Mp, you are missing the point. It doesn't get better unless it becomes normal...

I think I do understand. I saw on youtube 16 folks who all sat oc at a Steak n Shake (I think) and they held their ground with the cops who tried to ID them and kick them out. I loved how they never gave in. The difference for me here though is that those 16 folks had the backing of the owner. The owner told the cops to leave. That he supported the 2A and that the cops were creating a disturbance. Then there was another cafe owner who actually kicked out a cop who came in for lunch. He told the cop that his patrons do not feel comfortable around police and don't trust police and neither did he, so please leave.

In those examples, the owners were behind the movement. Same as Starbucks. Big Dogs has already informed us that they are not. Therefore, I have a very hard time seeing this as anything more than instilling your will upon others - who already asked you to leave. I would love to have Big Dogs back the movement, announce that they're backing 2A and make a big thing out of it. But we got our answer.

Sure you can go and oc until they tell you to leave again or post it. But just because it's the law (since they have no sign) doesn't make it right. We already know their policy. I respect the owner's right to make that choice. We have the choice to go elsewhere. Or we have the choice to do something that may very well give credence to the negative image that gun lovers are just as nuts as the antis. I'm not saying that that WILL happen. But I don't respect disrespecting the business owner's wishes. It's his place. Admittedly, you guys know you are, but you're ready to toy with them until the law of trespassing kicks in. I don't know. I been married 20 years. I'm used to hearing "no".

Let me know how it goes.

I never got a reply from the letter I sent, so I don't actually know their policy. I know what other people have told me their pol. is, but until I'm told by an employee or a response...I feel perfectly fine carrying into a big dogs for my first time getting food in one.

And it makes it all the more confusing when you hear other people tell you that they open carried there with a manager knowing and nothing was said.

If you're referring to my experience, just know that while I was standing next to and talking with a manager, I cannot say that he "knew" I was oc. I actually don't think he even noticed. I am finding that no matter where I have been carrying, at least 99% of the people do not even notice. Even people in my own party! But, to be fair, my holster is black. The only part of the gun that is visible is 95% black and my shirts & pants have been on the dark side as well most of the time.

In Sam's Club this week however, I wore tan shorts and a navy blue shirt. I saw some people notice - more than when I wear the darker pants.

It is not the same as Starbucks. Starbucks remains neutral; they just do not deny entry based upon a choice to be armed or not.

I didnt see the whole "same as starbucks' before. I'm not a coffee guy or a starbucks guy - but when they stood up to the Brady Compaign's request to ban guns, I - like many of you - went there and thanked them, and I bought some sorta fruit tea thingie, which was pretty good.

Off topic, but wanted to also point out they as a corporation respect the right to carry

Old thread, I know. But for what it's worth, not being able to either convince management to allow open carry or to curb my addiction to the Drafthouse brews, I cc at the Drafthouse. I do a pretty poor job of it too. Is it covered? Nah, maybe, sorta, sure.

Nothing has been said and I hope nothing will be. They do read this board. I know, I've sent them the link many times. :)

I don't think open carriers avoiding Big Dogs is making any impact on their profit margins, so there shouldn't be any change in their policy.

For what it's worth, I don't know of a Big Dogs near my house. But if I did find one, I would go instead to PT's or Sierra Gold for this reason alone.

Soo, if they are reading this, that's one less customer - they can take it for whatever value that is to them. :)

I know it doesn't affect them.

But I was a regular at the location on Nellis and Owens. I quit going years ago and have been a regular at PT's now. Shortly thereafter, the Nellis location closed. Ha ha.

Not Draft House...Big Dogs.

Draft house= big dogs draft house. It's the draft house because that's where they make the beer.

But yes I was asked to disarm there a few years ago. That is why I started this thread.

It is possible they rethought their position, I seriously believe their is no issue. The managers office is on the left side (strong side to me ) when you go to the restroom. I sat at the bar Etc. N. L:as Vegas PD was also sitting at the bar OC one time.

Ah, haven't noticed that on their big sign. I always equated Big Dogs with pics of "big dogs" on their wall by Nellis. I always pictured Draft House on Rancho with the Clydesdale or whatever horse that is.
