Not likely to get 100 people to do this sorta thing, but we could muster up 10-20 pretty easily, especially cause those places have some good eats! Say when and where. I've got my days off now changed to fri/sat so I'm hoping to make a lot more of the events on this forum. My old schedule kept me from some stuff. However i'm 3p-11p on the other days so that rules out most other day get togethers

I think the key to something like this being effective as a tactic would be to have enough people confirmed to attend that it justifies a call ahead to have them arrange tables. That way, when 20 people show up packing, they have to decide whether they want to turn the whole group (and their money) away.

Even better, arrange a Christmas party or something. Catered by them. Even tell them that it is for a gun club. Just leave out the part about OC. Let them make that call when we are all standing there, hungry.

THIS. Why don't we try to make this happen? Do you think we could get a fair ammount of people involved???

I'm in!

I haven't been on this forum long enough to really get a feel of the people on here or not - if they're the kind of people that would do this, but I'm in...if it's done with taste. I love the Drafthouse, especially happy hour, M-F 3-6. House beers & appetizers are $2 off, pitchers are $8 off - my mouth's watering right now. BUT, I have to make sure that whatever I do, I don't end up getting myself barred. I know, I know, what about my 2A rights. Well, let me put it this way: When I'm on my death bed and someone asks me what can they get me as my one last request on this Earth, I think I'd ask for a pint of Dirty Dog IPA over...well....just about anything.

Just say when though. Chances are I'm already there.

Word of caution: We better be careful with this though as 20+ men all openly armed is likely to worry some people into calling Metro...and we know how that could go in the totally wrong direction. If we get asked to leave, we must.

That's why it being a called-ahead party is important. That way, we are expected. If we were there to cause harm, would we call ahead? Also, it supports our position of "it's no big deal".

What I'm referring to is the very likely possibility of Metro being called by a patron and then, because I do not know you guys, one of you wishing to make it your famous last stand, and Metro simply deciding that anyone with a gun needs to be taken out no matter how cooperative he may be. Sorry to poop on the parade, but that needs to be in everyone's mind. I know that I will not "push" a cop in the field, but I don't know about others and I do not want to be guilty by association. A legitimate concern.

Then don't go. Problem solved. See how easy that was. And oh by the way, we don't know you either. I know many on the forum but not you. See how that works both ways?

Yea, I got ya. Probably best. The more I think about it, the less it sounds like a good idea.

I wrote my letter though...

Oh and the reply was, "...the bottom line is it has been our company policy to not allow OC in our facilities. This is done because of how it makes our other guests feel, not because we have some anti-gun rights agenda. Far from it. I believe most of our senior staff are proud gun owners. "

We've already done meet ups and dinners like at PTs...and metro has done training with their dispatchers that 'man with a gun calls' aren't a crime. People call the police and its dispatch's job to inform the caller that unless they're committing a crime, then they don't need to intervene. I know what you're saying, but it just shouldn't happen that way.

A call ahead is fine, but nowhere should it be said in the call that 20 ARMED people want to come have dinner. Just a call ahead for 20 people...like you would for any large gathering of any kind.

I think metro would respond better to a group of people carrying than an individual, seeing as how they have experience with groups of activists cleaning up garbage and the like.

Look, I know you're new here and everything but stop being so paranoid. Despite what you may have heard on the news it's very hard for someone to obtain a firearm if they aren't mentally sound. And of those that actually have an agenda to "make a last stand" I doubt any of them would bother regestering on a networking forum to do it.

Exactly.

Well, given the Eric Scott incident, Metro's love of blood, my NHP friend telling me I was asking to get killed and my lack of faith in my fellow man, I feel it a valid concern. If some of you don't, then I guess disregard my "word of caution". Make your plans and post them on here. I'll continue to chew on the idea. And no matter what I decide, it should have no bearing on your plans.

Paranoia? Yep. Know that while I have over 36 years of firearms experience and 26 of it carrying, it has always been a solitary game for me. Meaning, I haven't had to be concerned if someone else was gonna be an idiot with their gun. Playing with others is something I'll have to warm up to.

Dare I suggest you make a preemptive call to Metro ahead of time to let them know your plans? Don't bite my head off. Just an idea...

Erik Scott wasn't open carrying, and he wasn't with a large group of people that were open carrying either. You have to think, if there is a large group of us and Metro DOES get called, they will for sure show up with more people than we have. Look at Eric Scott, it was at least 3 police officers for one man. So if there are 3 police officers for ervery person we have, and we have 20 do you really think they are going to dispatch 60 cops to a restaurant where things are happening business as usual?

I would just drop it. Many of us have written them, they have responded they do not want us. Another tact is to send them a copy of receipts when you eat at a competitors place.

Alright then. I'll be right behind you...back row, behind the biggest guy. Just kidding.

Being seriousness now - I don't know vegaspassat. By all means, if you feel good about it have at it. I'm leaning towards not. The CFO told me they didn't want oc. It's their business, their prerogative. I'd be no better than the anti gunners who try to instill their will upon me if I went in their now oc, knowing they told (implied) me not to. I carry for protection. Not to prove or try to make a point. Perhaps I'm on the wrong site.

I know this last weekend at StrEATS, we had 5 officers roll out for 4 of us carrying and they actually handled it well...no "Erik Scott-ing" happened. In fact, the LVMPD sergeant specifically said NV was OC-friendly... Megan (DooFstersGirl) has it all on video too...

Mp, you are missing the point. It doesn't get better unless it becomes normal. Our interaction this weekend with the Sgt at VegasStreats was proof that our efforts are working. He was respectful, didn't ask for ID, and was really, IMHO, an example for other LVMPD officers to follow. Especially when he says he has been on the force for XX years, but still proceeds to handle things properly, in spite of his long experience. :)

You certainly have no obligation to participate in such things, but you are missing out on an opportunity to see your constitution in action. I take my kids with me, so in 20 years, they can tell their friends about how their daddy (and a handful of his nut job friends) got the laws and LEO in NV to respect 2A.

You don't have to be an activist, but you don't know what you are missing. Come play in our reindeer games.

You're right....kind of. Antis seek to deny people their inalienable rights, whereas our agenda would be to show Big Dogs the cost of doing so.

When I initially made the statement, it was really more of speaking my fantasy out loud. And really my fantasy is to demonstrate in an obvious way how much profit they could lose in one night, and also showing them how much money (and food) they would waste by holding to their stupid anti policies. I really like what vegassteve said about mailing them receipts of money you spend at other places too. I'll just keep fantasizing about showing them how ridiculous they are and eventually get over it I'm sure. Or at least until there are 20 people interested in reserving a table for dinner anyway.
