It is a FACT that the cop who shot Brown was unaware of his alleged involvement in the robbery of the convenience store. The police chief himself has clarified this. I could post a cite, but this has been reported by almost every news source I can find. This honestly makes no sense to me. I would think there would be radio chatter about a robbery in the area.

That being said, Brown didn't know that the cop didn't know...

I am laughing out loud at the people saying "...he was armed. His feet and hands are considered weapons."

I guess one can simply make up definitions on a whim to support opinion, eh?

I had a buddy back in Indiana I'd love to put Marshal and your ilk with for about 30 seconds.

Former NFL All Pro defensive tackle played for the Jets during Joe Namath's hay days, 6' 10" 375#. Ever see a man twist one end off a heavy duty Snap-On 4 way tire tool? Or pick up a Nautilus bench press machine (weights still on it) and carry it 10 feet? Or pick up the front end of a full size Ford Bronco so we could put jack stands under it because the hydraulic jack wasn't working and he wanted to change tires?

Believe me, a man like that could kill you in those 30 seconds with his bare hands. He came up behind me and in a friendly gesture put one hand on the top of each shoulder and squeezed a little just to say thanks for helping work on that Bronco. It was damned near enough to make me drop to my knees and beg for mercy.

Who says police can't shoot? Granted this guy was like Andre the giant but he was probably moving at some point. Even if officer missed 2 shots and landed 6... 2 out 4 were head shots and 2 out of four were center mass (chest and upper arm). Not bad... Especially getting his faced smashed in by the gentle giant.

On a serious note... If the guy had stopped after the first 4 shots then he wouldnt have needed the last two. That actually shows restraint. Meaning he didn't just go for the head first (ACCORDING TO PATHOLOGIST). He **** center mass and dude kept coming. Raised his group up slightly til the guy stopped.

Tueller drill anyone? Added twist... Have the biggest dude you know punch you in the face then do the drill. See your grouping...

Again no torso shots to vital organs! This officer has to be one of the biggest morons to put on a badge and uniform. I also wonder about those that have not got the intelligence to pick up on this CLEAR fact.

Lol you sound like one of those people that says "why didn't they just shoot him in the leg?"

Ever fire at a moving target?

YES! By witness accounts and the FACTS on the scene he chased the boy! There is no doubt that the first shot was fired from INSIDE the squad car, yet the boy was finished off THIRTY FIVE FEET from the first shot. It is pretty clear that they did not stroll hand in hand for thirty five feet, and that Mike was not chasing the officer after being shot.

A little common sense goes along way, too bad the police officer possessed none. At the very least this guy should be fired for being so incredibly STUPID!

Yes, yes yes: all the movies clearly show people immediately drop dead on the spot they're shot; that is unless the shot throws them 30 feet against a wall 6 feet up.

If the injuries to the cop were to the head then accurate use of a firearm is compromised. All the body diagram shows is that Brown was facing the cop when he was shot. If a man that big is approaching and you have been injured by that man then it could be more of a "get rounds down range and hope I stop this guy" type of mindset. I suspect that the statutes will be reviewed closely to determine if the cop had justification to shoot based on the statute(s) and circumstances. I remain unconvinced at this point that the cop had justification based on the distance from the body and the cop SUV.

Just cuz a thug beats you does not mean that the thug will beat anyone else in the immediate future. Call for back-up and use superior numbers to take the thug into custody, later, he won't be hard to pick out of a crowd. I'm surprised given the body photo that no other citizen was injured ot killed by the cop's gun fire.

BTW Primus if he was charging and did not stop for the first four shots IT WAS because he completely missed CENTER MASS. Good enough shot to hit the head but not center mass(vital organs). The moron was not trying to stop, he was going for the kill, IMO that makes it a execution.

Your claiming he was running at the SUV, yet got further away from the officer?

We will keep that in mind if you ever find yourself in the same position.

After being hit in the head by someone his size, let's see you fire accurately through the gush of tears that comes after a blow to the face or head. Me and you can go to the range. I'm 6'3" 235, not as big, but I've got 16 years of martial arts training so any punch to the head or face will count. After that, we will see if you can hit a stationary paper sillhouette target center of mass.

All the more reason to aim for center mass, and not the head!

Saying any person has not got the skills to hit center mass, but yet take numerous shots for the head(missing most) is lunacy. Seems some of you are claiming the head is a larger target and easier to hit than center mass vital organs.:uhoh:

And yet you still don't address the issue...you're full of it. You've obviously never been in a fight and it shows. You have no idea what physiological responses occur or what adrenaline combined with pain, blurred vision and dizzyness (assuming Brown got a clean shot to the face) will do to your ability to fight and aim.

When sparring, sometimes I get my bell rung good and hard and my usual pinpoint accuracy becomes a wild flail. I might even miss a round house from point blank range. Yet, you in all your expertise expect the cop to have sub MOA accuracy after losing a fist fight with a guy the size of Demarcus Ware.

I see what you did there...

its extremely likely that brown was hit in the extremities during his charge and fell forward while the officer was still firing and that the firing lasted about 3 seconds. I can empty my magazine in about 5, that's 15 shots. It's not unrealistic to say 10 could be dumped in 3.

I've watched many videos on YouTube of police shooting charging men and with the extremely rare exception, most empty the magazine in one continuous burst.

Good discussion but facts not clear

Interesting discussion here on this case, which is why I came to read it. Seems like the autopsy alone isn't going to make things clear though. The location of the shell casings seems like it will be good information. Really too bad there isn't any video from the dash or the officer. This case does make an extremely good argument for LEOs always having their cameras on when on duty.

Autopsy photos indicate he was NOT hit in the vital organs except for the head. NOT even once!

That's because he thought he was playing COD and did a knee slide as he was shooting. Or maybe he thought he was playing HALO and was jumping while he was shooting. Just before he went for his plasma sword.

Have you got anything other than idiocy to explain his ignoring his training in deadly force encounter?

As far as the shots to the arm they make sense combined with the shots to the head. By the one video witness put up, the officer missed several times, he was no marksman. {1}He should have been aiming center mass(by training) to stop a charging perpetrator, but instead he was so scared he went for a head shot. Again common sense does not weigh out here. NO center mass hits and hits to the head, plus biceps on arms, use some thinking skills. Most likely his arms were raised, and the officer was going for the certain kill shot/head shot. Sorry grape but IMO as I see it for now, unless PROVED otherwise, it looks like a execution.

BTW the witness never said who was coming at who, we already knew by facts the officer was coming at(chasing) Brown.

{2}How does a person with even minimal training MISS the center mass on someone the size of Big Mike, but manage to shoot the head, and arms.? see {1} And the arm hits clearly correspond with shots aimed for the head with arms raised.

{1}Ever watch any football?? When a defensive player is charging the ball carrier he runs upright with his hands in the air right?? OR is he bent at the waist, head lowered and arms out in front, which incidentally would put head and arms at "center mass". YOUR common sense weighs out equal to a dry dog ****.

{2} I rode on patrol with a sheriff's deputy buddy who was the chief firearms instructor and as he controlled the range qualified all state LEOs in the area as well. I use to assist on the range for qualifications, which was one of the most dangerous things I did with him. The most abysmal shooting and firearms handling I have ever seen were committed by LEO, I can perfectly believe an LEO could miss a B24 target at 15 yards with 6 rounds, I've seen it.

Well when dealing with idiots one must speak with idiocy for it to sink in....

He was hit 6 times. 4 FIRST center mass vertically and just to the left. One chest shot one upper arm one graze one lower arm. So his vertical was good but he shot to the left. Maybe because the friggin target was moving at him?

You shoot till threat is STOPPED. If after 4 shots the dude isn't stopped... Well time to aim higher.

Training... Aim center mass and only expend enough rounds to stop threat. As in drops weapon, stops rushing, etc. The autopsy showed FACIAL abrasions from him falling FORWARD. You dont hall forward with force if your STATIONARY... You fall FORWARD when moving forward. Something about newtons laws might go here....

So unless the dude got shot multiple times with his hands raised all innocent like THEN walked forward innocently to surrender... NO.

He was coming at officer. He got shot all way until stopped rushing..
