Went to visit my parents who live on the east side... Went to kohls and target on Nellis and charleston. No problems or issues walked right past the security guards at both. So far so good with open carry!

Edit:
Also uswirl Nellis and stewart. No issues. One lady informed an employee, but he didn't care at all.

Open Carry lunch in St. Charles, MO 11 August 2012

So I must admit for my FIRST OC event it went really smooth. I will do at again soon. I am not sure I am up to doing it all by myself yet, I just don’t have the muster to argue my point with the police yet. But feel more than comfortable to be part of a group doing OC. I am sure there are many out there like me? Let us hear from you. You may have reservations about attending one of these events but you never know unless you go? St. Charles is very OC friendly.

http://www.jjsstcharles.com was very friendly. Not as much as one employee even acted funny about us being there and OC. They must be used to it since I hear it’s a regular spot for OC get together. We did have a few looks from the general public, but no cops were called I think? If so they must have told them it’s legal and not responded. We did have a gentlemen stop on way out to ask about OC. Is it legal? What web site do I go to research it? Etc. He was eating near by and was listening to our conversation. We only had 4 people show up for Lunch. At first I was sad about this low showing. Then I got to conversation with David and Marc and found they had wisdom beyond my years. I was happy to speak with them for the four hours we spent chatting about everything under the sun. They were a great group of guys and I look forward to the next OC meet in St Charles or surrounding area.

SO FOR THE NEXT ONE!!!
Let's set a new record for this lunch! New to OC, you are especially invited. If you are on the fence about coming, just do it! Hide your firearm if you are uncomfortable, if you have a CCW that is. Just show up and grown the group so that others will follow. You may be pleasantly surprised as I was. You may make new friends with similar interest? Hope to see you all next time...

All sounds interesting, however to far from Nevada to drive up for lunch.

Carried on Fremont Street with The wife, Merlin, and Sabotage. All in all a good time. The rain felt good in the heat but the music sucked. Lol

Carried all around Freeport; spent more of my time in L.L. Bean. Got a few weird looks, but no panic attacks or MWAG calls despite the massive amount of tourists.

Where did you carry today and how did it go?

Saw a big fella shopping at Walmart (Sunset and marks) in Henderson tonight...a little before 8:00pm.

I was actually talking about OC being fairly normalized in Henderson when this fellow walked in front of us...I was like, "Speak of the devil...".

Perfect timing.

*Home Depot at Centennial & Tropical - There for a couple of hours. Talked to several employees. Not a single comment about my sidearm.
*Target at N. Buffalo and the 215 - Walked by security a few times, not a peep. Although, I do believe security was informed by a patron and that is why I saw so much security. But, like I said, not a peep out of anyone.
*Walmart and Sams on Centennial - nothing, as usual. Oh, but I did see Chrissy Coon (spelling?) while there. She's the face of NLVPD and always on the news.

This whole open carry thing doesn't seem to be the big "freaking out" thing that people (including my previous self) would have you to believe it is.

11AM, went to Lowe's across from where Eric Scott was murdered....

My first time with such an encounter.....
A stocker (Stuart - about 40yrs old) approached me asking about my gun and telling me how I was breaking the law. Now, I'm not gonna go all into it with the nonsense he continued to spew and the education I attempted to give him as he "followed" me through the store. Just know that I told him repeatedly that if he thought that I was breaking the law, then he needed to call Metro. He kept spewing bs and I kept trying to educate him, telling him that I normally would not even bother, but that I would now because, "...why not, just maybe you'll learn something today". I did my shopping and left. Stuart followed me through the store and to the register.

After work today when I had some time, I called the store to tell them, in detail, about the encounter. The store manager was out, so I was given the store manager on duty. I told her the laws, but suggested that she look them up herself for her own assurance that I most definitely was not breaking any laws or any Lowe's policies that I was aware of. She apologized and said that in the 11 years that she has been with Lowe's, she was unaware of any such policy forbidding customers from lawfully carrying. She said she would talk with Stuart and report the incident to the store manager upon her return.

All in all, a fantastic experience. While I may have completely waisted my time on Stuart, it gave me an opportunity to REALLY exercise my rights. Loved it!

I don't often post when nothing goes wrong - but carried getting dinner tonight at Inn and Out trop/dean martin, by the strip. I think I saw a guy or two look at me as I sat for my to go order. That place is so busy!

Nothing to report - is that ok to report nothin here? or do we want disaster stories =p

We're not reporting "nothin'" - we're showing success/acceptance of OC.

The vast preponderance of "events" are uneventful - the remaining few are seldom "major events" - extremely rare are the "cataclysmic events" that are reported in all caps or emotional rhetoric.

And, if the vast preponderence of event reports is of poor encounters, that is the perception delivered. If the vast preponderence of event reports is of successful non-encounter carry events, that will be the perception delivered.

cops cant carry

So I just got back from donating blood at united blood service on Craig and Decatur. They did not notice I was carrying until I was about 1/2 way done with my donation. when I was in the wait area after donation the receptionist came up to speak with me about it. there was no issue about me or anyone carrying unless they were donating ... then it was a safety issue, they had said that "not even cops can carry while donating" as there "had been an incident where an officer passed out while donating and when he awoke with people around he went for his gun". we even spoke a little shop, and on the way out the receptionist said she was glad I was carrying, with the way everything is going.

It is useful to know of others positive experiences as well. If I know that people carry in Lowes all the time, I will do so with more confidence.

I've had no problems carrying at the Lowe's on North Durango and Farm nor at the Lowe's at Craig and Jones. But had the problem mentioned earlier at the Summerlin Lowe's where stock person Stuart was on the beat.

Winco revisited.

The wife, son and I went to Winco on Stephanie in Henderson yesterday afternoon. I walked right past, (within a couple feet) of the manager that kicked me out some time ago. No issues whatsoever. Guess she did get the word. I wanted to make sure she saw me and how much I was buying.

Yeah, I was just using Lowes as an example. Lowes is already known to have a laissez-faire policy. The point it, positive experiences are definitely as valuable as negative ones, if not more so.

To add to my husbands earlier post, when we were at Target a guy came up and said that he commended us for carrying. He was glad to see it. I love getting comments like that :)
