The Story
The Belmar shopping center is here in red on the map. They have festive, Christmas lights along every way. My girlfriend and I live a block away and decided to go for a walk and get some coffee. We parked at that red star there on the map. We were on the other side of the block when we were called out by three guys on the street. In description, these were typical metro-Denver thugs. One yelled out, "Hey is that your girl?" Her and I were born and raised in Detroit city- we learned to keep our mouths shut. We ignored it. He yelled again, "I want her when you are done with her!" I made eye contact and quickly looked away in the direction we were walking. A minute later, I glanced back to see them walking again in a different direction. Things get scary, here, as now we are walking down a road that is unoccupied. We were the only people. I immediatly felt tense. My adrenaline surged and peaked as I cased the street for danger. Our pistols were in the glovebox of my car! We left them in the car! Not even a stick to grab- no bricks- no garbage cans- we would be outnumbered and probably stabbed, if attacked. We made it to the edge of the road, turned the corner and found a police car parked, unoccupied. I felt only a tiny bit better. We made a straight line for the car, feeling almost dominated. Like we were then unwelcome.
Here's the deal- the Belmar is PACKED with people, shops, and food. There is an ice skating rink, although tiny, in the middle of this plaza. My girlfriend and I honestly didn't think our pistols would be welcome.
Anybody know if there would be any restrictions here? According to the map, these are actual roads and streets. Are we legally able to walk the sidewalks between these shops and such, along these streets and roads? I believe so, but need some opinions here for encouragement. Even another couple that wouldn't mind grabbing a coffee, strapped, of course. PM me for that.
