Looks like we're done.

What's your opinion?

It won't come that quick, it will take a change in the courts, and then the time for a case to come before the court. I give it about 10 years.

I have a place to store mine until my grandchildren can recover them, or their children.

I haven't seen the numbers, but I suspect that this is likely due to those 3rd party people again.

Hi cap mags and so called assault rifles will be gone, likely within a year. It won't expire this time. Like the 1968 gun control scam, and the ban on silencers and automatics, we will be stuck with revolvers, low cal ammo, 9 round mags, and bolt guns, likely for decades to come.

I don't know if it will be "by-by guns", but ZERO and his henchmen will try to ban certain weapons.

I'm guessing NRA memberships will soar in coming weeks.

I don't think the house would go for it, unless he does it by executive order. I think there is possibility we may see active enforcement of the GFSZA. By the time it got to the SCOTUS the court will have changed.

I don't think they are going to go after our guns like they have tried before. I think they will go after our ammo now. I don't remember where I read it but, it was about the EPA and anti gun groups going after ammo because of the lead and wanting to regulate and tax ammo to the point it would be very hard to buy. I will look for it and try to post a link here.

Everybody should reload... I would expect reloading equipment and components to be attacked. Time to stock up, especially on powder.

I'd bet there will be a bill to reinstate an assault weapons ban within the week (ok, maybe not that quick)! I do not think a bill like this will pass the Senate (with the Blue-Dog Democrats and the 45 Republicans) or the House, but they will certainly try!

Well we saw what happened when they denied him the dream act. He just signed a executive order, this is where the real danger with him is.

I'm not so sure.

Obama hasn't touched the gun issue except to make statements to pacify his base. getting extreme gun control passed will not be easy as republicans are unlikely to go along with it, and the NRA holds the cards of the most of those republicans political futures so it's unlikely they will play ball.

True obama can appoint judges, but who's most likely to retire? most of the time justices only retire when a president who is friendly to their philosophy is seated. of course someone could die and thats a concern. but the geezers only need to live for 4 more years.... LOL still it's likely anti-gun justices will retire and not pro-gun justices.

And Obama could start active enforcement of GFSZA but local police officers can't enforce it, only federal. the ATF does not and will not have the funding to place agents outside of skrools hoping to bust an OCer. and most OCers have CPLs anyway, so the prosecutable offenses will be relatively low in comparison to the money they'll spend. why do you think they only prosecute druggies and gang members? because in those cases the state has already done the leg work in finding and gathering evidence. i'm not aware of a federal agent EVER making a bust for GFSZA just because they normally always jerk you around after the state has had their turn. If they actually had to find violators themselves the ATF would be pushing for repeal of the law...

And now you have many more potential cases to go before SCOTUS under that law.... just not gonna happen.

I actually think guns are somewhat safe at the moment.

As far as executive orders, the only thing he could reasonable do is apply the "sporting features" test to imported firearms. the administration has no legal authority to ban AR type weapons produced at home without congressional approval

Forgive my ignorance but what is the dream act?

it was for illegal aliens who were brought here as minors and who completed some level of education would be granted green cards.

the law didn't pass congress so Obama granted amnesty to everyone the dream act would've applied to. Actually that is within his authority as he can pardon offenses against the united states as president.

"This is not amnesty. This is not immunity. This is not a path to citizenship. It's not a permanent fix," "This is a temporary stopgap measure."

Barack Obama

No it is not a pardon, or amnesty it is a executive order to circumvent a failed attempt at legislation.

It doesn't matter what terminology Obama uses, using executive fiat to not carry out the law is pretty much the same as amnesty.

much like Gerald Ford issued an ordering "pardoning" nixon even though Nixon was not convicted of a crime.

I completely understand your concern. Could you please explain how this would happen without the Liberals having control of the House of Representatives where a Bill must be approved first by the House which is still controlled by Republicans???

May I suggest you and others watch this informative video that I watched as a child. No need to take a Political Science class to figure this stuff out. :p

You are right, he hasn't touched the gun issue. However, now he can "touch" anything he pleases without worry. You just wait; I guaruntee we haven't seen anything even resembling the REAL Barrack Hussein Obama! This man will rip through the Constitution like it was made for him to wipe his as* with!

He can pardon all he wants; he CANNOT legislate by way of Executive order!

That's great, but this is a republic, not an autocracy.
He can't do anything by himself. he has no support to enact any new gun laws because that involves needing congress. not to mention he is still yet to appoint a justice, and when he does it will probably be some old liberal who retires.

So I think maybe obama will try, but he won't succeed.

If they come for my guns, they better come looking for a shootout. Id rather be found bloody, laying in spent shell casings, and empty guns, than handing over my freedom to a Fed.
