What he said. Keep it completely and strictly legal. Either stop at the middle of the bridges or stay on the free side of them.
And I agree w/ Skid - is there any indication of doing more than a show of force? Other than reminding people in DC that it's possible for them to be free if they exercise their other rights, what is the purpose?

Even if he gets his 10K confirmed (on facebook), no way will more than maybe a few hundred actually show up.
If I had the money to travel, or lived close enough to not worry about expense, I would be there...
on the legal side of the street/river/bridge, lawfully armed, and carrying my trauma kit.
Might even make up a 'first aid' sign to carry, or a vest with a big red cross on the front & back, to distinguish me as a noncombattant.

My understanding is that there is no "legal" side of the bridge with Arlington being off limits for carry and possession.

ETA, updated #'s

2489 going, 2225 maybes, 49198 invites. I'm sure there are many people who plan on going but are smart enough not to pre-register their intent on a public venue.

ETA2, I'm sure the bridge will be barricaded.

Think a moment on what you are saying? Then explain to me how anyone exercising a right or taking a stand is a bad thing. I personally think this type of thought you have expressed here is part of the problem, pointing negatively to someone doing something the best they feel how.

The test is in the pudding. Over cooked and burnt, curdled or bitter after taste.

IMHO - the intent may be good, but the potential damage must be considered too.

I seriously question, rather see no need, for such an action at this time - especially in light of the FACT that we are winning, advancing on virtually all fronts. Can see no need to risk disaster with theater like this.

Those that wish to not follow the site rules, propose breaking laws, and/or supporting armed violent overthrow of our government do NOT belong here.

Of course I'm speaking rhetorically here, but how about restoring the rightful government we lost in a sneaky little coup de'tat we had back in the 1860s? That wouldn't be a "violent overthrow of our government"... It'd be fixing it. ;)

Radio Host to Lead Armed March on DC

My biggest concern with this proposed activity is the complete inability to ensure that no malcontent trouble makers are included that start firing their rifles and precipitate a 10,000 person strong armed insurrection that WILL result in calling out the national guard and martial law. It just seems like a crazy way to fall into the trap desired by the leftist, Marxist, and progressives on power that want to overthrow the Constitution!

I hadn't heard of Mr. Kokesh before, and as a fellow Libertarian I was interested to hear what he had to say. Directly from his own lips, not regurgitated nonsense via the mainstream media.

This is the newest video that I was able to find with Mr. Kokesh being interviewed (by Alex Jones), which exemplifies "alternative" media. It's about 40 minutes long. Every aspect about the upcoming event is discussed in the interview (including safety precautions).

Mr. Kokesh strikes me as a very intelligent, articulate guy. My first reaction after watching this interview is that he is a genuine patriot.

I'll be watching this event with interest on July 4.

I'm confused, I thought civil disobediance was violating an unjust law, not protesting without breaking the law.

Nevermind, I'm not confused, but I'm pretty sure she is.

If I was still stationed at Indian Head MD, I would seriously consider joining this.

"There's a difference between civil disobedience, which I think this is being portrayed as, and actual violation of the law. There's two different things here. Civil disobedience, people come to D.C. to protest policies and government policy all the time—it's no problem. But when you cross into the District of Columbia with a firearm and you're not in compliance with the law, now you're talking about a criminal offense and there's going to be some action by police," she said.

Gahh!

Idjit does not know that "civil disobedience", by definition, involes the intentional breaking of a law.

stay safe.

Still trying to figure out how this could be pulled off without getting stopped at the starting gate (Arlington National Cemetary).

Putting folks on the GW Parkway (NPS territory) to walk to the bridge still runs afoul of the "no pedestrians" rule on the parkway. He could do it via the Mt. Vernon Trail (see map http://24timezones.com/mapa/usa/va_arlington/arlington.htm or http://www.everytrail.com/guide/mount-vernon-trail/map - enbiginate enough to see the trail). Just not sure there is access from the trail to the bridge.

But even if this ^ could be done, I'm still not going to support what looks like nothing but a show of force.

stay sasfe.

Someone should tell this clown that their law is not really a law. And Adam is not going to fold just because you said that he cannot come in. The whole point of this is to push the issue and show the American people who their government really is.

I fully support this CONSTITUTIONAL EXERCISE!

Why do so many others feel they need the action? This isn't about guns in itself its about remaining free. And we have not been winning on that front. NDAA, Patriot Act, Drones, Destruction of our money private property....etc.....

You are right that the potential damage must be considered I fear that too, working through the channels the government wants us to work and playing by their "rules" that are fixed in their favor hasn't worked......

If the government was smart what they would do is just let it happen, make it a non issue, and say it was an exercise of freedom of speech and expression.

( I am not endorsing illegal actions just discussing this situation)

Been said that freedom = guns = freedom......chicken or the egg, same thing?

Problem here is that when the focus/central theme moves away from guns, specifically OCd in holster, it moves out of the realm of OCDO.

Never have we said that OCDO was all things for freedom loving people. No matter how hungry you are, you can buy neither fillet mignon nor beef jerky here.

Anyone who thinks that many of the posts above do not include overt advocacy of illegal acts is not reading this thread!

There is zero doubt that the staff are allowing their "light hand" to overlook blatant rules violations here. I strongly recommend that OCDO avoid being accused of officially endorsing this march by officially eschewing it through the locking of this thread with a strong statement. There is no way that this thread can stand without repeated posts condoning this law-breaking--including those already posted.

If this march comes off, threads like this one are allowed to stand, and there is a violent fiasco on that bridge, then many fingers will be pointed in the direction of OCDO, and not entirely wrongly so!

Yep, great idea. And then they can get tear-gassed, pepper sprayed, shot with water cannons. frog marched to jail. Just like the OWS folk were. Of course *these* idiots plan on being armed with semi-automatic weapons with high-capacity mags (unlike the OWS folk) so the response to them *may* be ratcheted up a bit. I wonder how the "from my cold, dead fingers" crowd will react when a police officer tells them to put their weapons on the ground and get down on their knees, hands behind their head, so they can be cuffed? Especially when it will be a "lot" of policemen with weapons drawn. These folks are not the face of responsible gun owners that I want representing me. None of the responsible gun owners I know are willing to start a civil war because the black president wants most Americans to have health care He hasn't come for our guns. He is not a tyrant. Get a grip.

How can they be expected to be treated any different than the OWS crowd? Except they will be armed.

We are NOT endorsing the march!

Let me make that perfectly clear. The official position of OCDO has always been that we are focused on the open carry of properly holstered handguns in everyday life. We also advocate for the correction of unconstitutional laws (which DC's unquestionably is) through the courts and the ballot box.

Having said that, we are allowing this discussion because people want to discuss it amongst themselves. So long as no one crosses the line into suggesting that our members place their safety and legal well-being on the line, I am inclined to let the discussion continue.

Exactly. This is about freedom of every kind, not just guns.

There are negative consequences to every action, regardless of how subtle. This country has seen a dramatic downward spiral since Obama took office, and unless something is done, it will only get worse.

I fully support this CONSTITUTIONAL EXERCISE!

That's what you got out of this?
