Came across another oc'er at the Walmart on Princess Anne and Lynnhaven on Saturday. We thanked each other for exercising our rights and went on our way.....

I know it has been said before because I have read it here in some these posts, but what the heck is a unicorn?

Just for you:

Hee he, ha ha, LOL :p

Seeing another OCer unknown to you, out in public has been described as seeing a unicorn - a newly discovered living creature :)

I'm ashamed to say I had to disarm yesterday to go into Victim City Furniture. Would not normally have done so, but when the wife desires a new couch, and there's one in there she wants to look at, there's no convincing her otherwise. She got a good laugh from my nickname for the place, though. Thankfully the one we've decided on is in Ashley Furniture, and they seemed to be a little more freedom loving. Sadly, I didn't carry there either since it was in the same lot and we just walked there. But even if I had, I wouldn't have gotten to sit on many of the couches in there since my rig at the time forced me to carry at the 4 o'clock position and I wouldn't want to mess up any leather or anything.

Then, carried in walmart on a busy sunday afternoon, not a single comment or side glance. Overall a positive experience this weekend, but I've put my last boot print in Value City, ever.

Tell her next time she wants something to furnish the house, to go look at them in the thrift store. Mine came from outside on a curb in Portsmouth. Literally. When I asked if it was for trash, he told me for $5 it was mine. I gave him an Abe.

One man's trash is another man's treasure.

That's worth a shot, people toss some of the weirdest things sometimes.

On another note, I got my VCDL magnets for my truck in the mail today. It included a hand written note on the invoice from Bruce J, as long as a few bonus stickers and an Otis Tech Bore Reflector. I'm sure that's not an uncommon thing for them to do, but I still really appreciated it. Not sure if he frequents this forum, but if he does, thanks, Bruce!

Don't think Bruce frequents this forum. Might send him a note of thanks to his VCDL address:

Yup I'm going to do that as well, not often someone takes the time to hand write a note like that these days. It's usually all emails, printer paper and credit card numbers. Too few give it that bit of a personal, and human, touch.

New unsubstantiated rumor.

Talked to an off duty cop the other day at Landing Zone in Virginia Beach. He said that Norfolk is now leasing town point park as a venue for events like Harborfest. This then allows the event to restrict access to victims (my word, not his) only.

Any one hear this elsewhere and does the logic hold?

Entities that lease city (or county) owned facilities have the right to control the behavior of their patrons for the duration of the lease, which means that the lessee may opt to restrict firearms, inspect bags, purses, sell alcohol (with proper license), offer entertainment, charge admission, etc..

Former Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli opined that while the municipality owner does not have the right to restrict firearms carry, a lessee does. However, such a municipality may not perpetually lease the property to an entity for the purpose of evading the state preemption of firearms.

Some municipalities have retained marketing firms to find and engage tenants for their venues, but have interpreted Cuccinelli's memo to mean that their leasing agent can restrict firearms carry. The city of Hampton does so with respect to the Hampton Convention Center. I have this from their City Attorney. Note: They do make an exception for gun shows. VCDL is aware of this issue.

Welcome to OCDO and to the Commonwealth. Help keep Virginia green - be sure to bring money.

Texas is struggling to get OC legalized. Even when you do, it's doubtful you will be able to do it without some sort of permission slip. Not trying to be harsh, but leading up to -

OC is the default condition in Virginia. Why not experience it while you can? Pure freedom. 'Murica! All that stuff. (Yes, there might be times when discretion is the better part of family relationships. Should those come up, as already noted, your Texas permission slip will work here too.) We don't have no steenkin' 30-06 signs here. Also, we don't have any bars (it's a technicality thing).

Let us know when and where you will be - it might be possible to set up a meet & greet.

stay safe.

Still alive down here in Suffolk Virginia. Nothing new to report other than the norm. Sorry for my absence. Been an interesting year in the family. Hope all is well with everyone here.

Good that you're back. Much as I would like to get out to the more regular Richmond meets, the travel is a little rough. Us Hampton Roads folks should organize something. My wife and I don't venture out to eat enough to know many restaurants other than the big chains, but sometimes those are good. Matter of fact, as I've said before, it seems we have one of the few (if not the only) Buffalo Wild Wings that allows OC right here in Chesapeake. Denny's near my house has always been receptive of me, as well.
