We had an OC get-together today in Pullman and it went off great. We parked downtown and walked a few blocks to Quiznos. I waited outside while everyone else went inside because I was finishing up a phone call. When I entered I noticed that somebody had already started a conversation with Kevin about us carrying. I walked up and took over talking to him so that Kevin could order. I explained that we were normal citizens that normally carried concealed but due to recent events, have been carrying openly more and more to bring a general awareness to the public that it's never the firearm that's the problem, it's the person that had access to it. He agreed with me and said that that made perfect sense and loved getting one of the pamphlets. We talked for about 5 minutes with several other customers listening in. Very good talk and everybody involved was very pleased with what we were doing.
I then ordered my sandwich and at the register had one of the workers comment that everybody seemed to be carrying pistols. I repeated the same speech about who we were and why we were doing it and handed him a pamphlet as well. He looked through it, asked me several questions about gun laws concerning concealed carry (he owned a pistol) and thanked me for being so helpful. He stated that he supported what we were doing and loved that the pamphlet had everything that he needed in one place. While this was going on there were several employees listening in. Nobody seemed nervous and everybody seemed very interested in what I had to say and were nodding there heads in agreement.
Afterwards, we snapped a picture of the four of us who were carrying (there were 5 of us total). I think it's important that we start posting more pictures of us out and about when OCing both to encourage new members and to put a face on us so that the general public can see that we're just average people who care about our rights and freedoms.
EDIT: We really looked happier than this walking around town, it's just that the sun was in our face when the picture was taken
