Re: Where did you carry today and how did it go?

I am driving to Vegas. I will be staying @ green valley ranch, if I check in while OCing and they don't like it will they ask me to put it away or will they cancel my reservation? I don't want to lose my room, but would like to exercise my right. If I posted this in the wrong place I am sorry.

Check in first, while not OC. Once you are checked in, your tenancy has something of a protected status. They can 86 you from the casino floor, buffet, etc, but your room is your room (and the immediate path to it).

You're lucky you didn't get a gun in your face there. I'm stationed at Nellis and the base commander told us not to visit that one because there's been tons of people that have had issues there. Head on down to the one on Craig. They're friendly there and the wife and I have had no issues whatsoever with management or employees there.

hey gang, from what i understand OC is legal in NV. so the corp. policy is to go by the state laws. my suggestion to you is this is the place you want to go to to carry. if doz's if not hundreds of carrier was to show up at this store than they would have a terrible time hassling everybody. there is also a desensitization to open carry that will pay off.

if i am wrong or if you guys don't want to carry where you will have trouble, i am sorry

I am the worst at composing a post and lousy at spelling. Not making an issue of the posters ability however, what is this posting saying?

Meh. i haven't been told not to go there or even "officially" to be careful going there. And I've never had a problem there either. Not even a "OMG look at that, he got a gun!" Honestly the only stories I've heard of people getting a gun in the face were people that were CC

On another note - I went to my buddies apartment in henderson a couple of days ago to help him work on his truck. He was studying with a classmate that was OC. I think he is a member on here but not sure, but he did ask my friend to ask me if I was going to the OCOMGWTFBBQ.

Fox rent-a-car on LV Boulevard. I was going to carry into the airport to pick up my in-laws, but my wife didn't want me to risk the hassle. I did go in with the bottom half of my holster clearly exposed...and that got no response.

Now that is funny; we are not in fear of cops or people harassing us for OCing but we do fear having a unhappy spouse. I laughed but said to myself I would have done the same to stay on the wifes good side......sad but they have all the power....lol

Had brunch at El Torito, a mexican restaurant on Boulder Highway just north of US-95 split near Railroad Pass. Then to the Lowe's on Boulder Highway and Horizon for parts. My friend/client (not a member here) had his compact Taurus .38 and I was sporting the Kimber 1911 .45. No issues, and friendly faces everywhere.

Where did you carry today and how did it go?

Checked out the car show at The District by Green Valley. No issues, maybe a couple more glances than usual - probably because of the number of people or because I was a bit more attentive to it. I recalled hearing of some folks being asked to leave there before.

There were some security that walked by on the other side of the street but didn't seem to notice or care if they did. I thought they may have been massing to come towards me when we were getting ready to leave. About five of them were directly in front of me as we were walking across and they seemed to be walking our direction at first...I was wrong.

Also got approached by a guy opening a barber shop who handed me an invitation to his shop. He clearly noticed the handgun as he did - you can't miss the 1911 on the 145 lb guy. He wasn't phased in the least - may be a barber shop option for some guys living in that area?

Nice cars out there tonight!

Smiths supermarket in Sparks ... some loud-mouthed guy out front was being obnoxious and possibly in an altered state. (Some people are loud and obnoxious in their standard state.) Walked by him with my spare mag side to him. Later he was in the store and when he saw my strong side he loudly and obnoxiously said, "Watch out, he's got a gun!"

That is the equivalent of yelling "Fire" in a crowded theater when there is no threat present.

Last Saturday I open carried for the first time in about 4 years. Of course my first stop there was a metro car in the parking lot, but by the time I got out of my car, he left.

I carried at the eye doctor and at WinCo on N. Decatur. No one said anything and it was quite uneventful, which was great.

I plan on doing this more often.

Welcome. You'll be surprised how easy it is. I actually forget all about it most places. When I get flagged down by an inquisitive civvy, it takes me a moment to register what they could possibly want..

I'll put in a plug for my favorite gun shop (by far.) Wild West Guns is having a salmon bake tomorrow at their store on Wynn Road (@Ali Baba.) They will also have some very good deals on some guns for that day only. I got a sneak peak at the double-top-secret sale list when I was in there today putting my name on the list for some other items, and just generally harassing the ladies behind the counter.

OC is welcome in their store. They are bringing the salmon in fresh from their Alaska store.

I was at their BBQ a few months ago when some guy was telling his girl that the hammer was cocked on my pistol. I always get a kick out of that.

I OC'd as usual at the ViMSAR rifle match at DSRPC last Saturday. One of the members (and a former match director) asked me to remove the magazine again. I think he likes me carrying, just doesn't want the group to get in trouble for someone being loaded. I'm sure he knows the chamber stayed loaded.
