I OC'd into Dicks today looking for a large bag shooting rest. They didn't have one. Anyway I don't think I've OC'd in there before so I thought I would post it. No problems. Got the normal look from the the guy who I asked about the rests they had. It's hard to describe but the look feels as if he notices it, then tries hard to pretend like it's nothing unusual, but it comes across as unnatural because he's trying so hard. OR maybe I'm just dreaming in up. :)
Anyway this thread didn't really take off. I guess there's only three people in the whole state that OC.
Five, when PistolPackingMomma and her hubby are in town! :D

This thread may only be frequented by a handful of members, but having local OC reports are big help. Lets us know if any LEO is trying to throw a wrench in the works. And when you think about it, we have almost the whole state covered. Im usually in the northern part of WV OC'ing, and I think you're in the central area. I know we have one active OC'er in the south and eastern part as well.

Wasn't it the Rt. Rev. Moses Browning that said, "Whenever two or more are gathered in my name...." and "Go forth and multiply"? I don't remember if he coined the words "Army of One", but it sounds like him. :D

I'm in the Eastern Panhandle. Martinsburg area.

Saw a guy in AutoZone last week OCing.

OC'd today to Allegheny Optical, Lowes & Sheets.

My daughter (Shepardstown Sheets) sees a couple guys a week that OC there.

That's great to hear. It does feel a little lonely never seeing any OCers.

I'm surprised I haven't seen you at some point Shallnot. Although I do hate shopping, I OC all the time in Martinsburg. The only time I don't is when I have to go to MD which is too often.
It is just a matter of time I guess.

Snuck over to Virginia and OC'd at CiCi pizza. No problems but it was the first time in that location so thought I'd post it.

I'm sure we have, or will pass one another some time. I don't OC all the time, there are times when I just don't want to be bothered with stupid questions or idiotic looks. Sometimes, I just want to pick up my twinkies, vienna sausages and 30 pack toilet paper rolls and go home.

Yesterday I saw a Gentleman outside Martinsburg Walmart, open carrying not one but two Semi Auto's. It did my heart good to see this, I just regret not being able to stop and engage him in conversation, I was carrying a Glock 19 albeit a little more discreetly.

There has been a number of sighting's in Martinsburg of late, and I'm loving it....

Yesterday : OC'd after work to Lowes to pick up a wick for the kerosene heater, a kerosene can and siphon pump. Sheets (Kearneysville) for kerosene and lunch.

Yes indeed! Nothing better than a Kerosene heater. Cheaper than home heating oil, and provided light and heat when teh power is out or the SHTF.

If anyone is thinking about getting one, MAKE SURE you ONLY buy the clear "K-1 Kerosene" and NOT the red crap some places try to sell you.
I only buy the Kerosense at either Sheetz or Get-Go.

Thanks for your interest Grapeshot, and twoskinsonemanns thanks for all the stories. Your continued commitment to this thread has certainly motivated me to open carry more. Please keep up the good work. As for me, open carry last week was limited to deer camp on my own property. Not really noteworthy, but OC non the less. The trip home was a little chilly for OC, so CC and out came the wool cap. Winter already?:(:(

I havent been here for awhile, im still here and still carrying. Been hunting hard no buck in the freezer, but having fun. I did break down and take my CC class have not yet got the permit. If ever there is a meet and greet that is closer to my area I will do my best to attend. Im half way between Charleston and Parkersburg on I-77. I have been trying to educate as many as possible on carrying concealed and open. Too many get their info. from the wrong place, word of mouth is not the best method, state laws dont go into the game laws aspect, read both state and the game law phamplet. WV Game Reg.s give much more information on having a loaded gun in a car. It is amazing how many dont know, understand, or take the time to read the laws. I did have an encounter with a Natural Resource Police Officer, very uneventful, checked my fishing licsens, told me that water fowl season was about open and that OC'ing I would be considered hunting if I was on a water way, and without my A-1 pistol stamp and water fowl stamp I could get a citation. Unless I had a CC and was carrying CC. But that my Judge which I had shoots .410 shotgun shells even CC the wrong or right depending how you would look at it would write me a ticket, withou the proper licsens.

Nice of the DNR to enhance you outdoor experience. So if I was rabbit hunting near a stream, would I need a waterfowl stamp also? This is exactly why these laws need changed; carrying a handgun for self defense is not hunting. A simple change to WV Code Chapter 20-2-5 from "firearm" to "long gun" would be an excellent start, and put somewhat of an end to these shenanigans. I would encourage you to share this story with your state reps this upcoming legislative session.

And by the way, how long is the barrel on the Judge -- over 4"?

The barrel is 3in, there needs to be some real changes in our gun/hunting laws. It is my pet peev. It is almost impossible to OC in the outdoors and be 100% legal, I guess it's left up to the officer to decide what you were doing. But we know that no LEO ever decides wrong, there always right. (that was sarcasim) Our state color should be 50 Shades of Grey!!!!

open carry in berkeley county

Hello! im new to this forum but not new to open carrying. I moved to WV 2 years ago and have been open carrying a good amount..I love it here way better that maryland where I came from and all there lame gun laws almost makes you feel like its pointless to have one..I want to get my cc but have'nt had the change to yet and ive really like open carrying so ive kinda been putting it off..Right now I mostly carry my g21sf or the g32..Gone everywhere in berkeley county with it and martinsburg and inwood..Not any crazy problems but one time in safeway I was in the baby sections getting baby food where a guy was stocking shelves right next to me and looked down and was like WOOOOWO you have a gun man..lol I was like yeah and he said is it that bad out there? So I replied and said it could be you never know what could happen..so he went on to ask if I had a permit..I just asked where he was from and he said maryland but works in WV..So I explained the gun laws to him and told him theres alot of people who may carry but you just dont see them..He was cool after I talked to him a little while..I think I may have converted him lol..Other than that I havent had any harassment yet..People come up to me mostly and ask if I have a permit because they dont know the states law..My wife has started to open carry as well because she feels nervous going out late. Two guys came up to her last week at walmart and told her it was cool and one girl the same night asked why she was carrying and my wife said for protection and that was that and they started talking about there hair and all blah blah..I've only seen a few people open carrying since ive lived in WV so I kinda wish I saw it more..Oh and went to tannermans last saturday to get ammo and check out some handguns for my wife and a trooper came in..no problem and didnt say anything about me open carrying..sorry so long, thanks guys have fun
