From a retailer's perspective:
I own a retail liquor store in Connecticut. Anyone is welcome to open carry in my store (I am all about 2A rights and open carry). But as a practical matter, know this. If it is 8:00PM at night and I see you have a handgun on your side, you get some extra special scrutiny from me (can you blame me? Put yourself in my shoes. I don't know you and what your intentions are). I've only had one OCer so far come into my store in which we had a friendly discussion and parted our ways (I actually gave her a discount for OC in which I totally welcome). Know this: If I see you are armed (or even if you're not visibly armed), I am at a heightened state of alertness until you leave (especially if there is a group of two of more). Just something to think about....store owners are sometimes armed/trained just as you are if not more so in anticipation of a robbery. This being stated, feel free to picket the stores that don't allow you to carry or more importantly, vote with your pocketbook. Just don't frequent these stores (I know I won't).
