What is it about the internet that makes people so terrible at spelling? It also causes extreme errors in grammar.

Warren is a name.

A warranty is a warranty. This forum even has spell check, at least it does for me. You get a big red line under the word that tells you that you've failed. It's just sad to see so many grown people who cannot write in their own language. Granted one mistake is no big deal, everyone does that. But the problem is that I don't believe most things I see like that are a typo, I think the people actually believe that the way they spell something is the way you're supposed to spell a particular word.

Come on dude, what's up with the lack of capitalization, insane spacing and hitting enter seemingly at random? All of these things make the simplest statements WAY more difficult to read than they should be.

OK, that was way off topic. In response, the internet didn't necessarily make this happen. The whole idiotic educational system, and the requirement to teach a child to "pass the SOL test", made this happen. There is also the culture that, with the popularity of text messaging, punctuation and grammar have been replaced by "shortcuts".

Run on sentences are also an issue. People end up using commas where they should have used a period. But we won't get into that one.

Yeah, I was being sarcastic when I "blamed" the internet. I was simply saying that it's amazing that as soon as someone gets online they throw out everything they know. That or they claim it "doesn't matter" or that you "know what they meant." Of course, as you said, some people actually don't know.

Back in the dark ages I bought an Ivar Johnson .380 as a pocket pistol. That was the worst put together weapon I ever had the misfortune to buy. The fit and finish were worse than that of a cap pistol. The accuracy was...well, WHAT accuracy? I couldn't get two rounds in a row to go in the same direction and I qualified as an expert pistol shot while in the Navy.

Bryco Jennings 9mm. FTF, FTE, FAILURE TO FIRE, Downrange A/D(for some reason this thing went rock 'n roll!). After cleaning, more issues. Sold it to a guy I didn't like. Told him about the problems, he said he didn't care. :banghead:  Oh well. Nothing in the papers about him.

Also had a Hi-Point 9mm that wouldn't feed hollowpoint rounds of any kind. Turns out this is a design flaw of the feed ramp. It just doesn't like HP's because of the lip at the bottom of the ramp. A dremel and some emery cloth would probably fix this issue, but I believe firearms should work properly the first time, without more after-machining machining.

Pfft, forget that. I LOVE tweaking and tuning things.

My Jeep, my 1911, my (home-built)computer.... If there's an aftermarket part, or an upgrade, or a tweak, you KNOW I'll be happy to make it. :D

'ell, one afternoon, I just sat down and did a feedramp buff on all my guns, then my range buddy's guns. Just broke out the Dremel and went to work.

That reminds me, I need to look into getting some parts for my Cherokee. Oh, and that new trigger for the 1911....

I'm all for tweaking, just not machining so that a weapon functions PROPERLY! If I have to make it function properly, it's not a good weapon. Tweaking is fun. I did pull out the dremel and emery cloth to polish up the feed ramps on just about everything when I first got them, then proceeded into port experimenting on a shotgun. That was a trip. Function-wise, I would never BUY one of these again.

Eh, it's not a good weapon, until you tinker with it.

Some people like tinkering, like me. Heck, if I could I would make my own gun.

But it's illegal.

My one real disappointment -
I bought a Calico 9mm carbine "for my wife" so that she would have a HD weapon and not have to worry about reloading with the 50 and 100-round helical magazines. It kept having FTF's after doubling, even after running 300 rounds through it for break-in.

One that I Thought was going to be 'iffy' -
An Ishapore 2A1 in 7.62x51 that the importer had cut down into a psuedo 'jungle gun'. I changed out the wooden club of a stock for an ATI synthetic, removed the flash hider and associated sights, and then had an XS Sight systems scout scope mount attached. I was certain that with the synthetic stock and the lack of any recoil pad at all that it wasn't going to be pleasant to shoot.

The week previously I had 'function tested' my new Mossberg 930 SPX and since the store I purchased my ammo from didn't carry any buckshot or slugs, I went with the heaviest 3-inch shells they had, hoping to make up for the difference in weight. The 3-inchers were a wake up . I can run through a tube of 2.75 buckshot without a thought but the 3-inchers had me set up for each round after I had touched off the first two. So, you can imagine my trepidation as I tucked in behind the lighter, non-recoil padded rifle, and prepared to bang myself up. Surprisingly, it kicked less, which I wasn't expecting. As a matter of fact to me, it seemed to kick a Lot less:cool:, it even kicked less than my recoil pad equipped FR-8. I went through several 10-round magazines in rapid succession before tiring of the hot weather. I need to get the foreend bedded a bit (it had been Dremel(r)-ed out a bit roughly, but I think it'll turn into a nice truck gun shortly....when the flash hider and bayonet are on;).

The worst was a Jimenez JA22 that I got for $20 from a coworker-- have done all I could with it and it refuses to shoot 2 rounds in a row without stovepiping(? FTE)-- I do have another of the same that I bought new for $100, and it and a freebie Jennings J22 both shoot well, but just keep Stingers or some other high velocity rounds in it--I have since retired the one JA22 as a parts gun---

Can't complain, $20 was a "I get what I pay for" purchase anyway--

I do love SNSes BTW!!

reliability, fun to shoot, real fun to OUTSHOOT Glocks/Sigs/HKs/etc with (all of which I love BTW), and a kick *ss warranty..

I own a CF380 (second one, my first was stolen), and a 995 carbine-- I owned a C9-- I paid $125 for it and sold it 3 weeks later for $150..a choice I regret to this day.

HPs are the working man's guns-- and I bought my first one when I needed a truck gun. I spent all my money I saved on my XD45, and could not afford a high priced pistol, but needed a good gun to carry in my work truck-- I fell in love at first shot...:)

I've never owned or fired Hi-Point pistols, so I can't say anything about them one way or the other.

But I do love my Glock 23... and my Ruger P89... and my Norinco Model 213...
