's. I'm talking to some person (an employee this time) and we are carrying on a conversation about some non-gun related topic. Considerable time goes by before they notice my oc - several minutes. And then I can often see the little momentary "stutter" in their actions / speak, just for a half second, at that moment when they do notice it. Yet, the conversation never changes topic or rhythm. It's as if they suddenly noticed "OMG, this guy is armed" and then IMMEDIATELY concluded "...and so what" and the conversation continues as normal with no mention of my oc.

I gotta tell ya, that has become a driving force behind my continued open carry - to normalize it. To let folks realize that I am the same guy with whom you were just carrying on an intelligent conversation with and that being armed draws no concern. Ahhh, feels good.

I did see a couple of guys at Lowe's yesterday notice my shirt w/ printing "Come And Take It" and I actually think these Pro-Gun shirts I wear when I'm oc make it pretty obvious what I'm up to. I NEVER get asked why am I open carrying when I'm wearing such an obvious message.

haha rad.

also to add depth to the entire previous post of mine, I spent all that time
with my parents, brother, and best friend who came to watch me race.
just a family walking around enjoying vegas.

dude definitely carry everywhere you want. I already knew the big casino policy - and I felt like leaving on the holster was a statement like "I KNOW YOUR GAME, CASINO! I'M ON TO YOUR SHENANIGANS!" hahaha. I was honestly sorta nervous the first few hours, but it's seriously great. I hated coming back to so-cal. it's nice getting attaboys from business owners and random folk in public. forgot, IN N OUT on blue diamond before leaving town? no problems.

Today saw a lone female OCing in the Pahrump WalMart. Started talking to her and found out she was a county commissioner. Says she open carries every where. It was a great conversation.

Wish someone in Clark County did that.

What a great experience I had today. The wife was making crockpot chili and needed an item from the store, so off I go. Picked up the item she needed, headed over to the Starbucks kiosk. (I know about the CEOs letter, but this is a kiosk and I always OC and never even a look or hesitation). I was wearing my Native Navy Veteran hat today. Received a thanks for my service at the grocery checkout and while inline at the kiosk. I spotted a gentleman with a World War II Veteran hat on. I went over and chatted with him for a few minutes. Nice guy. We shared some stories and had a couple chuckles before I thanked him for his service and departed.

Nobody blinked or stuttered.
