(Snip) Late Tuesday, Parker sent this message to Sen. William M. Stanley Jr. (R-Franklin), via Facebook: “I’m going to be your worst nightmare you little bastard.”

“I take this very seriously as a threat against the safety of my family,” said Stanley, who enjoys an A rating from the National Rifle Association. He said he contacted Capitol Police and the Franklin County Sheriff’s Department, and picked up applications for concealed handgun permits for himself and his wife because of the message. (End Snip)

Ah, nothing like self control and discipline wielded by those who'd have us disarmed.

Virginia anti-gun celebrity Andy Parker threatens state Senator he calls 'bastard'

SNIP

RICHMOND — State Sen. Bill Stanley on Wednesday told police that he had been threatened by Andy Parker, the father of the Roanoke reporter fatally shot on live TV in August.

Parker has become the public face of gun control in Virginia in the aftermath of his daughter’s slaying, appearing with Gov. Terry McAuliffe, campaigning for legislative candidates who favor gun control, and starring in TV commercials that are part of a $2.2 million ad buy bankrolled by former New York mayor Michael Bloomberg’s gun safety group.

Late Tuesday, Parker sent this message to Stanley, R-Franklin County, via Facebook: “I’m going to be your worst nightmare you little bastard.”

“I take this very seriously as a threat against the safety of my family,” said Stanley, who contacted Capitol Police and the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office. He said he also picked up applications for concealed handgun permits for himself and his wife.

“We are proud firearms owners, but I never felt the need for a concealed carry permit until now,” he said.

Parker confirmed that he sent the message, but said the only intended threat was political.

Another unsolicited testimony/demonstration that it is the antis who cannot control themselves.

Gun-haters have no limits. No boundaries. No rules. No moral foundation.

The are so deluded into thinking that their goal is "good," that no amount of evil is off limits for them to accomplish it.

They fall squarely into the sights of this most insightful quote by renowned author C.S. Lewis:

"Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience. This very kindness stings with intolerable insult. To be "cured" against one's will and cured of states which we may not regard as disease is to be put on a level of those who have not yet reached the age of reason or those who never will; to be classed with infants, imbeciles, and domestic animals." -- C. S. Lewis

May God save us from these most dangerous of all "do-gooders!"

Thanks.

Since Mr. Parker is anti-gun he will not be overly concerned with the loss of his gun rights if he is ever prosecuted and then convicted of a Class 6 felony.

Hmmm, this is the guy that said he will probably have to get a gun for self protection.

http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2015/aug/29/alison-parkers-father-probably-going-have-get-gun-/

Now he's threatening people. He may also be armed, or have the intention to become armed. That doesn't sound like a good combination.

It would be funny if he was charged with a felony. Then if he went to get a gun, legally, he would be told during the background check that he was pending trial on a felony and would be refused.

Exactly the way that background check laws work currently.

Obviously the system works and doesn't need more laws to make it work "better".

Note: there may be elevated levels of sarcasm in this posting.

Anger issues...mental instability? Who could blame him for being off his rocker...not sounding like he should be permitted to possess a gun until the state deems him not a threat to society...via his own words.

Dear Senator Stanley,

A couple points in reference to your recent need for a Concealed Handgun Permit:

1. Open Carry of a firearm is perfectly legal RIGHT NOW instead of waiting up to 45 days for a permit to be issued, although as a Senator, I'm sure you can have that application fast tracked, since you need the permit RIGHT NOW.

2. Constitutional Carry is growing in popularity. Currently, five states allow a law abiding citizen to conceal a firearm RIGHT NOW without a permit.

Ordinary citizens here in Virginia do not have the option of fast tracking a permit or concealed carry without a permit when they need to do so RIGHT NOW. Event the modest $50 fee to apply for a permit, and the 45 day wait, are significant impediments to folks who are tight on funds or not comfortable with Open Carry.

Now that you have 'seen the light,' are you going to work toward changing the law in Virginia?

Attaboy! Good questions.

(To me, the comment does not seem a threat at all, but if I were in Stanley's shoes and Parker so much as brushed against me in the hallway, I'd make a case of it.)

Here is Parker's 'True Threat'

Many of you are quoting from the WaPo or the RT. The really eye-opening report is from WSLS; see here:

Sen. Stanley provided a screenshot of the message from Parker, which reads:

I’m going to be your worst nightmare you little bastard.

“I think anyone that would receive such a message would act accordingly in protecting their family,” said Stanley. “What would you do if you received a threat that said I’m going to be your worst nightmare? You would take the necessary steps to protect your family and certainly I’ve done this here.”

According to the Post, Parker admitted to sending the message, but said it was a political threat, not a physical one.

However, another post surfaced Thursday that shows Parker posted more messages to Virginia Senator Stanley’s page:

“Your finest moment, you sorry little coward. You didn’t even have the decency to reach out and offer a lame condolence after my daughter Alison Bailey was murdered in your district. When you see me again, you best walk the other way lest I beat your little ass with my bare hands.

"I beat your little ass with my bare hands" -- look, for public officials, people have arrested for less than that kind of threat.

Parker's anger against various people is getting seriously out of control. Anger management is needed here.

I was just about to post that myself Repeater. Thank you. I saw it linked from WDBJ7's Facebook page in a series of comments on this general story.

What is amazing is that our own governor, Terry McAuliffe intentionally stood in public with this angry, threatening man while he smeared the gun owners of Virginia and claimed that it was for the safety of the public that the common gun owner should not be able to carry a firearm for self defense in state agency offices. It should be readily apparent, that his concern is not for the safety of the public or state employees, but for violent and threatening men like his friend Andy Parker lest someone be able to defend themselves against he and his when he finally carries through with his threats.

And here is the point:

According to the FBI's annual crime statistics, which are fairly consistent year after year:

MORE people die from BEATINGS with hands or feet, than die from RIFLES of ALL KINDS, including those awful scary "assault rifles."

Given this fact, it's very difficult to deny that this was a very real threat. Imagine if someone had made a reference to using a RIFLE to attack either Mr. Parker, or the Governor. Even though one may be statistically less likely to die from a rifle than from a beating, but you can bet your bottom dollar arrests and prosecution would have followed.

Consider this: what Stanley can do now is go to his local magistrate and request -- and likely receive -- an Order of Protection against Parker because he placed Stanley in reasonable apprehension for his safety.

This, among other things, would mean that Parker couldn't go anywhere near Senator Stanley. Assuming Stanley is reelected, this would also mean that Parker couldn't go anywhere near the GAB.

That would cripple his intended lobbying plans. Andy may even have to surrender his little BB gun. Too bad.

I take this threat seriously. Soo too, apparently, does Philip Van Cleave:

Gun-controller Andy Parker threatens pro-gun state Senator Bill Stanley! Told to “man up” by governor with security squad
So Andy Parker, the anti-gun politician whose daughter was horrendously murdered on camera by journalist Vester Lee Flanagan, sends a threatening message to pro-gun Senator Bill Stanley, “I’m going to be your worst nightmare you little bastard!” Don’t forget that just after his daughter was murdered, Andy Parker made a distinct point of saying he was going to purchase his first handgun.

Parker also says to Stanley on Facebook in screaming upper-case text (I’ll spare you that), “You’re finest moment, you sorry little coward. You didn’t even have the decency to reach out and offer a lame condolence after my daughter Allison Bailey was murdered in your district. When you see me again, you best walk the other way lest I beat your little ass with my bare hands.”

Certainly Senator Stanley has a right to be concerned by such messages. The second message is an explicit threat as I see it.

No matter how frustrated elected officials have made me over the years, I have never even considered sending such a threatening message to any one of them.

But, as I say frequently, the other side tends to have some serious anger-management problems and it looks like Mr. Parker is no exception to the rule. While he has been through a terrible, terrible tragedy, that doesn’t justify the threats.

Not to be left out of the conversation, our hypocrite-in-charge, Governor McAuliffe tells Stanley to “man up.” This from a man who is surrounded 24/7 by a multi-person security team everywhere he goes, including into gun-free DC!

Yes, that's right: McAwful has decided to get his sorry ass involved in this debacle:

'Man up,' McAuliffe says to state senator who reported threat from slain journalist's father
Parker apologized Thursday in a statement issued through Everytown for Gun Safety, the gun-control advocacy group he was worked with to produce television ads in several key Virginia Senate races.

"In my grief over the murder of my daughter and my anger over a political system that allows incidents like that to continue, I spoke regrettably," Parker said. "I apologize for my words, but make no mistake, I will continue to seek justice and change as a father in memory of my daughter."

Stanley said he discovered the second comment Wednesday night after hearing that Parker said the "worst nightmare" message was not intended as a physical threat. Stanley said someone attempted to erase the second comment, which no longer appears on Stanley's public page. Stanley shared a screen capture of the post with the Richmond Times-Dispatch.

During the radio show, McAuliffe was asked to weigh in on the dust-up before the second comment became publicly known.

Stanley called the governor's "man up" comment "appalling and quite stunning."

"He needs to be helping the healing, not agitating the situation with such flippant comments," Stanley said.

Stanley said McAuliffe and his allies are using Parker, who lives in Henry County, as a "pawn" in the push for gun control.

"I think they should have been a little more careful in the selection of their spokesman and should have been a little more mindful of the emotions that Mr. Parker is going through during a grieving process for a horrible tragedy that occurred to him," Stanley said.

Gee, you think?

Apologizing for having "spoke[n] regrettably" is pretty much saying you are sorry you got caught.

Parker has said nothing to indicate that he has withdrawn the threat of battery (he's already committed assault by making the threat, and cannot take that back - ever!).

Parker has put in writing that his anger is associated with his grieving over the death of his daughter, and suggests that his comments and behavior are related to that grieving. Or, as we say, he appears to present a danger to himself or others by reason of inability to control his anger. Since he is calling for more action to respond to those with mental illnesses before they cause injury/death I'd suggest that Mr. Parker is perhaps a textbook case of the person who ought to be involuntarily detained to determine if they do in fact present a danger to self or others by reason of mental disability or infirmity. (Something about getting what you wished for seems to floating around there.)

I would love to be a fly on the wall as some psychiatrist asked two of his compatriots for a consult about Mr. Parker (doubt anybody is going to make a call either way on their own) and they start talking about which one of hem is going to sign off saying that in their professional opinion - knowing their livelihood and all their possessions are on the line if they goof - he presents no credible risk.

Perhaps some good citizen ought to take a road trip and visit the magistrate out where Andy lives.

stay safe.
