NFA is just a store though, not a range too (right?) Places like american shooters have seperate businesses for the retail side and the range side I think.

Discount allows loaded carry in the store and the range is in the store more than American Shooters is. So again I dont buy into that. Any gun store who will not allow me to carry gets ZERO biz. And going out and clearing a weapon then reloading when done is more dangerous than a holstered loaded gun.

Not apologizing for them...but consider this....guessing at what coulda been meant....They are a gun place, they have insurance...

I understand the logic you are using, but imagine if every other store in town just added the words "For insurance reasons..." to the signs prohibiting you from bringing weapons, loaded or not, into the place of business. If anything the bank would have more of an interest in keeping armed persons out of their lobby, but they show more respect for our rights than a gun store. Shame, shame.

This place reminded me too much of a smaller, dustier version of The Gun Store, complete with taxis waiting at the door to take tourists to and from hotels on the strip.

And to reiterate what vegassteve said, how would you feel pulling up to a place knowing that tbose same chuckleheads who swept you in your CCW class are now milling about the parking lot trying to empty their (legally) loaded weapons?

If it is an insurance issue and they want my business, they better find a new carrier. Gun stores get my business only if they serve my needs.
Insurance companies get business based on the needs of their customers too.

For the most part this is a repeat of what has been said however here is my $.002. I understand the concern if the gun is going to be out of the holster and handled. If I was going to bring a firearm into a gun store that I planned on handling such as for a fit to a new holster or checking the fit of a new attachment I would bring it in emptied and safed with my back up in my holster.
Discount Firearms allows OCing however, they want it to stay in the holster. You can take it into the range however; it has to stay in the holster until you are at the firing line facing the target.

The majority of the times I am on a motorcycle and standing next to my motorcycle with my gun out of the holster to empty it gets attention. I was taught, if not for defense or controlled shooting event that as soon as you remove a loaded firearm out of the holster one has just greatly increased the odds of an unwanted gun issue.

No brainer, standard safe gun handling comes into play big time, finger off the trigger, aiming in a safe direction and so on however, like a car as soon as you start it the odds of crashing is increase tremendously. If the engine has not started or the gun is still in the holster, the hazards are at a minimum. I prefer not to have to unload my gun in public unless at a range firing line, controlled shooting outing or defending me or my loved ones life, in that case it would be using the single finger unloading method.

I believe it would be putting the store insurance at a bigger risk if they constantly have customers loading and unloading their guns in their parking lot.

Hey everyone i'm new to the forum and OCing all together, I had the opportunity to OC to my mothers house today took the bus there with no problems. Had a few akward looks from people in their cars but no issues. I even got a chance to check out the range out at north decatur, I mightve found my home away from home.

I went to Scheel's in Reno looking for a new Blackhawk serpa holster and got to talking to the guy in that department about the features of different holsters. As the conversation went on he told me he was LEO and that he has always carried regardless of the law even in California. So we got to talking more and I told him I was starting to OC more now that I am learning the laws a bit better and he told me to be careful where I carry. I asked why and where not to carry. He told me I can't carry downtown or near any public building I tried explaining what the NRS says and he told me I was wrong, I even pulled out the copy of the NRS and showed him and he still told me that the law was wrong. I wasn't going to stand there and argue with him about what he obviously doesn't know. Anyway just thought I would share that little bit with you.

South point, Pizza hut

Hello my fellow oc'ers. This is my first real post here on open carry dot org I have to say it is a great honor.

Today was just like any day for me. I took my girl to dinner and a movie at south point. This was my second time oc'ing there. We had dinner at steaks n shakes. Great place by the way. We then proceeded to the theater to watch planet of the apes. Still no one hassled me for having my firearm. After the movie we walked through the casino, headed to the parking lot and went home. I never notice the looks people give but my girl did. She mentioned in the car how people will be caring on a conversation and suddenly stop to look.

I would like to share my experience last week at pizza hut on southern highland and cactus. I walked in to order and the first thing the counter lady says "sir! I'm going to ask you to leave unless your a Leo
" I said why do I need to leave?
She said " I have never had someone come in here with a gun on their hip" I explained to her that it is my liberal right to carry openly a firearm. I also explained why I carry to protect myself and my loved ones.
We talked more in detail while my pizza was being prepared. After our long conversation she actually understood. And invited me back to pizza hut anytime. It's always a good feeling when you educate a person and there is a positive outcome.

2 things. First. Someone else on here has been tossed from Southpoint so its good to know you made it. Being from St Louis I love S and S, and we havent gone because of that one guy getting tossed. So now we will have to try.

Second maybe we should do a informal lunch at that pizza hut to show them we appreciate the way they came around to you.

Great job of open carry public relations.

I guess it make since that he would carry in California regardless of the law. If his does not know Nevada law I am sure he does not know California law. I guess that is what you can do if you have a get out of jail badge card.

Galleria Mall no issue

I did open carry from one end to the other of the Galleria Mall first floor and second floor. Had lunch in the food court done this several times in the past. Wife purchased some shoes. No problems, one of our posters was asked to leave the Galleria with his open firearm some months ago. He is 30 plus year younger than I and has long hair. I would give anything to be 30 years younger and have hair.

That is what was going on with the Strip, until Tim had an "encounter" and we started going there in groups semi regularly. That behavior is what the LEO's call "Preventive Policing" google that one and tell me it is constitutional.

We are still working on the Public buildings down south. we have Steve on the library's, I went into the NHP with an unpleasent greeting, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vhLLzYHnQDg I was on the phone today about that incident, it appears that the AG may try to hide behind a statute from another state that went to the 9th circuit appeals court lol... anyway, its ok to get it back a little at a time.

I am happy I made it through there as well. I had no idea a fellow oc'er was thrown from S.P. I will continue going there.. Maybe our next luncheon should be held in South Point at Steaks n Shakes. Just an idea. It's a great burger joint and very inexpensive. On another note the pizza hut unfortunately is take out only. Thank you for all the warm welcomes.

Reno Aces ballpark

They were searching fanny packs of other patrons at the entrance so I CC'd. I don't think they'd be too happy about OC. There was a pair of Reno police roaming around, too.

The Reno Aces Ballpark is privately owned by SK Baseball LLC and not by the city of reno so, there place there rules, bummer
