Moderator's statement

Having chosen to restate an opinion on public forum (rather than by PM) after a decision to edit/delete has obviously been made, demands an equally public response. Doing so is patently placing your personal thoughts as above the decisions of the administration and cannot and will not be condoned. All reference to this subject on this thread will be deleted.

Many of us feel that any connection to alcohol and guns has potential negative consequences, myself included BUT not withstanding any laws to the contrary, having drink should not be cause to disarm in and of itself. What was objected to in the deleted post was beyond good taste/decorum and was considered insulting is the following sentence:
"If they get lucky, your kin might find you hog tied in a sack somewhere downstream in Back Creek."

Even if tongue-in-cheek, the mere hint that someone might forfeit their life for violation of your opinion of personal conduct is more than I am willing to accept.

Continued one man hammering at a single point of opinion also transcends what will be accepted on this forum - doing so becomes a form of trolling. The site owners define what the limits are on OCDO, not the individual registrants/users.

Today I made the courageous (If I do say so myself) trek across the border into... dun dun dun..... another state. I hate leaving WV but I wanted to find some RC Airplane engine parts and the only place even remotely close to me was over in...Virginia.
Well I just went for. Ended up OCing my .357 into Mcdonalds, Sheetz gas station and a very nice hobby shop called Hobby Town. I'm not sure anyone noticed until I went into Hobby Town. This lady was helping me find parts and there was that moment where you see them see the firearm and then look into your face...Looking for signs of menace maybe? I don't know but she smiled very nicely and didn't say anything about it. She was not only helpful but personable.

All in all it was a nice trip to the....outside.

Hobbytown is a great place.
I haven't OC'ed yet in VA.

The wife and I were up in the Huntington, WV area this past weekend (8/17-8/20) for her family reunion across the Ohio River in Ohio. We generally choose to limit our time in Ohio as much as possible because of some of the states goofy firearm laws, so we spend most of our money in WV and KY. We stayed at the Best Western in Barboursville where we normally stay and I've OCed there on various occasions without incident. While coming and going I OCed at Olive Garden, Chilis, Starbucks and Outback Steakhouse in addition to the Walmart there in Barboursville and then at Jim's Steak and Spaghetti in downtown Huntington. I did some OCing over in South Point, Ohio as well and had no issue there or in WV. In fact some of the family who were CCing and me OCing were put on alert to keep an eye on everyone, especially the kids out at the playground as there had just been a bank robbery just down the road while the reunion was going on.

On the way up and back I regularly OC in Lewisburg and Beckley as well, but didn't take the opportunity on this particular trip. Unfortunately I had to CC while in the new Cabelas in Charleston, but I did enjoy the Cabelas just the same.

Had a great day OCing. Went to a Sheetz gas station parking lot where I traded a canoe for a nice little S&W 38.
Then OC'd to a liquors store, then on the way home stopped into a gas Shell gas station and picked up a diet Mt. Dew
No problems. OCing my Sig 9mm in Serpa paddle.

Bummer. I only had it on CL. Sure wish this site had a WTS section. Much rather deal with you good people.

Also OC'd all over the place yesterday. Carrying a Bersa Ultra Compact Pro 9mm in a custom "luvthegun" leather holster. Ended up going to the range with my recently acquired S&W 38. Very enjoyable, put a box of rounds down range. Also took the opportunity to give the shotgun a little range-love. It hasn't been shot in 2-3 years. Something awesome about shooting 12ga slugs at steel targets.

Once more into the breach... Out of state I mean :D

OC'ed into VA various places and shops. Only interaction of any kind was the owner of the Glass Doctor. He asked what kind of gun it was. Then we had a great conversation about Sig Sauers, AR-15s, and where we like to target practice. It was a fine time.

All things good.

One other thing, a couple of days again I was OCing in WV at a Shell gas station. A sheriff LEO happened to get out of his sleek black Charger and walk in at the same time I did. I nodded, he just glared.... He seemed like kinda a dick but did not try to stop me...so good. I'd rather have a jerk LEO respect my rights than a friendly cop smile while he detained me illegally.

First Time OC`ing Today

Im from Annapolis, MD but spend a lot of time with family in Martinsburg, WV. Today I opened carried for the first time into the spring mills Walmart and sheets. When I got out of the car at sheets with my G19 holstered there were two LEO`s standing next to where I parked the looked at my side arm nodded and kept talking.... a little bit freighting at first because I'm only 21 I wasn't sure if it would be a issue but reassuring in the end. So as far as I'm concerned it was a good first experience.

Great! Thanks for participating. My condolences about being from MD.

How do you travel from MD into WV? I have yet to find a legal way to transport into MD.

I would think that he would be covered by The Firearms Owners' Protection Act from his house where legal to WVA where legal.

You on the other hand lack, I presume, the element of it being legal on both ends. If you were going to a range in Maryland (presume they still have them) and no where else, you would be good.

Now there is something more rare than the fabled unicorn - a pro gun advocate from Maryland that has a Md. permit. How well connected is that?

We shall not hold that against you though - you may be able to provide valuable, first hand insight into Marylandinski thought process. Good to have you on board.

Sincerely hope you never need it. If you ever get to Richmond, Va., I'll buy you dinner in exchange for the story in private.

Papered in Md. Can't get over it. You're only the second person that I've ever personally communicated with that is so blessed.

BTW - I used to live in Balimer a lifetime ago - Balto. City College and Hopkins.

Yeah, for an extremely anti gun state, what puzzles me most is its actually quite easy to obtain a CLEO sign off for NFA/Class III firearms and suppressors.
Getting a CLEO here in SW PA to do anything, even picking up the phone is harder than pulling wisdom teeth.

Hell, I had to go to four different police station just to get some fingerprinting done.

I haven't been posting all my OCing ventures as this thread is turning into only a few folks sharing.... but I figure i will keep it going every couple weeks.

OCed my .357 in paddle holster today. Had a great conversation with the owner of a auto-shop doing a state inspection for me. We talked about the anti-2A gun range near his house and how he is scrambling to get his Concealed Permit and a couple of "battle rifles" before the FEDs steal those right from us..... seemed like a smart guy.

Open carried on the way home from WV. It was right on the state line, but close enough. Gas, gallon of milk, and nothing said just like it should be.:D
