Sheriff Deed's statement was consistant with his oath of supporting and defending the US and Virginia Constitution! People in DC are ignoring the constitution and WE need to hold them accountable. The first step is at the local level nullifying anything they do outside their Constitutional authority!

Hey guys, anyone OCed to Ruths Chris steak house in VB? I don't see why it'd be an issue. The ole lady and I were invited there tonight (free steak...lemme think, yea we can make it :) ) I'll be dressed appropriately kinda business casual. Just didn't know if they were anti being an "upscale" dining place.

Thanks!

I haven't heard anything about that particular steak house. I say OC and see what happens (and report back). Good luck, and enjoy your steak!

Park Lane Tavern @ PTC

I'm really bad at searching so I'm sorry if this has been mentioned already. Is Park Lane Tavern at Peninsula Town Center OC friendly? Going to 1/2 fish and chips on Tuesday and I didn't want to get asked to leave when I'm with a group that I'm trying to convince to OC.

Well I OCed to the Ruths Chris steak house. Our service was impeccable. Not even a funny look with my best jeans (no holes lol) and a nice turquoise button up long sleeve tucked in with a belt. A fantastic experience and the best steak I have ever had. So no issues what so ever. Also stopped at the wawa on pleasure house no issues.

Guadalajara: Great food, great atmosphere, great service, poor hired security

OC this evening for dinner with the wife at Guadalajara at Towne Center in Virginia Beach. Seemed like a slower evening than usual for a Friday but we enjoyed very good service and great food! Wasn't until we were leaving that a door security came to me and told me that firearms weren't allowed in restaurants serving alcohol, and further when I stated that this was not in compliance with state laws, that the restriction was a locality law. I knew this, of course to be preempted. The security went further to say that he would have not admitted me to the restaurant had he been there when I arrived. I asked him if the management had input into this policy and was told he was not. Given that the security was subcontracted, you might guess that my next conversation was with the manager who assured me that I could come back anytime with my legal carry and pay good money for great service. The manager showed passable understanding of the states laws regarding his premises and the established laws against. Good on the manager, but in general there seems to be a misunderstanding of the states laws regarding carry and drinking in restaurants. While no drinking was done by either of us, it seemed to be the only concern of the other parties involved, and to their error, poorly implemented in their policies.

Captain D's

OC'd at Capt D's, kind of catchy huh? maybe a little fishy!

No issues/problems and both the wife and I were very pleased with the food.

I've noticed that a lot of people are under the misconception that firearms aren't allowed in establishments with an ABC license, or that drinking an alcoholic beverage while carrying is illegal. While I'd never personally drink while carrying, OC while have a beer is perfectly legal, if in bad form in my opinion. I actually schooled a pro-2nd amendment establishment on this very thing a few weeks ago. When we had our OC dinner at Mom's Kitchen in VB, the staff was under the assumption that consuming an alcoholic beverage while OC was illegal. I explained to them that it is not technically illegal to OC and have an alcoholic beverage, but it is illegal to CC and drink. They were very receptive to the discussion. The owner, I believe did ask that we not drink and carry, and as it is his private held business, he is within his rights to set that standard (not that any of us intended to drink that night anyway).

Anyway, my point was that most 2A friendly establishments that may be under the misconception about the OC and drinking law are typically receptive to being schooled on the actual reading of the law if presented to them in a respectful manner. Sorry the security guard was a jerk, but I'm gad y'all enjoyed your meal.

I think that is the purpose of that law. Not a bad idea if you ask me. Now only if we could get them to remove the exceptions in that law we would be in good shape.

Open carried saturday to WaWa (Lynnhavene parkway) Walmart (Lynn haven), Dick's (Lynnhaven Mall). Only comment was a guy in walmart that just came to the area from Tennesee. Wanted to know how much it cost to get a permit to open carry. Explained the Virginia rules to him and gave him one of Ed's OC cards to check the websites and verify what we told him was correct.

That's great that they are a halfway pro gun establishment. I'm really happy that businesses are supporting gun owners etc... its great for our area. But if they don't recognize open carry then I won't be attending. I could care less about the discount, its just principal.

Standing on a principal would likely cause someone great pain :p

Personally, I almost never go where I must hide my gun - it makes me feel so dirty and sneaky.

I may be off base

Open Carry Dinner in Williamsburg at Bellissimo Pizza Café, 6614 Mooretown Road, Williamsburg 4pm-6pm. Come out and join us! We hope to see you there! The proprietor requests that you show an active CHP to receive a discount.

But I think that is for those who arent OCing or are not armed at that moment in time.. I don't think it is the lone requirement for the discount. But I could be wrong...

Williamsburg OC Dinner Clarification

Hey everyone!

I was able to communicate with Bellissimos' management, and they assured me that the employee was mistaken and that the discount applies both to open carriers as well as those with a current CHP. I apologize for any misconception on my part, I had been operating off of an employee's information (my bad, I know better than that :banghead:). I hope this clarification clears up any concerns for everyone.
