I am sure this falls under a federal building for National Parks.

Firearms are prohibited in federal buildings where federal employees work. This includes visitor centers, park administrative offices, maintenance buildings, and ranger stations.

And we know why don't we, it is because the US Goverment gives such great service......

How come the postal employees can have them then? Or at least they used to; they gave us the term "Going Postal" after all.

Had my first couple little interactions the other day. Not positive. Not Negative

I was standing in line at a safeway in Eugene. dude gets in line behind me.

I could kind of see that he was looking out of the corner of my eye, I guess he thought it was a phone at first because he goes "woah, you are fully loaded aren't you?"

I say "uh, yeah."

he says "What do you do?" (expecting the answer to be some kind of police officer or service member )

"I am a software engineer"

Him: *dumbfounded look* "You don't see that every day"

Me: "Yeah I guess"

The second one was at a eugene starbucks. I was standing over by the counter where the drinks come up.

I see the guy in front of me, leaning in, looking intently. As if he was checking out a small stain on my him.

"Woah, you are really packing aren't you??" he says.

He then asks a few questions about my gun, what kind, what caliber, etc. a few people in front of me get visibly uncomfortable, one gets up and leaves ( I can't be sure it was because of me though )

There were a bunch of people in there and it made me pretty uncomfortable having the "yes-I-have-a-gun" conversation within earshot of everyone.

Both of these times I was dressed pretty respectably. And it seems like they both had the same reaction.

First it was just the "Alert,Alert. I see a gun" automatic thought process. And then they seemed to realize that there wasn't any danger.

Thanks for putting us back on topic Matt.

Was on vacation last week. Carried throughout Sisters, over to crater lake, there was one building, some kind of gift shop I
think that had a no firearm sign so I stayed outside while my wife went in. (As I was bent over reading the fine print the guy that had just came out stopped and stared wide-eyed at my glock) The sign said it was a federal facility somehow but none of the other buildings had that... I didn't notice anyways.

On over thru roseburg to coos bay, all the way down the coast to Ca. OC the whole way. But I would NEVER bring a gun into Ca. That would be illegal, HONEST! Would I lie?

Was a relief getting back into Oregon again. I felt naked the whole time we were down there.

That's what I do :)
Open carried into Walgreens last night and the guy behind the counter knows me I bought some energy drinks (I was crashing) and he handed them to me and I asked for a bag.. He says whoa man don't shoot no body! Laughing and the lady walkin up goes.. Are you being robbed!!! I have pepper spray!! We both laugh and he told me he woul explain so I left an he was left talking to her I laughed all the way home. She looked really concerned and eager to help.

Goverment Gift Shop?????

The big gift shop by the rim I didn't see any sign, maybe I missed it, but I carried openly in there.
It was pretty crowded but nobody really even seemed to care. That other one was down the road a piece as I recall.
Maybe I broke the law in that first shop. Who knows?

I open carried last Saturday.

Saturday Hillsboro Market: Went well. One go looked me up and down. Oh well!

Fred Meyer: Everything fine there. No weird stares. I did however have to swerve out of the way of some dude. He swung really close to my strong-side. I side-stepped and moved my hand closer to my weapon in case he made a grab. It pays to be aware. I don't think he was going for it, but I decided to be safe.

Looking at apartments today first one I went to (on baseline cross from coyotes) it was all fine then when she took us to go see the apartment she saw my gun and asked for my CHL. I told her I don't have one. She said then how can I OC? She is from Cali and her brother is San diago chief of police.. I told her I don't need a CHL to OC in Oregon. She was shocked and just showed us around. She wouldn't let us see the apartment.
Went to 7 other places one lady was awesome loved that I OC 775 for two bedrooms! Woot!

More and more places are doing that around the country. You don't get to see the actual available apartment until you are ready to move into it. If it is not as you expected or were promised, what are you going to do - not move in and live in your moving truck? They have you by the short hairs.

It may not be illegal, but IMO is highly unethical.

When I was in that industry, we got the unit ready for move in before offering it for rent. I fact we wouldn't enter into a lease until the prospective tenant saw the completed/finished, ready for occupancy apartment.

There is nothing illegal about bringing a gun into California. SOME guns are prohibited (AR's, the "Judge" and it's variants, Hi Cap mags, etc.) but not all guns are prohibited and if it is legal in California you can bring in into the state with you. I NEVER go to Calif without at least one handgun and in fact I sometimes take one with a "hi cap" magazine taking full advantage of the exception for "high cap" mags that were at one time lawfully possessed in Calif, taken out of the state, and brought back in. As the state issued me a CCW for that particular weapon, there is documentation that I at one time possessed it lawfully in the state.

I'm also trying to develop a "California Legal" holster that would allow on person carry in a useful manner while complying with their BS laws. One version would most likely have a clear panel to allow the weapon to be seen....for those who really like to push buttons.....but still be fully compliant with current Calif law.

Thanks for the info, I wasn't sure on Cal law. I can't stand that state, the only reason I went is because my wife has family down there. Oregon is nice, I was actually born/raised here, but I'd love to get back to AZ. You'd see people OC'ing EVERYWHERE!

I went to the one off Cornelius. It's convenient since I live less than 10 minutes away, depending on traffic. My wife actually warned me about going to the market. She said there would be lots of people, which was obvious. To be honest, I was a tad nervous. I used to be really shy and I've built up TONS of courage since a teenager, but something about the chance of having cops harass you on a Saturday with your son puts a twist in my unders. Once I was there, I was as happy as a bug in a rug :) Friendly faces and smiles!

I get that one a LOT.
The waiter/waitress notices your sidearm and suddenly every waiter-busboy-cook-manager in the whole restaurant suddenly has a reason to walk by your table.

I just order a beer and ignore it

I did but my wife doesn't like attention; specially while she's eating and I really hate how they wait till you take a bite to ask how the service is lol

At the chevron by 185th next to Safeway I heard a guy behind me say "damn that takes air of balls to OC" I turned had a great conversation with him. Later at a smoke shop I met two guys who had questions 1. Being a marine and the other army. We chatted a bit and I gave them the website and was on my way

I will be heading into tanasbourne (barns and noble and all of those stores

Olive Garden, Hwy 22 cafe, (I really gotta stop eating out so much) nobody really seems to care in this town.
Except for some rude remarks at one restaurant a while back, everyone pretty much seems ok with OC.

So why don't I see more folk oc'ing this summer? I rarely see another person doing it.
Come winter I will be mostly CC for obvious reasons but its kinda too hot to try to conceal right now.

People just too shy/nervous or what?
