Chapter 11, eh?

Starbucks' recent position far outweighs that setback, and helps establish a precedent that OC is legal and acceptable, even if controversial.
Wait and see, that's going to be the example that more and more companies follow. Starbucks is posting record earnings. Who else can say that?
What model would you want your company to emulate? Would you want to be successful like Starbucks, or successful like Peet's and Fuddruckers?
Hey, no burger is worth that! Look on the bright side, they're going bankrupt!I recently posted the following in another thread:
The moderator asked that additional discussion of this topic appear in a new thread, so here it is.Long time reader but I registered today to post this:
My son and OC'd at Fuddrucker's on Duke Street in Alexandria last night. We had done so several times before so we both were stunned when the manager came up to us (at our table, after we had ordered and paid but before we were served) and asked if we were police officers. When he informed us that company policy only allowed police officers to carry in the restaurant, I asked for our money back. As he was getting our money, my son and I discussed the possibility that we had been transported to an alternative universe. The manager returned with our money and stated again that it was company policy. I told him that we were leaving and would not be back but that I did not believe that the company had a policy forbidding OCing by non-police as I had OC'd in this very store many times and that I had never had a problem doing so at any other Fuddrucker's in the area. He turned and walked away without a word and we left.
We ended up eating at Lone Star down Duke Street where we Oc'd without incident.
I just received the following response from Fuddruckers corporate headquarters regarding their policy with respect to carrying in their stores:
Iomitted the name of the writer for privacy reasons, but the meesage is unambiguous---no weapons in Fuddruckers. Please accept my apologies for the delayed response.
Open carry laws are changing in various states. Therefore, restaurants are more clearly communicating their policies to guests. Fuddruckers has had a ‘No Weapons’ policy for several years but it wasn’t being enforced in all locations. By enforcing its no-weapons policy, Fuddruckers is enforcing its rights as a private business to create the sort of dining environment we believe best suits and appeals to all or the majority of our guests.
If you’d like to further discuss this matter, please feel free to contact Mary Hamill, Vice President of HR, at the number below.
On behalf of Fuddruckers, Inc., we want express our sincerest appreciation for your patronage. We are truly sorry if our policy has forced you or your family to find an alternate dining facility.

I had no ideathat Fuddruckers has ano weapons policy. I have OCd in many of their stores without incident. I wonder if all stores will be enforcing this rule?
I'm going to miss their burgers!
Actually, it reminds me more of Abby Spangler...if I had to choose a human likeness that is.Tomahawk wrote:

I would have to seriously disagree. Fast food vendors can be some of the worst.I've been on the Health Department site before, it will make you want to never eat out.
Funny thing, fast food restaurants are usually the cleanest, since they don't really prep food and they clean several times a day.
Freezer to grill to customer...not much to go wrong.

I hear ya, but if you look at health dept reports for your local fast food restaurants and then at the independent places, you may change your mind.Glock27Bill wrote:I would have to seriously disagree. Wikipedia is more believable!
If they can confirm through corporate the policy of the franchise locations then surely they can understand that corporate still receives... oh screw it, been over it already. But some gun-toters who didn’t want to give up Fuddruckers figured out a way to have their fries and their pistols too—they confirmed with the corporate office that its no-weapons policy doesn’t apply to the 135-franchisee owned Fuddruckers around the country. The franchisees are free to set their own policies.
Not only that, it was linked in that Wall Street Journal blog a couple posts back, so it's getting a lot of new eyes.I can't believe this thread still lives.
So can I post my resume?Glock27Bill wrote:Not only that, it was linked in that Wall Street Journal blog a couple posts back, so it's getting a lot of new eyes.I can't believe this thread still lives.
