Concealed Carry Applications, Gun Sales Increase Statewide Nov 25, 2011 8:37 a.m.

Concealed carry is taking hold in Wisconsin.

As of Tuesday,the state Justice Department had received just shy of 45,000 permit applications.

The agency had approved a little more than 13,000 applications and issued about 12,700 permits.

Just called WI DoJ: very nice lady was very patient and helpful. She indicated that the 45 day run starts with he day they received your application. Then they go into one of several queues. Like ech processor has a queue. If your queue has a lot of people needing more extensive background checks or rejection letters then that queue moves much more slowly. Likewise, if the queue has an less experienced worker or a slower data entry capability that slows the queue. She indicated that she believes all will be processed within the 45 day mandate. Also, if check cashed, then cursory review of all documents was completed and everything appeared acceptable. She said I could call back after 45 days ndvshe could check further for me if I hadn't received my permit by then.

Yup, and he made the rounds in the northwoods today. Nutczak's only a few miles away. Santa hit my house too. Received mine today too, issued: 12/7, 21,9XX also. 40 days from mailbox to mailbox for us both.

I wonder if we got consecutive numbers... that'd be weird.

Ours are 22 numbers apart, yours was done before mine, I was real close to being in the 22K range. real close!!

Yep, it is exactly the same material as a WI DL.

Same material(s) perhaps but much simpler and with much less obvious security, if any.

Another state's CWP duplicates the DL except for the title, titlebar color. Let's hope Wisconsin doesn't join Real ID.

I will throw my hat in the ring on this topic also.

Put the permit+check+proof of safety course in the mail late 11-1-11. I am being generous in thinking that the USPS got it there within two days (its just over an hour and a half drive from Milwaukee) .

I sent a money order and checked with my bank and found that it cleared 11/21/11.

Its 12-14 and i have not received either the permit or rejection letter (not that I should).

In reading the timeline on this forum it seems that the gap from check cash to permit received is getting greater and greater.

I will update when I receive the permit so that people that submitted after me can get a feel for where we are in wait time.
