Man charged in slaying ex-wife's boyfriend By Crocker Stephenson of the Journal Sentinel
Posted: Jan. 5, 2010 2:08 p.m.
A 56-year-old-man who Milwaukee police say killed a man he believed had brainwashed his ex-wife was charged Tuesday with first-degree intentional homicide using a dangerous weapon.
Lee Yang is charged with shooting Shoua Lee, 41, Thursday morning outside Lee's home in the 5600 block of N. 83rd St.
Lee, according to a complaint, was dating Yang's ex-wife.
"Yang stated that he killed Lee because Lee was brainwashing (Yang's ex-wife) into staying with Lee," the complaint says.
Lee was shot three times: in the face, in the chest and in the abdomen. Investigators recovered two semi-automatic rifles and one semi-automatic handgun from Yang's home, according to the complaint.
If convicted, Yang faces up to life plus five years in prison.

MILWAUKEE -- Surveillance video caught a Molotov cocktail attack on a Milwaukee gas station.

Investigators said the motive wasn't robbery.

The incident happened at about 7 p.m. on Dec. 29 at the Clark gas station the intersection of North 60th Street and West Fond Du Lac Avenue, officers said.

The video shows a man slamming a fire bomb into a pane of bullet proof glass in an attempt to set the station on fire.

"The guy was behind the counter was brave," store owner Mandy Brar said.
No one was injured in the fire but it cost about $1,000 in damages.

Police said it was not a robbery attempt, but related to a series of events that started back in 2007.

"When a group of juveniles had come into the station and ransacked and taken a bunch of property, one of those suspects was arrested at that time but a second suspect wasn't arrested until recently in December, and the investigators feel at this point if could be retaliation for that second arrest," Lt. Mark Stanmeyer said.

The owner said she has taken safety and security precautions against gun violence but this was a surprise.

"The fire, I never expected that, this is the first time," Brar said.

The owner and the police believe it's just a matter of time before the suspect is caught. They said he is known in the neighborhood and they're encouraging people who know him to point him out.

Anyone with information that could lead investigators to the suspect you're asked to call Milwaukee police.

Police are seeing a suspect in the armed robbery of a bank on Milwaukee's south side.
Milwaukee Police were called to 4230 W. Oklahoma Ave. just before 8 a.m., about an hour before a North Shore Bank branch at that address was scheduled to open. Police confirmed a robbery happened at the location, but didn't have additional details.

Defense of a helpless other is included in the self-defense statute. [see below]
Stopping a felony in progress is certainly allowed.
And I don't know of anyone who contests that being raped is serious bodily harm.

So you're legal 3 ways from Sunday to shoot him dead on the spot.
Just get around to the side so you don't endanger the woman, & he falls off her.

And if he has that kind of attitude, he's certainly a danger to society (will rape again,
so you're preventing further/ongoing crime, which is one defense to shooting
someone in the back).

Only caveat I can see is that if it wasn't really a rape, just some twisted role-
playing, you'll have to explain exactly what you saw & heard to convince you
that she was being raped.

A town of Shelby man is at a La Crosse hospital after being shot in his mobile home late Thursday.
Three men dressed in stocking caps, bandanas or scarves and winter coats tried to force their way into aresidenceat the La Crosse Mobile Home Park, 4625 Mormon Coulee Road, about 11:30 p.m., then shot through the door, hitting the man in the right collarbone as he tried tokeep them outside, La Crosse County sheriff's Capt. Kurt Papenfuss said.

The man, whose name was not released, was taken to Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center, but he was conscious and his wound was not considered life-threatening, Papenfuss said. Gundersen Lutheran declined to release the man's condition.

Suspects have been identified, but no arrests have been made, according to law enforcement officials.

A neighbor said he saw an older-style station wagon pull up near the unit and three men get out while the driver waited.

They walked to the mobile home, the neighbor said, and "I thought I heard a firecracker. It wasn't very loud."

"He's a good guy," the neighbor said. "I don't understand why anybody would shoot him."

Investigators believe the incident may have been tied to prescription drugs, Papenfuss said.

No one was in custody as of early today, he said.

The sheriff's department was continuing to comb the area at the mobile home park.
And Then:

http://www.lacrossetribune.com/news/local/article_7214cdc2-01f7-11df-886b-001cc4c03286.html
An energy supplement salesman a little too eager to make a new customer was robbed Thursday morning on La Crosse's North Side.
According to police reports, the 57-year-old Rushford, Minn., man was at the Americas Best Value Inn on Rose Street for a meeting. When he left, he told police he was approached by a man who asked what he did.

The man said his girlfriend was a nurse and seemed genuinely interested. Eager to make a new customer, the salesman said he gave him a business card from his wallet. The salesman then left to meet someone.

When he returned to the motel, the suspect asked him for a ride.

They drove for a couple of blocks as the salesman explained the nutritional contents of an energy drink when the suspect asked whether he ever used an escort service.

When he pulled over to let his new customer out, the suspect demanded the man's wallet, saying he had a gun. He took $220 in cash and the victim's Blackberry cell phone.

Police viewed the motel's security videos and, with the help of the cell phone company, located the phone in a nearby garage, where they also found a blank check, some sunglasses and a La Crosse County Jail ministry notebook belonging to the suspect, a 40-year-old La Crosse man.

The suspect, who has not yet been arrested, was sentenced in March to six months in jail for credit card theft.
And Then

http://www.lacrossetribune.com/news/local/article_2be78f88-01ed-11df-ba8c-001cc4c03286.html
La Crosse police are investigating an attempted armed robbery after two men brandished a gun at CTS Taxi's office early this morning.
The 30-year-old dispatcher told police he was alone in the 226 Hood St. building shortly before 2 a.m. when two men walked in, one of them carrying a silver revolver.

"Dude, I don't have anything," he told them. "All I have is $2 in my wallet."

The suspect then cocked the gun and pointed it at the victim, according to the police report. The other would-be robber entered a back room but didn't take anything.

The suspects are described as a light-skinned black man about 5-foot-6 and a white man about 5-foot-10, both in their early 20s and wearing black hooded sweatshirts.

They left empty handed, according to police.
And that's just 1 day.

Parents murdered

MILWAUKEE -A 34 year old man is in custody for the shooting deaths of his own parents early Sunday. CBS 58's Stephanie Brown has the details.

I'm sure these parents could have used a gun.

Update: http://www.wisn.com/news/22503377/detail.html

New information came out Monday on the double murder on Milwaukee's south side. Investigators say a man called 911 Sunday and told the dispatcher he killed his mother and father. Police say the 34-year-old man surrendered, without incident, when they arrived at the home near 10th Street and Lincoln Avenue. The suspect told investigators he had gotten into an argument with his parents. WISN 12 News obtained search warrant documents --- which show officers recovered more than $3000 in cash, an assault rifle, a shotgun and two swords. Charges have not been filed against the suspect.

Can someone please tell me what an assault rifle is? They also make it sound like have cash is a bad thing. What kind of swords were they? Were they ones you could actually use or ones that were more show?

The entire incident was caught on surveillance cameras last Friday at Mortimer's Pub on 70th and Adler. The video shows the hooded suspect entering the bar, waving a gun a everyone in his path.
"Patrons pretty much hit the floor," owner Stephen Silber said.
Even the bartender tried to get down before the suspect made her open the cash register for him to clean out.
Frightened patrons were even plotting ways to sneak behind the counter and take the suspect down. But the robber was out already out the door, running past posted signs, warning that the area was under surveillance.
The owner says there's not much more they could have done, and he hopes the surveillance video will help police nab the suspect.

And NOTICE the location.....
JANESVILLE — A Fort Atkinson woman is in custody at the Rock County Jail after being accused of attempting to rob a woman 30 years her senior.

Rhonda M. Costilla, 35, N1739 Riggert Road, Fort Atkinson was arrested at 10:50 p.m. Monday at home by Jefferson County Sheriff’s deputies on a charge of attempted robbery, according to a Janesville Police Department news release.

The arrest relates to an incident at 9:02 p.m. Monday, when the 65-year-old victim was loading her groceries into her car in the Woodman’s parking lot, 2819 N. Lexington Drive, Janesville.

Costilla allegedly approached the victim who was on a mobility scooter, grabbed her purse and tried to flee.

But the victim fought back, and in doing so, knocked her assailant to the ground.

Costilla continued to pull at the victim’s purse while on the ground.

The victim kicked the suspect and pulled her hair, all while yelling for help.

Several people, including Woodman’s employees, heard the victim’s shouts and came to her aid.

Costilla fled, but witnesses were able to provide the police with a license plate number for her vehicle.

The victim didn’t receive any serious injuries.

And she kept her purse.

This is exactly why guns should be allowed in places of consumption.
