As I'm checking out, the cashier says 'Oh, you're the guy that's been giving the ladies a scare', laughingly....

Before I can say anything, he says 'Yeah, some of the ladies up front were scared, they've seen you come here with your gun on a few times, but it's an open carry state, and personally, I think it's better that way, it's a deterrent'.....

I might go on a mission of mercy and go to the management and drop off some flyers or something, just so that they understand it's not just a 'following company policy' kind of deal, but understand the rationale behind it, Ie. most gun owners are responsible people, and the gun isn't bad.

I didn't have any work scheduled yesterday at the shop so I took the day off and went a bunch of places.

HomeDepot lakewood/tacoma. Ran into a customer of mine that has seen me at the shop carry maybe 15 times atleast. Saw me came toward me and talked for a few minutes. He was on my strong side. Then he said "you mad at someone?" I said no why do you ask? He pointed down at the gun and as he did he actually said I feel more comfortable over here and moved his cart around to the weekside of my cart. I said "You've seen me carry a gun everytime you have been at the shop." He said he just must not ever pay that close attention. Hard to miss a guy open carrying with a serpa. Super strange, he is a soft spoken redneck kind of guy. Just goes to show how oblivious people really are going through life.

Stopped at a few pawn shops to check thigs out. all of the ones over by ponders were ok. They never seem to have anything though. Then I went down south tacoma and stopped at a place called Pawn Exchange. I was out in the parking lot talking to a guy in a very nice mercedes. We talked for a few minutes, super nice guy. He held the door open for me, as he did I noticed a no firearms sign. I halted and didn't step in. He said whats wrong? I said I guess I can't go in here, no firearms aloud. He paused for a second, but didn't say anything then went inside as I was turning around. As I got back in my car I noticed he had went behind the counter. Wonder if it was the owner or management.

Tacoma Boys.. 6th ave. Not a thing said looked around in there for half hour. The staff is a always super nice.

Dropped off a application for a job. Walked in and handed the lady my application. She asked if I had a few minutes. I said sure. She called the Hunting Manager and said that someone was here for the job.

I didn't expect to actually do a job interview but none the less, it was going to happen. I have only been to one other interview while I was carrying, but I was CCing. I was OCing yesterday. I asked the lady if they had any issues with me OCing on the interview. She and one other employee said nope, and as a matter of fact, they do not have any issues with anyone carrying. Well I knew they didn't have any issues with people carrying, just wasn't sure about Open Carry while being interviewed.

The Hunting Manager came up and we went back to the office and conducted the interview. Everything went well and just maybe I will get a call on Monday starting work at the Sportsmans Warehouse.

While at the Twin Lakes Fred Meyer....

after picking up a couple of things on Saturday that I needed....

I was walking across the parking lot, climbed into the Jeep and was about to buckle up and back out...

When I say this mid 30s guy approach and wave, I rolled down the window. He didn't ask the 'question' (what department are you with)

Rather, he said he just hasn't seen it and was curious as to anyone's reaction including LEO. We chatted a bit about my experiences and a little about Workman's book.

Nice to have a positive and curious encounter.

Also stopped by the new location for Federal Way Discount guns, shop is a little bit larger, but not much. The range has 12 lanes but they are no more than about 45 feet long. Nice set up for pistols though. Range prices are a bit much, Champion beats their prices easily.

Was in the boat on Mayfield lake oc with no problems.

Oc today around town, then decided to check out County Like Guns, unloaded per store policy ( 2 large signs on the inner entry way doors) had a look around for a while. Good price on small pistol primers but there dies were a bit expensive. A very nice gal behind the counter asked if I needed help with anything, so we looked at holsters and I tried several. Settled on an inexpensive IWB clip style leather holster.

Very nice and helpful staff out there, if you've never been there stop by, its worth a look.

After that we went to the Tacoma mall CC and made a B-line straight for the food court, ate and then wandered around. Kind of a nice feeling knowing that people do not know your carrying.

Place was pretty busy (about 15 customers) but they still had great customer service! as well looked like decent prices on 1911's...

County line is a great shop for sure (and I finally noticed the 3' square sign I 'missed', thought it was just the under 18 accompanied deal), it pays to read... I will be unloading next time I go in to comply with their sign (which still is the most ironic thing, can't have a loaded gun in a GUNSHOP, but I can go anywhere else loaded?)

I buy most of my primers there, very good price. Powder is OK, bullets are not as good anymore as they are having trouble getting small amounts of Rainier ballistics bulk packs. Rainer wants people to buy like 60,000 at a time minimum order!

Bargain table sometimes has some good stuff too, always check that out when I go in there. bought 2 handguns from them also.

Just got home Saturday from a week in Hawaii, man am I glad to be back home where I can OC!

Everywhere in Yelm continues to be a non issue, stopped in Safeway again no hassle or strange looks from anyone.

Hey, just out of curiousity, what holster wre you wearing at the BBQ? In a quest for comfort your holster looked nice.

I actually made that holster when I bought the gun in May, I dabble in leather work and have made quite a few now. It is by far the most comfortable I've got or tried, especially being a full sized pistol. Made an identical one for my 1911 that I used for years, it's just a simple ITW design with a couple snap flaps to lock it onto a belt.

It easily hides the gun too if I ever have to CC, my extra mags stick out more than the gun does!

I also have the serpa CQC for it if I need retention but it's not near as comfortable as my home made leather one.

I've got designs that fit just about any Glock, the problem is finding leather! I use 9oz. I've got a big industrial sewing machine to do the stitching.

can't remember if I mentioned it on here already, but spent about 30 min in Harbor Freight yesterday in Lacey, no issue. Staff was very friendly and nobody commented except for a lady behind me; "oh, a handgun" and kept on about her conversation. Got two double takes from customers but all the employees were very cool and polite. Didn't notice any signs on the way in (course, I didn't realize the 3' sign on county line, so take that FWIW! )

Korean BBQ, Mr. Postman, RV's & Hitches (propane $1.39! I converted my generator to propane.), and Winco in Lacey. At Winco the guy in front of me said "your pretty ballsy!". After saying I've never had an issue in over two years, we had short pleasant conversation. Today I was carrying my newest gun an American Classic II 1911, very nice for a Philippine made gun. It was $512 at the PX. A bit too heavy, but I felt like "dressing up".

I also dabble in leather; I originally got into it to make something nicer for OCing my Ruger SP101, which is too pretty to hide in a Kydex piece of crap. I still haven't done that, but I've made a few cell pouches, a Kindle case, a quick strip pouch--things of that nature. Most of my stuff so far comes from Tandy Leather Factory; they have a store in Parkland off 512 if you haven't been by. The manager there CCs a revolver, judging by the speed loader pouches on his belt. (Leather, of course.) They are OC friendly; at least, no one has ever remarked upon it.

(I did a quick look on their current sales, and didn't see anything for over 5-6 oz. veg-tan, but prices and sales change frequently.)

If you want to really dress that 1911 up, ebay has all kinds of grips. I get complements on my $20.

My saddle making friend never ever orders leather from tandy. I will give her a call and get the names of a couple of good sources online.

BTW that sewing machine, did you get it new or used? I looked into buying even a used one once and they are not cheap.
