I have only recently started to OC at home (though I am always carrying) and it is much more comfortable for me, especially when I'm kicking the ball around with my 4 year old son. I carry my S&W Sigma .40 in an old Galco paddle holster I used for a Glock 23 back in the 90's.

Yep

I OC at home all the time. As soon as I get home I have glock on my hip till I go to sleep.

Same here..my Glock 30 is in my holster from the time I get up (after showering and stuff) until rack time. And even then it's nearby...I sold my Mossberg 12 ga to a buddy so I have to keep my 'protector' close by...

Not a good idea to attack me when I'm cutting the grass. Taurus 9mm 24/7 with 15 rounds of Hornady Critical Defense. (can't wait for the zombie ammo to be available!)

Ditto to most of the posts in this thread.

The wife and I always open carry around the house. The only time our guns aren't on us is when we are showering, sleeping, or doing "activities" .

I OC around the house as well. I used to "unholster" once in my home, then the kids came along.... After researching a variety of storage options, I decided to purchase a quality vault/safe for my guns and lock them up. The only one out of the safe (at times, two) are my daily carry (OC) FNX-40, and sometimes my "BUG", the Taurus .38spl revolver. We ordered a pizza several weeks ago, and the delivery driver got a bit bug eyed when I came outside, but I ignored his reaction until he asked "is that thing real?"...
Reading on Cathy Jackson's site "Cornered Cat" also convinced me that having my weapon locked in a safe/box didn't make it accessable, andreminded me that leaving it accessable, but unsecured makes it a hazard to my kids. She encouraged those inclined to do so to simply carry all the time; I agree with her and now do. The gun, belt, and holster hang on the corner of the bed where my phone charges. When I get up, I grab both items, and get dressed; my spare mag and holder are with my wallet, which lives in our bathroom where the morning's clothes are set out. Now I'm looking into a way to keep my 12ga safely accessable as well, as it is much preferred over the pistols for home defense...

Ive had one break in a few years back plus one additional attempt a few years later, several attempts on the cars. Last year when my brother and I lived together I was at work but I he told me while he was playing his Xbox someone walked right up on the porch and looked inside the door (the main door was open) and made a comment about him playing. The neighborhood I'm in is generally on the lower end of the spectrum so I OC inside and outside my home. A few people in the neighborhood have seen me outside my home so far, but at this point my gun on my hip feels as familiar as the cell phone in my pocket. Its more of an accessory to my clothing now.

I OC at home all the time. The GF is slowly coming around that maybe its reasonable after all.

We've had a few small things stolen out of the back yard. She called 911 to report prowlers a week ago. Last night at 11PM we're in the living room when someone walks up to the locked front door and tries to come in. I jumped up to find out the guy was looking for my neighbor's party.

GF was seriously spooked and realized that the time frame made anything short of arm's reach useless.

"If Nudity Offends You, Please Do Not Ring Bell."

That technique worked great on JW, and the guys selling frozen steaks, but if anything, it increased the frequency of visits from the LDS. I guess they count as "dedicated".

If I'm not actually carrying in the house, it's in arms reach. I'm not much for pants in my own house, so my FEG Hi-Power is often on the bookcase next to my desk. Wife is better about wearing hers. The Saiga-12 is adjacent to the master bath door, and an ammo can with more mags for Saiga and Hi-Powers, a 3rd Hi-Power (and a lot of desiccant) is inside the bathroom. Along most of the bathroom wall (in the bedroom) are boxes full of paperbacks. Not as dense as phone books, but turned end-ways and stacked 3 boxes high. That's 17" of cover minimum, which should be good vs anything but AP rounds. Bathroom has an escape hatch to under the house (bit slow to open, has screws securing it).

I think it is a good habit to practice and it is also good if you have a family (Mainly children) so that they are no stranger to the realities of life! I am a new OC advocate  and i have to admit i am nervous but i see the light at the end of the tunnel especially with all of the support locally and nationally. The apartments i live and work in just had a murder (One apartment down and across) and that really prompted me to get active and be aware of my surroundings. . . .

Last year when I got back from deployment my wife decided to leave me and go live with my new boss at the time (LPO for those former Navy) I lived in a apartment that had a lot of homeless people that would harass fellow neighbors. 2weeks after I got back I picked up my 1911 A1 after a very long day of having cops show up asking why I was trying to kill myself with a gun I wouldn't own for 12 hours and things from the military. Anyways that night I was playing Call of Duty BlackOps I hear some neighbors screaming. So I went to my door to listen just incase it was a homeless person trying to rob a couple as it had happened to me before. A few seconds into it I heard a thump and a baby start crying and a second woman's voice say you made me drop my baby. I grabbed my phone and walked to the door that this fight was going on and had 911 on the phone. The guy was caught cheating by his wife and ya it was a mess. After the guy say me he got aggravated and went into the kitchen and grabbed a 6in knife. After seeing that i put my phone on speaker and dropped to the ground and started yelling drop the knife so dispatch would know what was going on and I drew my gun. He stopped and just stood there for what seemed like forever. After I heard the cops coming I told dispatch that I had a gun and that until cops showed up I wasn't going to let my guard down. Had my Navy PT gear on so when they showed up I dropped my mag un chambered the gun and dropped it to the ground below as I was in the second story. I was hand cuffed but released with no charges as the wife was telling the cops with out me intervening they would be doing a murder investigation as he had several domestic assault charges on him already. (hes still in jail) Ever since then I bought a Mossberg 500 SPX with a EOTECH 556 and thats always with in a few seconds of grabbing and my 1911 is always on my side.

Tomorrow I'm getting a Gen4 Glock 22 as my new CC for next month :) So then my 1911 can stay sleeping next to my bed. And I can keep my laser on it.

You gave me an idea, instead of the bathroom, the bedroom. Think I will work on that this week. Just a hinged trapdoor will do.
I also have one of them 95lbs noise makers to. Plus a few others in the house.
