Three NHP officers eating dinner.

Yesterday was like another day, I was oc'ing. I was all over town paid my insurance in north las vegas, paid my AT&T bill on blue diamond and jones area oh and a gentleman working there asked if I new anyone looking to buy a XD45 he has his for sale450$ FYI.

Grabbed some frozen yogurt from golden spoon. Then had Dinner at cafe rio on blue diamond. I didn't notice the three NHP LEOS sitting down eating until I looked for a seat. As always I have eyes on me not from NHP but from the other customers. Apparently the customers looked at me and looked at the LOEs and back at me like I was breaking the law...
We sat down ate our dinner and NPH LEO's had no problem of my girlfriend and I being there. Honestly, I have oc'ed for 6 months now and yet to run into LEO's so I was a bit nervous being my first time around them. I then felt comfortable when I started to eat and carry on a conversation with my girl.

After dinner I wanted to stop by the gun store on Blue Diamond but I read stories that u need to unload your firearm before entering. I don't agree with that . :banghead: My opinion it is dangerous to unload your weapon than to leave one in the chamber. Anyways we ended up going home.

Another good day for me...

All I will say is that there is a reason I haven't been to that store in many years. The only thing they have going for them is the instructor they use (at least back then) for CCW, Chuck Bolden of TAPS. Come to think of it, there were a bunch of veterans in the store one day I was there with my friend who wanted to look for a new pistol. We mentioned we were Navy veterans, and they insulted us for it. Yeah, you're right; they're azzhats...

Me and a friend decided to hang out down on fremont street friday night while OCing, we started out by hanging out at the cigar shop next to insert coin, we then figured we would wonder down the street and see what bands/acts where playing on the stages. Well we decided we needed to go to the bathroom so i said hey lets go in 4queens ive never had any problems OCing in there. So as im finishing up at the yernal i turn around to go wash my hands and see a security guard enter then turn around and leave. Now at this point i kinda figured something was up so i exit the bathroom to find the security guard waiting there reading my description over the radio, at the moment another security guard came up to me and told me that i could not have a firearm in the casino, I immediatly complied and said ok im leaving.

So now im outside and waiting for my friend to finish up in the bathroom so i give him a call to give him a headsup about the security guards. After i get off the phone the security guards come outside and try to help me understand the law.... "You know you walk into these casinos around here with that on your gonna end up on the floor" says one of the security guards to me... so i ask in return "why is that?" he then tells me " you cannot carry a firearm on private property" so at this point i proceeded to explain in a nice calm manner why that is not the case... but halfway through the explanation he cuts me off and says "no your wrong" then his other buddy backs him up and says im wrong as well and proceeds to ask me if i am even from nevada, clearly a suitable questions since the majority of there guests are from out of town... however in his condescending voice it was very rude. So at this point i explain to the gentlemen that im more then willing to have a conversation with them however i cant do that if they are unwilling to let me speak and keep cutting me off... so the one to my right comes back at me immediatly with "because your wrong" to which i immediatly said "thanks this conversation is over"

So that was the most eventful part of the evening the only other thing that happened was that me and my buddy where outside Fremon Casino just standing around watching the hustlers perform for tips when we noticed 3 guys talking to a securtiy guard in the Fremont Casino entrance pointing at us as basically seeming to either rat us out or trying to ask if it was legal for us to do what we were doing... either way they left shortly after and the security guard had a smile on his face. Being as Boyd Properties, Fremont Casino being one of them, post signs that they do not allow firearms i decided to not approach the security guard to ask him the situation.

Other then that we had a fun time and had several people come up to us and ask us about our firearms and we politely answered there questions.

The Four Queens thing really irritates me for the simple fact that im not going to get into a verbal altercation with them for the simple fact of proving them wrong, however i feel that them coming out of the casino to try to tell me what i was doing was illegal was borderline harassment. I may be wrong in that, and i could hav asked for there supervisor however either one of them may have been the supervisor or the supervisor would have been just as dumb as them.

Download and print the pamphlet from these forums.

Hand those guys copies. They are wrong.

But, the property owner CAN choose to trespass those who do not meet their desires.

But as you know, OC on private property is legal.

Casinos are always hit or miss. The biggest problem I have with what he said is the threat of bodily harm when he explained if you do it again, you're going to wind up on the floor. He can ask you to leave, but if he tackles you, he's in the wrong and should be prosecuted.

Just as police require proper lawful authority to detain you, a citizen must have very specific articulable facts before he can perform a citizen arrest, ESPECIALLY if detaining you requires the use of force. See NRS 171.126. http://www.leg.state.nv.us/nrs/NRS-171.html#NRS171Sec126

The agents of gaming companies (such as their security) have additional authority granted by NRS 171.1235 http://www.leg.state.nv.us/nrs/NRS-171.html#NRS171Sec1235 but that is only applicable to felonies committed on gaming property.

I might have been tempted to ask him to call police to prove that you're right, but on the other hand, he just might have tried to trespass you and the police tried to enforce this, and now you're in the system. I think what you did is the best, just move on and have a good time.

Yah i agree, about the bodily harm, which I highly doubt would happen, but wouldnt put it past the intelligence of some of these security guards. Im still thinking of contacting the head of security and informing him of my experience.

Utah, Galeria, South Point, Fantastic,

Hello fellow OC'ers. I would like to share my experiences in the last week.

To start off I travelled to Salt Lake city Ut. Friday the 19th. I stopped in mesquite to buy some alcohol BYOB to my brothers wedding. LoL No problems there. Our next stop was in St. George at the smash burger. There food was horrible real greasy, felt a little sick. We made some more stops on the way and I was pleased that no had a problem with me oc'ing.
We stayed at Magnuson hotel in Midvale ut. That place is definitely OC friendly. Enough talk about Utah it was great being able to travel knowing I am protected by the law and my firearm.

Now once again this is my 5th time walking around Galeria mall and no one asked me to leave I even parked by the Henderson substation. Had some lookers but no issue there.

Same day we went to S.P. And had some lunch from steaks and shakes even parked in there garage and walked the casino floor and still no issue.

Today me and my dad who is a retired Leo (I know it's not relevant) but on the way into the Fantastic swap meet he acknowledges there is a sign no FIREARMs. He laughs at it cause he knows and understands the law. Well we walked through the entire complex only one guy working at his booth came up to us and asks us "do you have permits to carry?" my dad said no Nevada is an open carry state. And we explained what that meant. He was very interested in open carry. I also told him to visit opencarry.org and do some research on our laws and how to be safe while OC'ing. Hopefully our knowledge recruits another law abiding citizen to open carry.
Anyways other than that our walk around the fantastic swap meet was great. That's it for now.

I also have been in the Galleria OCing. No problem. Last Summer I rode my motorcycle up to Helper UT to a motorcycle camping groups get together. I pull a small pop-up tent trailer behind the bike. End up stopping about every 100 to 150 miles. Open carried the whole time. OCing down I15, I70 and up to Helper with my firearm in clear view of vehicles on my strong side. Open carried in the truck stops getting gas, Cracker Barrel in St Gorge. At the city park in Helper. Around 1500 miles on that outing. Not one issue.

I had a pretty interesting experience last night, I decided to ride my bike down the block to subway and grab a bite to eat, I OC there all the time, well I get inside and get the usual stares from the customers. I look outside and see a LEO get out of his civilian car and start heading in I'm thinking ” well hope I did my homework to get outta this” but he walks in and gets right behind me well we just started talking and not one mention of the gun on my hip. I get my food and we part ways. He said he was running late for work he worked at the detention center, told me they can do everything cops can except right tickets, either thats why he didn't do anything or he didn't care and was well aware I was within my rights, either way thought it was pretty cool experience, I think.

Be safe out there guys.

My Dad is a retired CO at the Las Vegas City Jail (Detention & Enforcement) He absolutely supports open carry. He understands the reason to carry. I think because CO's are around criminals 10-12hrs a day they know that criminals are dangerous. I carry openly with my dad around and he feels the safety and comfort of my strong side.

Also I would like to add my experience yesterday while carrying at bells factory outlet mall. Me and my girlfriend did some shopping. We walked from one end of the mall to the other stopping in plenty of stores not one person had an issue. Security guard even asked what model Glock I had. Very short conversation with security and then I was back to shopping.

My family belongs to a food coop and we were picking up our weekly produce baskets at the park next to Central Christian Church off Russell. I was approached by one of the volunteer workers. He thanked me for being armed. This really reminded me that I need to carry a pamphlet about open carry for such occasions.

My friend, I remember that like it was yesterday. It was great meeting you and your wife.

I've been eating breakfast while open carrying at IHOP once or twice a month. You're saying I should cease patronizing this establishment because of a recent event at an IHOP several miles to the south?
