I will try again at Cabela's

After reading some other things that I didn't see before I called Cabela's, I figure the "operator" just didn't have a clue. It figures they are indeed OC accepting. Some other things, including on here, make me think they "gun check" policy is for sales/repairs. If I find I have need for hunting/camping/etc supplies and make the 20 mile drive, I'll be ready to OC. I didn't bother today because it was more a test, and the drive out there would have been rather fruitless. Confidence for the next time.

I did have to go out again for a few other things this evening, not relating to Cabela's.
I went to the N Reno, Lemmon Drive Walmart. Got looks from customers, and recognition that I was OC by an employee, but no issues. The long lines and extremely slow single open "express" lane was another matter. No self checkouts here, prepare to wait. I ditched my groceries before paying and left with no incident.

I then stopped at N McCarran Winco that I knew would have more lanes open. Patrons were aware of my OC, but no comments. As I stated before, as well as others, N Nevada is not populated with a lot of OC'ers. I'll do my part to change that.

Welcome to OC.org. I think you will enjoy the information and friendship of those hanging out here.

Not many, but they are definitely there! A majority of those that OC do it out of convenience like while grabbing supplies on their way out to the desert to shoot anyways. I did, however, see a guy in S. Virginia Target OCing the other day. I just said thanks for OCing as I walked by him but I don't really know how he took it.

Good day at Cabela's

After imitating a "sheeple" yesterday, and I'm ashamed of that, I took the opportunity to drive out to Cabela's OC and walk around for a few things. As often happens, there's always more to be found than at first planned. I went straight in, the greeter directly saw my OC and was polite and courteous. I kept on walking, no incident, not even a mention to me of the "please keep holstered schpiel" mentioned on other sites. Couldn't remember the layout of the store, so took a full walk around. Had planned on some more ammo and a mag holster. Ended up going all the way around. Of course, then I started looking at other stuff that needed attention....boots, clothing, camping gear, other distracting scenery.

Got my ammo, picked up a lock box for my truck(because I'm sure I'll eventually get asked to leave somewhere while OC) and headed off to pay. Nobody said a word, no incidents. Be polite and know your own business and you'll get by easily. There were a lot of people that noticed my OC. The Reno Cabela's is closer to CA state line than Reno, so it does cater to many that come over for lower taxes and such. They may not be aware of NV law, but they realize they aren't in their home state where OC is not legal.

Observation: Up here in Northern Nevada it is much less COMMON to see OC. There are those of us now that will do it no matter the (legal) location. I think the disconnect comes from our proximity to CA and the mindset hammered into the minds of those sheeple that try to liberalize us.

Stopped at the Los Altos Panda Express for lunch on my way home. A long stare from an older gentleman with his younger family, but I met his eyes and passed on a polite nod, and he stopped paying direct attention.

Glad to see you're acclimating to the OC lifestyle. I have a love/hate relationship with Panda. I love their food, but I hate that they selectively give a military discount. Sometimes it's "OH HERE YA GO 10% OFF" and other times they're like "WTF WE DON'T DO DISCOUNTS." *rolleyes*

OC'd at the Black Bear Diner, Green Valley Parkway/Sunset (next to the GV Library). The cashier eyed my appendix-carried Glock but didn't say a word about it as I walked to the back counter and took a seat. Only seat avail, and there was a long waiting list for a table. This place is PACKED on weekends, everyone brings their family, lots of kids, but nobody said a word about my OC.

Rueben sandwich was very good, but not as good as their Southern Scramble which is the "Heart Attack on a Plate." They are famous for their breakfast fare. American "Comfort Food" done exceptionally well.

Pointy end and slightly to the left
OCing on a motorcycle campout with a motorcycle camping group at Cottonwood Cove Lake Mojave. OCed past the entry pay station strong side to the money taker. Very friendly no issue. OCed in the campground, RV Park, on the boat docks, store no issues. Open carried in Harry Reid’s town, through Laughlin and Bullhead City.

Picked up my girl from the baggage claim at Reno Tahoe International Airport today. Got a few looks, but no approaches or lowering of the DEFCON level ;)

OC'd today at the DMV on American Pacific and Stephanie to register my first car. No problems at all. Saw a fellow OC'er.

I haven't been posting a lot since most of my time has been taken up with school and facebook. So I figured it is time for an update:)

Friday night I ran into Albertson's (not carrying because I was on my way to a friend's and planning to drink) and as I was leaving I saw a gentleman carrying! We chatted for a little bit but he isn't online or I would have directed him here. Sunday we went to Saver's and Albertson's with no issues while carrying. All in all gotta love the neutral/positive experiences:)

Utmost Gratitude

Hello everyone. As most of you already know, I don't usually post many of my OC stories. However, I have a wonderful story to share with you all that happened tonight at 10:00 p.m.

I decided to go out to IHOP this evening, located on the corner of Pebble St. and Eastern Ave., and enjoy a Philly Stacker along with their appetizer sampler. While I was dinning, I noticed a group of persons sitting just a couple tables away from me to my right. I observed them for awhile since they seemed to be older persons and sometimes, especially with me, they tend to feel uneasy. You see a lot of people think that what they see on television about criminals in certain ethnicities applies to all members of that ethnic group. Of course that's not true. They appeared to be enjoying themselves and not paying any attention to me. I'd say there were about six people in their party.

Anyway, they were finishing up when I received my order. I took my time and enjoyed my meal, no big deal. I soon found myself to be the only patron in the restaurant and I decided that it was time to retrieve the bill for payment and adjourn for the evening.

I notified the waiter that I was ready to pay for my meal. He said that I didn't have a bill to pay. I thought, ARE YOU SERIOUS?! I inquired as to why I didn't have a bill. That's when he told me that the party whom were sitting to my right had taken notice of my open carry and decided to pay for my meal.

I was FLABBERGASTED! Those persons supported me for open carrying by paying for my meal!! That's unheard of! If anyone here was a part of that party who was dining at IHOP, please accept my utmost gratitude.

Absolutely LOVE this story, for a whole bunch of reasons.

That's VERY cool!

Not NV, but our daughter and 5 friends went out for a pre prom supper at a very nice restaurant. 3 couples. Somebody paid for their entire meal including desert cause they noticed that they prayed before their meal. They weren't planning on desert because of the price, but we're planning on DQ. That had to be close to $300 I bet.

You need to hear things like this once in a while to maintain you faith in humanity!

Saw a fellow open carrier in Walmart today. He was busy with his kid so all I had time for was a quick compliment. Good to see it!

Monthly meet ups to no longer be posted for ocdo

To ALL my Las Vegas, NV OCers here on OCDO:

I wish to thank all of you for your support of a series of monthly events that I have assisted in and/or conducted the planning of for well over a year. Yes, I know, it's hard to believe that I've been doing this since November 2013. My first post, which was assisted by 28kfps, back then only drew 3 OCers and his wife. And that was just to meet with me, my first public OC experience, on the Freemont Street Experience.

It has been brought to my attention that my activities here on OCDO is considered spamming:

(7) NO SPAMMING: Links to spam/membership sites not related directly to firearms are NOT allowed under any circumstances! It is also considered spamming to post the same thread (even valid ones) to multiple forums.

Although I DO NOT consider what I've been doing as spamming (which means that info has to be posted multiple times in more than 2 threads), and technically copy and pasting other people's statements regarding the same topic here on this forum, which is done routinely, would also be considered spamming. I will simply concede to the powers that be and no longer post monthly events here on OCDO.

Again, thank you all for your support.

Sincerely,

SharpShootur
