Ok I usually don't post my everyday OC adventures but today was a good one. Was out and about and was called and reminded that we needed food for dinner. So I went to the Hidenwood Foodlion. Went inside did my shopping checked out came out side to find a note on my truck. The note said that only cowards and guys with small male units open carry guns. This almost made my day i just wish they weren't cowards to leave me a note.

It would be nice to know who left the note. The fact that they used "correct" terminology (open carry) makes me think they are somewhat familiar with guns. I wonder if it was a staunch CC-only person?

Still it could just be the run of the mill hoplophobe that has learned a bit about what they are afraid of. Or they could have complained about someone OC-ing to be told OC was legal and there was nothing they could do about it. (well almost nothing, they could leave a nasty note... ;-)

they didnt the correct terminology they used "openly carry"

And I do shop there often but all my friends are working. I'm leaning towards it being a business man that was parked next to me.

Have been meaning to mention these two places for awhile - both restaurants - but each time I get home with the food it gets forgotten. So this is to say that I visit each of these places at least once a week and the managers seem to have no problem with OC and in fact seem to go out of their way to be especially nice and make me feel welcome:
- Chen's Wok in Bayside Shopping off of Shore Drive
- Sunrise Pizzeria in Aragona Plaza on Virginia Beach Blvd. -- after coming in a few times the manager asked me if I was LEO or military (I'm not) but turns out it was just to find out if he could give me a discount based on that, and when I answered no he then made a point of saying that I was welcome and he always brings my order out himself.he

How are the Va. Beach PD in regards to OC? I will most likely be spending a few days of our Williamsburg trip, at the beach.

Never had a problem OCing at the beach...I am a former Williamsburg Deputy Sheriff BTW...have fun in our beautiful little town!

ODA 226 is alive! The question is whether you are in town or deployed. If I schedule an OC dinner then you must deployed. If I don't you must be in town.

OC-ed to the Tabb library today donating some childrens books my kids don't need anymore, no problems and even got a "Thank you!" from the person collecting them.

OC-ed to Katera Tekawitha thrift shop to donate some stuff no issues, then onto Food Lion no issues, and finally to Exxon to donate to the kids education fund... no issues.

Been concealing the new Judge everywhere, if you can call it concealed. Can't wait for a serpa for the polymer public defender. Found out it kicks more than my 1911 with 230gr. +p.

Just more of the usual places 7/11 in Suffolk, food lion, total wines on greenbrier, and around the neighborhood (Whitehurst in Kempsville) while walking the dog. I have noticed that most people seem to notice the chihuahua and not the glock.

Anyone know the specifics regarding Fort Monroe? It is being handed over to a civilian company on Sep 15th. As i understand it, it will no longer be a federal facility/property. It will soon become the property of the commonwealth.

I've asked what the status of the base will be regarding federal vs. state land, but i am not getting solid answers. I live on Fort Monroe, and i am wondering if i will be able to open carry on Sep 15th.

in all the usual places

Food Lion, Advance Auto, Ulta, Starbucks, Kohl's, 7-11, SunTrust, city dump, Exxon, Home Depot, in and around the house and the Walgreens.

While in the Walgreen store I thought I had a unicorn sighting but it turns out that it was a NPN police officer. She was wearing dark blue dress slacks and a slightly lighter blue polo style shirt. When I saw the embroidered badge on her shirt I figured out that she was a cop. I don't think she ever even noticed me.

While I was open carrying in Rips the new guy behind the counter asked if I was a cop. I told him I wasn't and we had a good chat about open carry. He was under the impression that open carry was illegal in VA. He was quite happy to find out that such is not the case. A few of the other customers got involved in the conversation. I told them about opencarry.org and the VCDL.

Nice job! It is extremely important to be able to inform people, allay fears and let people see that you are just a regular guy who takes his self defense more seriously than most others. I'm sure every one in that encounter learned something and became at least a bit more accepting of our attitudes and behavior. If it were possible to replicate something like this 100 times every day all across the Commonwealth, antis like Moran and "Dick" whats-his-name would find themselves marginalized by their own stupidity and getting less and less traction with the public.

Keep up the good work. We're winning this!!

Bayport Credit Union (no signs posted or anything. never had anything but smiles. I make sure i keep my hands up on the counter as i conduct business to keep them at ease if i sense an unsettling)

haha, thats funny :D

I OC into the Yorktown SunTrust regularly and always get nothing but smiles and a welcome by name. Its nice to know your bankers personally. They've never given the Kimber a second glance.

OC-ed to Farm Fresh and Walmart today no issues.

Walmart had some veterans organization for homeless vets collecting money. I stopped by and donated a bit and my OC was never mentioned.

I'm trying to decide where I am going to OC for dinner. :) I have my daughters friend sleeping over so I will have to get some consensus of where to eat.

ETA: OC-ed to Dino's Pizza for dinner then to OfficeMax for school supplies & tax free weekend. Had a couple people be overly polite, no issues.

ABC store next to Food Lion in Yorktown.
I had a nice ~5 minute conversation with a female employee (neither of the 2 ladies that have been there forever) who struck up a conversation about my gun. She also occasionally OCs. :D
Seems she's had trouble with the NN police being asses after they find out she has a CHP.

OC-ed to BD's Mongolian BBQ for dinner no issues. I was wearing Ed's (Yes its real, loaded and legal) shirt which is probably why I got no questions about OC-ing. :) The shirt answers most of the normal questions right away.

Hampton Town Center was busy and I had to park out in the boonies!

Also OC-ed cutting the front and back yard today. :)
