They are closing on March 11. They will reopen a bit later as Sportsman's Warehouse. All the current employees will have to re apply for their jobs.

Yeah a couple of the guys at the gun counter told me that Sportmans Warehouse was going to buy them out again and until then they are not ordering any additional inventory. They told me that April 10th is the estimated re-opening at that they will have a fresh new stock by then. I sure hope the ammo reserves are gaining again by then or we may have a bunch of 200 pound guys rushing for .22LR like black friday. Hoping I get my phone call back today about my Savage Mark 2...I want a pretty new rifle!

Not being there, doubtful anyone will have the ability to know.
- personally i don't concern about other people being armed, unless i have to, as i wish for them to afford me the same considerations.
- If someone is open carrying, and i happen to like his/her make model, they might get a compliment, but casually.

It doesn't concern me either I just assume everyone is armed.

And there are a lot more armed people out there than some would think.

Same here, I see people OCing all the time, I never bother them. I want it to seem like a perfectly normal activity. I saw someone OCing the other day in the Port Orchard Wal-Mart. Of course with my dad he has to stop me and say "Hey look that guy is OCing too!" Sigh. Being from California, I can understand why he gets surprised. Me, I don't look for it and don't care.

I have worked at the PO Walmart for over a year and yet to have seen someone OC. I keep hearing about those that have seen it from fellow workers but not experienced it. A fair warning, expect a sudden extension of a hand to grasp yours when I do.

What department do you work in? I will make it a point to come in.

hubby and I have OC'd in the Port Orchard Walmart lots of times. Even had one of my all time favorite encounters there.

just as the store was switching over to a Super Walmart, there were a couple of guys stocking the shelves of yarn in the craft department. I heard one of them say something about "zombie apocalypse" LoL. I wandered over to check prices, and one wandered off, the other gent asked me if I needed any help finding anything. I said "nah, but did I hear one of you say something about zombies??" He chuckled and tried to deny it LoL. I told him it's ok, not going to weird me out. Apparently there had been talk going around the store along the lines of "if the zombie apocalypse started while you were at work (IE they start shambling through the doors like right now), what is the first department you would go to" so of course I replied "sporting goods for ammo" and he says "yeah, but we don't sell guns here" so I turned my hip and lifted my arm a bit so he could see my Sig Sauer P226 strapped to my right side. You should have seen how BIG his eyes got. "Oh geez, I didn't even notice! I usually notice when people are carrying"

when I got home and told hubby the story, he laughed and said the kid must have been distracted by all the cleavage and his eyes never got down that low LoL.

When it's warm enough for me to go without my field jacket I'm OC. I OC in Wallyworld all the time (weather permitting). I generally don't go in the meats dept though. We buy most of our meats from Farmer George's.

That was the first time I had seen it in Wal-Mart. The past 2 other times I had run into people OCing were at the Port Orchard waterfront & Wholesale Sports in silverdale. Minus the 2 rallies of course.

I have been meaning to go to Farmer George's for sometime, however the reviews on that place are mixed, from downright awful & disgusting to awesome. Guess I will have to go find out myself.

As far as my own OC report, I just got back from Fred Meyer Port Orchard, nothing to report other than hearing a kid behind me say "Hey mommy he is carrying a gun" to which she replied "Shh be quiet" Other than that nothing different than usual. Has to make a sneaky exit to avoid being mugged by the girl scouts hawking those death cookies.

You do say that with a big smile, right? :D

No, I say it with firm dislike for the little beggars. They want into the boy scouts, but do you think they will let a boy into the girl scouts? Not on your life. Don't ask me how I really feel because my answer would cause me to be banned from the site.

Anyone who would say that about Farmer George's probably have never been in a real butcher shop before. They certainly aren't the deli dept of Thriftway, and they sure as heck aren't the meat dept at Costco. They handle meat. They trim it, cut it up, make sausage and bacon. They have the absolute best meat, hands down.

Agreed, I don't even like the taste of supermarket beef anymore. Farmer George's is one of the best places one can go to get fresh meat, and much of it is grown locally too....

Hello everyone I am now officially back and once again living in Kitsap County I got back from Michigan two weeks ago and I am finally starting to get back into a normal routine. I was happy to see this thread survive the almost six months I was gone and that people seemed to be getting some use out of it. Now that I am back in Kitsap county I hope to see everyone soon or maybe even better I hope to bump into everyone out in the real world while we are open carrying. Today was a fun day at Starbucks in Poulsbo. I bumped into a lot of old family friends, old fire commissioners and I even got to hi to our own antispam. I guess that is it for today I just wanted to say hello to everyone and announce that I am my trusty XD are back and ready to pick up where we left off
