Went and bought me a new Dodge today and after the test drive I told the guy helping me that I appreciated the fact that they weren't posted (I don't think I even said 30.06 or 07 just "that you aren't posted") he said" yeah, we don't care, you can carry it openly for all we care." just wanted to put that out there for anyone in the area searching for a car.

Sweet! Hope you enjoy the new toy! Would you mind letting us know which dealership it was so if anybody else is in the market for a new vehicle they can potentially take their $$$ there to show appreciation?

Don Davis in Lake Jackson, the guy that said that to me was Chris. (I remember the convo now he was talking about locking a pistol in the glove box and taking the key and only giving the keyless entry and start fob to the valet)

Many of the usual places I've mentioned before but added a new one last night... Busbee's BBQ on Main Street in Bandera. Awesome BBQ too. I believe they were featured on one of those History Channel shows.

Stopped by Pat Lobb Toyota in McKinney for about 30 minutes last night. No signs in sight anywhere. Had to run a veritable gauntlet of people holding doors, "hi," "welcome," "have you talked to anyone," and "can I get you a water" just to get in the door to the showroom, none of whom seemed the least bit bothered.

Busbee's....yummmmmm!!!!! FANTASTIC BBQ.
Was in Helotis today....blue skies all around, other than a couple of HS boys in Wally World...gave me a WIDE berth as they passed me in the isle. Also, while filling some water bottles at Lowes in Bandera an older lady came up to the machine next to me with her 3 gal bottle. She sat the bottle in the machine, put her $.20 cents in and started to fill the bottle. She glanced over at me and, out of the corner of my eye I noticed her eyes move to my right side. Her eyes got big, she looked away, and then looked back...eyes fixed on my weapon. Not a word was said as she quickly retrieved her bottle and moved out sharply in the direction of her car.
It was priceless!!!! I guess she thought that "scary gun" was going to jump out of the holster and go "BOOM".
I am amazed how well trained my weapons are...none of them ever leave their holster or the closet where I keep them when not wearing them. None go BANG without me letting them. AMAZING!!!!
Got to go to SA tomorrow...not sure if I'll carry since we have to go to Ft. Sam Houston. Not worth the risk...IMHO.

Fortunately, here in San Angelo I live just a few miles from Goodfellow AFB so that when I need to go to that installation, it's not too much of a hassle to drive to the house and put the "hardware" in the safe before heading to the base.

But you're right...Not worth the risk.

Haha right! I went up to China Bowl to get an order to go last night (incidentally I found out it had been voted in top 100 Chinese restaurants in the USA!). It was super busy in there and they had all different staff as usual (apparently the owner is a perfectionist and always firing the staff). Well, when the young lady handed me my food I turned to exit the door (making my weapon highly visible) only to hear this massive gasp-whoaa combination from her.

BTW How you fixed for a coffee and stogie on Saturday? I still have those two Montecristo's that need firing up!

Caffeine and a Monty sound good for Sat. Don't think the wife has anything on her "honey-do list" that won't wait till Sun...or Mon...or ???
I see that our friend Scott lost to Bubba-Butts for Sheriff. The good 'ol boy system is alive and well in Bandera county
Will bring a couple of spare stogies in case we need a backup. Never can tell.

Sounds like a plan! Wifey will be out of town till Sunday so I know I'm good. Last weekend was a dead loss since we got stuck in all that traffic on I-10 for several hours last Saturday heading into S.A.

Scott is on my Facebook now and it was the first thing I saw when I got up this morning. Sucks. I shot him an email. It was just too late in the game for me to do much to help him but I've told him next time around I'm going to get his signs, flyers, etc. done so he doesn't need to be worrying so much about the cost. I'm very nearly done reading his book. What the county did back then to him, his son and his mom was despicable. Though it's crazy that after all the shenanigans Sheriff and co. did, they managed to nail him on a stupid boat of all things! I guess that's the only thing they felt they had solid proof on.

Did you ever get in touch with Lance about when his cigar shop was opening back up? I have all these "guns welcome" signs I need to hand out but I just don't know anybody personally yet :)

Went by John Eagle Lemmon Ave dealership to get car washed - no one noticed; later at Drip Coffee on Lovers the owner did come over and ask 'what's going on?'....told him that now OC was legal it is nice not to always wear a jacket, and since we do live in inner city, it is nice to carry when cops are minutes away. He was fine with it - no one else noticed.

Sweet!

Unfortunately I spotted my first 30.07 sign in Bandera last night. I was driving by and noticed a big ol' 30.07 in the door of the liquor store on Hwy 16 across from the cowboy store. I don't go there but I'm going to stick 'em with a card, letter, and whatever else might get them to see sense in taking it down.

I had gone to grab pizza from Cowboy Capital Pizza. The owners weren't there but the lady that's normally there on weekends was there and I pointed out that I'd noticed they'd put up the "guns welcome" sign I had given them last week. She said "oh yeah, they've also given a couple to other biz owners that asked about it when they saw it"--but she didn't know who those businesses were. So now I'm chomping at the bit to find out. :)

Not sure if it counts as a unicorn spotting, but ran into an off duty police officer at the Roanoke Tractor Supply. Tshirt and OWB semi auto. Some sort of police logo on the shirt, but no badge, so I'm going with unicorn!

Clerk at the register said he appreciated my open carry and that he wished he saw it more often. I may just have to oblige.

Carry on!

...

A "semicorn"???

.
Another great hook up for coffee/breakfast/cigars with MP(Retired) today. Did OST Diner. No issues from the two state troopers sitting by the checkout area as we left. Plenty of gawps from a bunch of people through the window when we stood outside for a while before heading up to TJ's at the Old Forge to see the cigar guy. Strangely, TJ's has no signage whatsoever so we still don't know if it's a 51% place or OK for licensed carry. Either way, nobody cared about the two clearly armed guys in there. :) We then stopped across the street at C&D Power Sports motorcycle place before smoking a stogie at Heritage Park (this has to be the world's smallest park by the way!). Helped some tourists taking photos then chatted with some nice people from Illinois with a couple of mighty fine German Shepherds before heading over to the Cowboy Store so I could buy a new pair of boots.

Tonight had to go to Western Union in Lowes Market to wire $$ to a friend then ended up in Burger King to get something to eat.

Overall a great OC day!

Almost two unicorns (semicorns) in a row! Ran into another fellow at Costco in N. Ft. Worth just a moment ago with an empty Fobius holster but full mag pouches.

I really hate Costco's unposted policy... need to reconsider my membership. Good to see someone willing to silently object, however.

Thanks brother! Weird though that they don't have the standard blue "The unlicensed possession..." signs up.

https://www.tabc.state.tx.us/laws/sign_requirements.asp

Bars have a different posting requirement.

I frequently see no signs when entering places that serve (as opposed to sell containers of ) alcohol.

Was in Kroger earlier and the cashier said I was his first open carrier. I told him that's why they're called unicorns.

Now that's definitely a semicorn!

Well this particular place has only been open about 3 weeks so I'm guessing that may be why there's no signage yet. Still, I'm happy it's not a 51%'er
