I coulda swore I saw nothing on the door last week but I'll have to look tomorrow when I go in there. Chris is usually working when I go in and it's never even raised any eyebrows. wierd that a gun shop of all places would not want OC!

Made my usual rounds thru Yelm yesterday, continues to be a no issue everywhere I go; Mountain lumber seems cool with OC, get some quizzical looks here and there but I know most of the employees and nobody has said anything. Safeway was no issue, talked with several of the floor guys restocking the wine, not even any strange looks from anyone. Pretty nice to be able to go about the day OCing without anyone freaking out.

Oc at a local taco bus joint (now inside an old butcher shop). Got a ton of uneasy looks from many "authentic" looking Hispanics. If it wasn't for me " this guy needs a beer" t shirt they'd probably thought I was some type of LEO.

Federal way discount guns, sign on the door yesterday "no loaded guns". Went in CC. Not a fan of there lack of customer service, but they were the only place that had the part I needed. Still rude.

Safeway gas station lakewood.. I walk in and the lady smiled and said You can't carry that in here... kinda laughing. She said I don't know why people are so scared of people that carry a gun, especially in the open! Chatted for a minute and left to go into the actual store.

Safeway store.. walked in started shopping. noticed store security stalking a customer, they are the worst at being in conspicuous. Went about shopping, guy came up from behind me saying... I didn't know this was a open carry state, sounding more like a statement than a question. I said yep sure is. he said fine with me, but I prefer people not know I carry and he just walked away. Went on shopping and noticed another guy stalking that same customer, and he almost lept behind the deli counter as the guy started to turn around. It was so comical. I stayed by the Deli counter and waited for the kid to leave the store. didn't want the kid to see me carrying a gun and get more aware of what was going on around him. It boggles my mind how often I see people getting caught stealing at stores. makes me wonder how many people a day they catch and don't catch.

O/c in Renton today. Went to Walmart nothing exciting happend except the black guys rollin in the hoopty shouting mine is better than yours!! Had a nice chuckle to myself thinking yea I bet, but mine is legal... Im no racist or anything... Went to The Rock lastnight in Federal way and had the best service ever. Had a couple give me a shocked kinda look, but nothing said. Even the manager came over to make sure things were ok. HMMMM... Had an interesting event in Auburn the other night with Auburn PD. Let them know I was carrying after I was being pulled out of the car..... Was even put in cuffs for the first time in 14 years.. Unrelated to the big bad "G" word, but I am ok.

7-11 south tacoma and 108th by my shop.

Went in no big deal. I go there several times a day. Came out got in truck and a car pulls in behind me blocking me from pulling out after I had already had the car started and put in in reverse to back out. I roll down the window and say do you mind moving forward a little so I can leave. They apeared to be waiting for someone to come out. Lady yelled at me from the hoopty that they would move when they were damn well ready to move. I opened my truck door and steped out. Heard the driver say "****" and through it in gear moving forward. She snaped her neck around to the guy driving and said Dre WTF you doin. He said shut up b*tch. I got back in my truck and left.

Amazing how atitude can change in 10 seconds.

In my opinion this is a dumb move and may well be in violation of .270.

What you did was manifest and intent to intimidate. You did in a manner (leaving a position where the gun was not in view), under circumstances (there was a disagreement about parking), at a time and place (the time and place coincided with the incident about parking)....

Believe what you want, but you would be wrong. And I will bet huge on this. There is nothing that I can be charged with for simply getting out of my vehicle I did not say anything, or touch a weapon. Or even step toward them. If I choose to get out of my car to talk to someone, it makes no difference at all if I have a gun on my side or not. I did not do anything intimidating, it was exactly as if I didn't have it and got out. It's just like when a person calls a MWAG and the person did nothing wrong. Their perception is wrong, it doesn't mean your commiting a crime. Some people think you need to walk on eggshells carrying a gun. You should act the same, respectable no matter if your carrying or not. Now if I got out and put my hand on it or said something to elude something stupid sure I would agree.

For all I know, it was the fact a 300+ pound 6 foot tall guy was getting out of his truck and they didn't even see the gun. Regardless, as long as you are not an idiot and do something that warrants alarm, the fact you have a gun on doesn't automatically mean you are using it to intimidate. Just because you open carry does not mean you should do anything different than if you concealed carry. You act civilized, just like you should no matter what. You just happen to have a gun on your side. If someone else gets worried, thats on them. just like 911 calls to guys walking in the park.

I will ask my lawyer about it next week and get his opinion. Intent is hard to pruve period. Intent is a mental attitude with which an individual acts, and therefore it cannot ordinarily be directly proved but must be inferred from surrounding facts and circumstances. Intent refers only to the state of mind with which the act is done or omitted. And if someone is an active open carry advocate, the fact they always have a gun on them will make it even harder to pruve they were doing something other than going about their everyday activities.

In my opinion this is a dumb move and may well be in violation of .270.

Intent comes into play.

You can't say he INTENDED to intimidate him.

Let me block you in, and see how long you wait in your car...

By your interpretation, if I go up to anyone to ask them something, and they freak out, I 'intended to intimidate them'.

I see it merely as unintended consequences. Everyone here has stories of people walking the other direction, or Disadvantaged Urban Youth® clearing out at the sign of a law abiding citizen with a firearm.

HELL, most people on here say they carry to PREVENT someone from robbing them. You're' ADMITTING to ATTEMPTING to INTIMIDATE someone...

BTW, enjoy the show in Spokane, say Hi to Josh over at the SAA booth for me ;)

Good, now you don't have to load and unload when running around. Honestly, I was a bit concerned when you loaded and unloaded out side my vehicle at the store. Granted, you were within the law. Some sheep are spooked more than others. Here's a dancing monkey. :monkey

Agreed, I do not like unholstering my weapon in public unless at a range. And to boot, my cpl showed up in about 20-25 days.

Got stopped by Auburn pd lastnight for failing to use turn signal...OOPPS....As he approached drivers side and asked for id and reg, ins I let him know that my stuff was in the glove box along with my cpl and a carry. Never did mention to him the big bad G word. He was very ploite and professional. Asked what i carried and let him know a glock. He said as long as I am not faster than him he was cool with it. I did not receive a ticket, or get pulled out at gun point, nor did others show up for backup. We talked about guns in general for a quick second, and he fully supports us to carry, and wishes more people would. We bid eachother a safenight, and both on our way. I then open carried into Albertsons on 15th st. and no words were mentioned. I got a glance from the cashier and I could tell she was a bit nervous since she fumbled a couple of my items. Great night.

Thursday Sept 20th: Went to the South Hill Wal Mart in Puyallup to get some .308. They were out of the .308 that I wanted. I then asked the Associate if she could see what other stores had any in stock. After a few minutes, she said that the Auburn Wal Mart had lots in stock. I said my thanks and headed to Auburn. Went into the Auburn Wal Mart, had to use the restroom and then headed to the Sporting Goods Department. Verified they had what I wanted in stock and asked the Assoiciate for three boxes of .308. As I was walking out, another guy approached me and asked if anyone gave me any crap for OC'ing, I said not really, every once in a while a civilian may say somehting, but that is usually cause they do not understand that Washington is a Open Carry State. He said he CC's and pointed to his fanny pack. Since I already seen the fanny pack, I pretty much figured that he had a pistol in it. Anyways, after that it was back home.

Saturday Sept 22: Took my 8 year old to Alder Lake to go fish. OC'ed as always. I wore one of my hats that said (Harbor Defense Patrol). When we go to the docks, a few Russians (not trying to be racist) were lined up shoulder to shoulder. A couple of females kinda glared at me as I walked down but nothing was said. My son managed to squeeze his way in between a couple of them and fished while I stood back and fished where nobody was. I mainly kept an eye on my son while he fished. At one point my son had a fish on and it got tangled in some other guys line, they were trying to carefully get it free, I just walked over, cut the line grabbed the fish and put it on the stringer. One guy said he told my son to be careful, I just looked at him and said "crap happens when people fish close". He didn't say much nor would I expect him too. We were pretty much done for the day, so we packed up and went home.

Sunday Sept 23: Went to Bonney Lake Wal Mart and bought a spotting scope then went up past FS 70. Friend of mine just bought a New Remington 700 7mm for hunting, so we took it up and zeroed it at 25 yards and then 100. I OC'ed the entire time. I also took my Ruger American Rifle .308 and zeroed it at 100yds. My girl took out the spotting scope and noticed it was broken. (good thing my friend bought one that was not broken) Once we left from the top of the hill, we went back to Wal Mart and exchanged the spotting scope with no issues. Gotta love Wal Mart.

Yesterday went to my old job in Renton to see a couple friends who all are gun nuts. Several there have pistols and rifles. I went in o/c and had several strange looks. One of the guys came up to me and said "WHOA" why are you open carry? I let him know its perfectly legal and I do not have to hide what Ive got. He seems to think it causes too much trouble. I let him know not much trouble at all. Stayed there for about an hour and then went into Walmart to pick up some more .223 amo all the while still o/c. No issue there.

First day of fall quarter for me at college, OCd all day from the time I walked out of my last class about noon. Headed out to walmart to spend some money getting new clothes and school supplies. >< I feel bad about spending $300. Had a couple nice ladies help me grab all the things I needed... I hate to shop... I'm a guy... One of the ladies actually commented about loving to help guys shop cuz it's so easy lol. She asked me what I was carrying and told me her and her husband had 8 guns at home. Had a short conversation bout guns while picking out new clothes for school... been so long since I added to my wardrobe(sp?). OCd more on PT buses, not a problem all day.

Oc'd into Sam's Club and Walmart with no issues other than the greeter at Sam's never taking her eyes off my hip. I discovered that liquor in general is cheaper at Sam's than Walmart. A bottle of Sailor Jerry's is apprx. $23 at Walmart while Sam's is charging $16 for the same bottle.
Last week the Wife and I went camping at Fort Stevens State Park in Oregon. We hung out in Seaside and Cannon Beach with me OC the whole three days. I had never been to Oregon before and I had a great time.

Clover Park Tech in lakewood. Can CC all you want and even OC if you like but they would rather you didn't. I was told that if I were to open carry and it upset a student to the point where they didn't feel comfortable in class, then I wouldn't be able to OC lol... But I didn't carry at school, I just transported till I was done with my classes then OCd after.
