I did mine on NUWC Keyport, and since it's a DOD requirement the week was paid.

I was the only one able to negotiate the box, but that was mainly because I was riding an enduro (XT350 Yamaha).

I think I've seen that guy teaching, though it was back when it was at the mall. Steve is an awesome guy. He is one of the reasons I did so well. He didn't hold back on the criticism when I screwed up and it helped me correct my problems. At one point he actually said "Where do you want me to send the flowers?" after i took a turn a bit too fast and thought I was going to go down. Helped me dial in my speed.

As for the Skills test, though you'll probably be done with it by the time you read this, it isn't that bad. The box is probably the scariest part and is so minuscule in the grade that you can fail it completely and still do really well on the test. Just make sure not to start stopping before the line in the Quick Stop. That was my big fear since if
you start stopping early they will auto-fail that section.

Hopefully you do well and can be one more of the endorsed bikers out there. That is if you're not endorsed, if you're doing it to get the safety course completed for on base or for insurance, well, i will be glad that there's one more safe biker out there. =]

I totally slayed the tests. The written exam I only missed two questions. On the skill test I only got one point marked and that for putting my foot down during the u-turn. OCed the whole time. After all the class was done we had a couple people fail tests. One written, one skill and one kid failed both. As folks were filing out after getting our cert cards Dave asked me to stay and have a word with him. I was thinking, 'oh boy, here we go, gun talk time'. Nope, he offered me a job as an instructor. LOL He said he was disappointed in one of his current instructors and wanted to terminate them but needed someone to replace them. He said I had skill and only needed practice, was able to follow instructions and do the tasks. He really heaped on the compliments and it really made me feel good. I'm thinking of taking him up on it. I could make some decent money at it and instruct when and as often as I like. It would be a major boost to my income.

On to more OC stuff. So I took my cert to the DOL in Bremerton. First I stopped by the County building in Port Orchard thinking they did DL there but the lady at the info counter said to go to Bremerton (all the while staring at my 92F). So I went to the one in Bremerton near Fred Meyer. The guy at the info counter said "you can't have that in here" and I said, "this is a state agency and it's not prohibited by law." So he said "what if they tell you to take it out?" I said "then I'll tell them too bad because they can't prohibit it as this is a state agency." Then he asked "so a crazy guy comes in to shoot the place up will you get him before he gets me?" I smiled and said "sure". He was good with that then. LOL I was there about an hour, got my stuff filled out, paid and got my pic and temp license. No one else said a word.

Next in and out of Fred Meyer to take a leak and get a SoBe.

Fred Meyer Port Orchard

I spotted A rare grey haired unicorn today at Fred Meyer I was getting something for dinner and as I turned down the baking isle I spotted A black nylon holster hanging off some guy's belt and as I passed him I asked what are you carrying ? He replied "Its A 380 Smith and Wesson why" I told him I was just curious and that I also carry an S&W but mine is A .40 cal as I twisted slightly left so he could see it riding on my side. he then smiled and said something to the effect of have a good one. And wanderd off to parts unknown.

A day in Silverdale

On Monday the wife and I went looking for a new fridge and some shopping; while OC packing an XDM40. We started at Goodwill; bought a lot more than I expected; went through checkout three times. We then went to Nielson’s Appliance; Taco Time for lunch, then back to Nielson’s to discuss some more. Went to Sears to compare and finished up in Silverdale at Home Depot. The only comment I got was the worker at Home Depot asked what caliber I was carrying. We ended the day at Wal-Mart where I bought shot gun shells and the checker asked ‘what are you going to bring me back to eat’. I told her some clay pigeons, they don’t have much taste, but they’re nice and crunchy.

Was in the Kitsap County Sheriff's Office the other day to renew my dealer's license. I went on my motorcycle because it was a beautiful day. They have a new "secure" wall with door and the fingerprint machine is on the "secure" side of it. When it came time to run my prints I made sure to let the lady know I was carrying and would need to check my firearm since the machine was beyond the secure point. She said she didn't care if I came back with it and I replied that state law prohibited it. So she asked if I could secure it in my vehicle and I held up my helmet and said no, I'm on a bike. So she checked with her Sergent and he said it's no biggie since I'm only going just beyond the door. Then it was all smiles as they let me break the law. LOL

9.41.300 does seem to cover that area, but since the fingerprint machine is for the use of the public, I believe you are okay, I certainly did not offer to remove mine when I went in for fingerprinting for a background check earlier this year and nothing was said by anyone.

Restricted access areas do not include common areas of egress or ingress open to the general public (at the end of 9.41.300 1 a.)

I read that section to be areas fro holding prisoners or maybe the armory or other sensitive areas that would NOT be general public access.

It's actually any point past the secure check point. The Sheriff's office has the common area but the clerks are walled off with heavy lexan and there is a secure door that locks. The fingerprint machine is beyond the secure door putting it in the secure area of the police station. Port Orchard PD (who I had to go to right after) has their fingerprint stuff out in the lobby area outside the secure door.

You had permission to enter the ingress, therefore, you were not breaking the law...you were actually following the law.

That article is certainly slanted.

And obviously the private seller mentioned in the ATF report doesn't understand when it's time to stop talking.... he goes on says he has a bill of sale, ID, yadda yadda then can't produces it but says he'll "take the consequences" dude... SHUT YOUR MOUTH I'd talk to the ATF only after consulting an attorney.

Well,,,

He He He ,,, kinda funny..

I went to the Belfair QFC for "staples" today.
I wont bore you with the story about staying up all night and untill afternoon so I would be up, but not seem to eager.

So i drive to town, its 4 miles for those that care about stuff like that. I took my red car, cause thats the color of my car.
So I go in the store and try to grab a basket, but they are all stuck together and i have to waste my valuable
time prying them apart cause I only really need just the one, thank you! Why is this soooo hard?

Anyway I am waking around trying to remember why I am at the store, and why I have a basket??
Oh yeah,,,I know, Im shopping, for juice, and I remember I want some brocolli and colloflower too,
Oh yeah and some salad dressing. Did I mention that the moved the vegetables all around!
I swear, it literally took me MINUTES to find the stuff I wanted!
Then I still had to find the dressing, but that a whole nother topic, maybe Ill start another thread...

Anyhoooo I found some other things that I was out of, OK, a big jug each of Vodka and Tequilla,, like you need to know!
So now this basket is getting a bit heavy, so I decide Im done with this shopping thingy, besides, Im getting tired...

So I turn right to go to the checkout area. Funny, the checkout area always seems to be the right way to go.
Now Im walking to the front and, guess what? I have to turn right again and there they are, right where they were when I came in.
The checkout stands! I look at my basket, but cant count my items, but judging by its extream weightyness,
Im probably not 12 items or less, besides there is a backup in that line... So I walk on by...

Lo and behold but what do I see? All the manned, or girled checkout stands are also backed up!!!
Sooo Im standing there, holding this weighty basket with an unknown number of items trying to pick the very best line for me to stand in,,
when what to my wondering eyes does appear, than a smiling, young and pretty girl in a smock, bidding me, Come here...

She opened a brand new, never before used checkout station, just for me! I havent felt that special in years! Really,,, Years!!
So now she starts chatting me up, I can tell she is really into me, but she acts like shes just giving good customer service, but
Ive been around long enough to know the difference between a girl younger than my daughter thats got the hots for me
and a worker thats just trying to be pleasant and respectfull of a dirty old man that had to go to the store cause he ran out of booze.

So now with my breath propperly baited I wait for the sexy and suggestive small talk to carress the empty vacuum that is my soul.
Soo she slyly asks her first question, and its loaded with innuendo, or was it double entrandra, I cant tell,
Im not asking and it dont really matter to me anyways, I just breath it in, through my ears, and it smells good.

She says,,, "paper or plastic?" just like that, like it meant nothing. I bet she says that to all the boys...
So I play along and say, "plastic would be fine". I dont want to sound too eager!

Now she seems to be getting serious, but she doesnt allow herself to look outwardy flustered by my cool demeaner.
So she asks,, "How is your day going so far?" This could mean anything! What does want from me?
Love? money? A long term commitment? I cant tell. Im out of practice.
Ive got to appear cool, calm, collected,,, styling, Yeah, styling!
So I says back to her, in my suave voice, like I do this all the time. Like I know whats what. Like a man of the world.

I am going to be that man of the world, I know whats what. I am cool, calm, collected,,, styling!
I say, "its going better than I had expected,,, I havent been arrested,,, or assaulted"...
Nailed it!!!

I knew I had played her just right, this was going just as I had planned it, she was now putty in my quivering sweaty hands,,, Oh Joy!!!
But she is also cool, calm, collected. She has played this game before,,, OK maybe she has played this game a lot...
In a sexy voice, dripping with innuendo, or was it double entranda,,, I dont know,, remember, we already covered this,,, let it go...
Sooo what she said was,,, "There is still time"....

I bowed my head in shame as I slinked away from her checkout. I could hear her in the distance,,,
her sexy vioce dripping with innuendo, or was it double entranda,,, remember,,, I cant tell,,,
"paper or plastic?"
I bet she says that to all the boys...

I was a little edgy on my way to the car with my goodies. kept watching my six, remembering all the while, she said "there was still time"...

I couldnt find my car where I thought I had left it, but I remembered it was red, so I started looking at just the red cars,
then I found one... I still wonder if somebody moved it just to mess with my head. It was confusing.
I checked, and the key I had seemed to work OK in the locks, so I loaded up my stuff and drove home in it.
I guess that it will all work out in the end...

The End
