I was thinking about this location.... We meet at Front st at Heritage Park, work our way down Front St to Fremaux Ave (about 3 blocks), head east on Fremaux 3 blocks to Sargent Alfred st (3rd st), then south on 3rd for a couple blocks (maybe 3-4 blocks), turn onto Cousin st to come thru Old Towne and back to Front st, then it would be 4-5 blocks back to the starting point. This would be a mile or so route and should take 1-2 hours to make. We end up back at Heritage park in time for lunch, either at the park for a grill/picnic or at Times Bar and Grill.
Pros & Cons
Bonus sites along this route are the Mayors office, City Hall, and Slidell PD office.
On a Saturday morning, Olde Towne will be pretty much dead, very little traffic once we are off of Front and Fremaux.
My only concern is the school zone (1000 ft remember) that is at 3rd st and Guzman. I think we would remain more than 3 blocks from it.
Other location would be somewhere on Gause Blvd. Maybe at Gause and Front, we meet in the large parking lot of Rouse's, then work out way up Gause on one side the back down the other side to return to the Rouse's. This may not be good, there is a school at Gause and 6th st, that would only give us 3-4 blocks to work with.
A good Gause Blvd location would be to meet at the large parking lot at Hobby Lobby, about 3 blocks off of i-10 (good for out-of-towners). We could work our way down Gause to Lakewood drive, back up the other side of Gause to I-10, then back to the parking lot. There is lots of traffic, lots of private businesses, resturants and eateries along here also.
