OCed along with 16 others men and woman at 5 guy burgers. Burgers were good. Had two persons I have not seen before. We had another great group outing, good visiting no issue at all with OCing. Another great Job by SharpShootur.
It was a nice turnout. The company and the bugers were great. Wow was it noisy though.

A tin foil hat reflects nothing. A tin ceiling reflects everything.

I think the noise (excitement?) is by design. It's the polar opposite of dead si lence.

There burgers are great for fast food emporiums.

OC on my evening walk at Cornerstone Park around the lake. Got a double-take at a Green Valley Groceries this evening. Guy then asked if worked for HPD. "Nope, I'm not even a cop." A shrug and that was it. The clerk did seem a little forceful with my change, but he looked like the athletic type.

Approached by Employees

I'll definitely second what what he said about being approached by employees of a business who request you disarm of leave the property.

While I lived in Las Vegas, now a current Tucson resident, I once visited a Walmart in northwest Las Vegas. As I was walking by electronics an older male employee abruptly approached me and asked if I was a police officer. When I told him that I was not a police officer he told me that firearms were not allowed in that store. I told him that I knew from prior visits and current Walmart policy that they follow the law of most states. I finished my shopping and went home without event.
Upon arrival at home I called that Walmart and asked to speak with the General Manager. After a short time on hold the General Manager picked up the line. I explained the encounter I had with the old employee from the electronics she apologized for the way the older employee treated me. She mentioned that from the description I provided she knew which employee I was describing to her. She told me that she would speak with that employee to ensure that this did not happen again. She additionally explained that she would mention my event at an employee meeting the following morning explaining Walmart's policy on firearms in their stores. She assured me that the situation that occurred to me would not happen again.
Before we ended our conversation she gave me with her telephone number and email address to contact in the event I have any addition problems in the future. She was very pleasant and did the right thing.
If you are ever approached by an employee who takes issue with you open carrying ask for the employees name and request that he/she and aske to speak with a manager. More often than not you will get a positive resolution to an open carry confrontation.

For me there are only a few places on my top no go list. Casinos, Costco, Red Robins, Town Square and Malls, for the most part don’t give them my business. Every place else I do not worry about it.
Finding an employee that decided to go against the corporate policy or impose their own version of gun rules use to be common. At the time on open carry .org many posters had an unofficial standard procedure. Basically, by saying respecting their right to asking anyone to leave and will however first, would like to see a copy of their no gun policy, most will not have one, ask to talk to the manager, If the a manger shows up ask him for a copy. I like to tell them most business in Nevada does follow state gun laws by allowing legal firearms. Ask them for their name and a contact number to complain. Follow up with a compliant.
Since we have history with PTs one of our more successful battle. Should have taken that manager to task. After PTs head of security meet with the OC.org posters we had a OC meet and greet at the PTs that ran off our OC posters. I believe we had around 25 OCing in that PTs.
I am of the opinion our push back is why we see fewer of these rogue employees. Some of the posters have received apologize. Some where on opencarry.org is a posting of I believe the e-mail from PTs saying we were invited.
I never had any luck with open carry’s search program.

In general, I disagree with that advice to remain in an attempt to go up the food chain immediately. You should always assume that any employee who so informs you has been given the authority to do so. Because if you are wrong, you are in violation of the law from the moment that employee asked you to leave. The law does not require the direction to leave to come from management. Unless you are SURE a manager will very quickly override that employee, you should leave immediately if asked to do so. Call the manager from the parking lot. This will accomplish perhaps even more of a positive resolution because you first did as the employee requested.

Yes, I see your exact circumstance was more specific in that it does not appear that you were actually given a request to leave, and you were also knowledgeable of what the store policy SHOULD be, based on corporate policy. But I wanted to be cautionary about inferring general advice from it.

Open carried for the first time yesterday

I live up here in the Reno/ Sparks area, and I have to admit I was kinda worried about the attention open carry might bring, but I tried it. I went to a coffee house and did some work on my laptop for about an hour, then I went to blind onion for pizza with my fiancée, and finished my experiment at Wal- Mart. No one said a word!!! There was nervous staring from a mom in blind onion, but otherwise nothing. I will definitely OC in the future.

Last Saturday I went to Davidson's Firearms with a shooting buddy to look over some stuff. Had my XDM OC'd with no incident. Then we had lunch at nearby PT's where business was slow and no incidents occurred.

Following day, Sunday, went shooting with the same friend, and afterwards went to early dinner at Black Bear Diner on Sunset/GV Pkway. Terrific chow, crowded as heck, and not one word said about my OC'd XDM.

The “Boondock Saints” Meet-up

Erin go Bragh my fellow Open Carriers!

It’s March! And you know what that means? That means green tipped bullets, green apparel, green beer, an Irish accent, Leprechauns, rainbows with pots of gold at the end, four leaf clovers, and of course the memory of the Patron Saint of Ireland: St. Patrick!

That’s right! The Las Vegas Open Carry of Southern Nevada is “going green” and hosting another monthly meet up! Last time we decided to hang out with Five Guys Burgers and fries for a little taste of “burger-ology.” This time, we’re going to “mount up” with our fellow law abiding gun owning citizens and don slightly different apparel.

Grab your “Irish” friends and family to declare all saints day with the words “Veritas” and “Aequitas”…pistols and pizza style! Please join us for the “Boondock Saints” meet up at Anthony and Mario’s Broadway Pizzeria!

Please spread the word for the “Boondock Saints” Meet-up and remember that there is always room for you and yours at the table so please join us! The info is as follows:

Date: March 28, 2015
Time: 6:00 p.m.
Location: Anthony and Mario’s Broadway Pizzeria
840 S. Rancho Dr.
Las Vegas, NV 89106
(702) 259-9002

Hope to see you there! Remember to please bring your spouse! If you have a special someone in your life, please don’t forget to bring them too! As always, the more friends you bring the merrier! It's going to be a good time!

***PLEASE READ***
Remember, we're striving to make this a monthly event so please give me, SharpShootur, a list of any and all OC friendly restaurants and dives that you know of or find. That way, we'll have variety as well as good times!

Outback Steakhouse walking back to the vehicle to get my wife a jacket saw a young man OCing with I believe a nicely holstered 1911 type handgun. I said good to see another person open carrying. Thought good chance he was on the local forms. After a short chat he was not on the ones I asked about. I gave him one of Grand-guys cards told him about the FB page and opencarry.org Nevada. Got the jacket back to the table and the fellow OCer and his young lady companion was sat at the table next to us. He had done a great job of making himself aware of the Nevada gun laws. Showed him the FB page on the phone 10 minuets later he said he is on. His young lady friend was proud to show a picture of her new Sig.
So this weekend saw for the first time saw two OCers. The OCer at Outback and another on a motorcycle.
Happy to report two OCing at Outback Steakhouse near the Belz mall, no issues. My new OC friend did say he carried in Belz Mall no issues.

LV Lowe's, Sam's, Walmart

Not much of an incident, but did have a customer in Walmart say "oh really" sarcastically when there was no one else in the isle but him and me. Figured it was meant in response to my obvious oc. I ignored him.

Had a cashier in Lowe's say, "I was like, does that guy have a gun. Yes, he does." But that was ALL that was said. I didn't even reply but to smile.

Customers at Sam's were talking to themselves about my oc and then quickly scurried off as soon as I starting walking in their direction. And another customer (as we walked out of the bathroom together) asked how I got so scarred up (rude), but no question about my gun. Don't think he noticed it. I told him, "I asked a complete stranger an inappropriate personal question is how I got scarred up". Just kidding. But will use that next time.

All very uneventful.

Oh, and an employee from Big Dog's Drafthouse spotted me in Walmart oc. She later said to me at Big Dog's that she didn't know I carried. I told her, "Always. You just don't see it when I'm here because your boss asked me not to show it. But it is always there." She said, "Cool, I like that!"

New Here

I just joined the group today. I'm just starting to dig in to the information and stories I found here on Opencarry.org. Thanks to all who support the law and help guide others to being aware of what is legal and acceptable with regards to our 2nd amendment.

I haven't carried very often, but I went out today OC. I have read the laws and the suggestions made here and other places online and decided I was ready to "put it to the test". It's all about confidence.

I did some research on accepted OC locations in Sparks/Reno area before I went out. I found info at ZeeMaps-Reno Open Carry.

I went to Spanish Springs Home Depot-- got some questioning looks from other customers, but no comments and no issues otherwise.
Lunch at 5 Guys Reno. A customer gave my SW40 a long look as I walked thru. I met his eyes and nodded. No issue. The teenage girl at counter definitely saw my OC, but didn't say anything. Got my food and left, no issues otherwise.
Total Wine and More Reno-a manager followed me down an aisle where I was headed. I knew exactly what I was going after, so I stopped and waited. He stopped to talk to some other customers nearby about beverages. They all saw my OC, no problems. Sales clerk was too involved with other conversation. Don't think she even noticed. Some others noticed, but no issues.
Was gonna go to Cabela's out west, but had heard rumors of NO carry allowed. Called first to avoid the long drive. (deleted)

A good day. I think it is less common here up north for OC. Many others I know have their CCW, so they CC while out. It's more likely I'll OC more often when I go out. I was alone today. I'm considering getting my CCW for when the family is with me. My wife isn't afraid of guns, but not really comfortable with "showing it off" while out. We'll see what happens.

Glad to be part of the "Gun Nut" fraternity.

David

Cabelas is a no go? What exactly did they say when you called? Do you know if you talked to a manager? Did you get a name?

Also just as a FYI don't ever call a place. Most places are friendly and when you call you may just get some lackey who has no clue. Also sometimes employees will confuse what a employee can do versus a customer.

Those were my first thoughts as well, though not having a Cabela's locally, I don't keep track. Here's the most recent info I found on another thread on this forum:
Cabelas

Policy is to follow the law of the state the store located.

Thank you for the recent email. I am very sorry for the confusion that took place at our retail location.
Our corporate office has taken action in regards to the below mentioned issue and here is what has been decided.
We have made the decision to comply with state laws in regards to open carry. We do not ask customers to check concealed or open carry weapons where the state has laws governing this situation. Our signs refer to firearms that are being returned or sold to Cabela's.

If you are still having problems please feel free to let us know

Thanks again

I did an electrical job for a coworker of a forum member's girlfriend, so I knew that they knew that we were carriers. So even though I didn't think they themselves were, I OC'ed when I showed up to do the job. No one cared at all. It was as if it was perfectly normal for your electrician to show up with a big stainless steel .45 revolver on this hip while he worked.
