Steve and I went to Dunkin Donuts for breakfast on our way to the range. Not only did they not care, but the kid assumed we were going to the range and says they get a lot of armed customers when the National matches are in town.

Well actually when we got to the range the cops were leaving the range. I ASSume on the way to dunkin.

And I made a error while in dunkin. I should have added that we carry like this regardless of range time.

The “Ballistics and Briskets” Meet-up!

My fellow Open Carriers!

The Las Vegas Open Carry of Southern Nevada is conducting another monthly meet up! By this time, we’ve traveled to various locations throughout the Las Vegas valley and enjoyed amazing eats and treats. We’ve also enjoyed the ambiance of such wonderful hospitality by those establishments that not only welcomed us, but whom also support our constitutional rights.

We’ve traveled far and wide to enjoy our camaraderie. Some have traveled further than others. This time, this meet up will be in the “center mass” of the city. By popular demand, it’s time for all you law abiding armed citizens to join with your fellow open carrying “gun slingers” to once again don your peace makers at Rollin Smoke Barbeque!

Please spread the word for the “Ballistics and Briskets” Meet-up! The info is as follows:

Date: September 27, 2014
Time: 6:00 p.m.
Location: Rollin Smoke Barbeque
3185 S. Highland Dr.
Las Vegas, NV 89109
(702) 836-3621

Hope to see you there! Remember to please bring your spouse! If you have a special someone in your life, please don’t forget to bring them too! As always, the more friends you bring the merrier! It's going to be a good time!

***PLEASE READ***
Remember, we're striving to make this a monthly event so please give me, SharpShootur, a list of any and all OC friendly restaurants and dives that you know of or find. That way, we'll have variety as well as good times!

Very Minor Incident...

So I walked into Wells Fargo OC'ing and right off, this old Asian woman with a cane gives me the "stink eye."

She was standing fourth in line waiting for a teller, while I walked over to another window and waited for service. Minding my own, but nevertheless, I could feel her stink eye following me, sizing me up.

Finally I glanced her way and sure enough, she had me in her crosshairs, looking at my Glock then looking at me with a very unpleasant face, wheels turning in her head, prolly wondering how much time she had before I decided to "rob the bank and hold everyone hostage" (quoted for comedy).

Well, she saw me looking at her and that was her cue to haul a$$. By now she was second in line, almost to the teller, but amazingly - AMAZINGLY - she stepped out of line and walked out of the bank oh so riki tik, muttering something in Japanese (I think?).

Sayonara. I imagine that evening she was glued to the TV news waiting for the SCREAMING HEADLINES of a lone gunman holding up Wells Fargo. Sorry I disappointed her.

After that I conducted my business in the bank, with no incident. Smiling helpful staff through and through. And then I was gone.

I have noticed that it is mostly older folks who ID my blaster. The young'uns seem too preoccupied, noses buried in gadgets. That's been my observation.

And when she didn't get them, it becomes a positive reinforcement for gun-carrying free Americans. This is just something you don't get with those who conceal. Yet she is probably in bank line with a concealer almost every time she is in there, I'd bet.

Hopefully she can connect the dots.

Then again, if I'm correct and she is first-gen Japanese, she may have some deep-seated cultural issues to work through. IIRC Japan is very anti-gun.

Born and raised in England--you would probably think the same for there too--but whenever I have friends or family come out to visit it doesn't bother them in the slightest. In fact, it's almost like they expect people in the US to carry. On another note, they are all pro-gun/carry and a visit to the range is usually the first thing they want to do when they get here. It's a pity they gave up their rights so easily over there because now, it seems, they want the right back..but it will be much more difficult to restore.

You have to remember that the charge to ban guns (after Dunblane) was led by the Daily Mirror over there. The editor of which was no other than Peirs Morgan at the time. As soon as Tony Blair got elected, he completely banned handguns. Then, ironically, a couple of years into the ban, Tony Blair's own daughter and her boyfriend were mugged at gunpoint in London one evening.

Sorry for going off topic but I just though you'd enjoy that tidbit. :)

That may not be justice, but it is poetic.

Assuming that the Asian woman was actually Japanese...there are definitely deep seated cultural issues. Japan is an authoritarian society and individualism is very much not encouraged. For the most part, they rely on the government to keep the peace, most actually trust their government and most government officials actually serve the people. There is an inherent trust and sense of honor amongst the people and within their society in general. The most recent example would be the earthquake that devastated the countryside. How many reports of looting did we hear about? Compare that to the "protests" in Ferguson...scumbags couldn't wait for the opportunity to loot.

So no, she won't connect the dots.

Did this happen to be the DD at Charleston and Desert Foothills? My wife and I OC in that one fairly frequently.

DMV on N. Decatur. No issues at all with the oc. It did take over 1.5 hours just to renew my license eventhough I got there 15 minutes after the doors opened. Awesome efficiency our State govment.

Interestingly, as I left, there were some folks outside asking for signatures to a pro-gun petition. They asked me to sign and one of them said, "Of course he will, look, he's NRA" as she noticed my shirt. I told them that I've heard plenty of folks "say" they are not anti-gun so let me read what your purpose is. And son-of-a-gun, their petition is for "NO NEW GUN LAWS". I signed and I pointed out to them that I was open carrying as well. They never saw it until I pointed it out.

I also ran into a guy at Walmart about an hour later who said, "Hey, I remember you from the DMV this morning. You're hard to miss with the gun on your side".

That's the one. And even though I knew it was there on Charleston, I could not get it to come up on my Scout GPS.

Well whadya know.... I wasnt born there but I spent most of my life there and a great proportion of that was in Birmingham. I actually became a gun supporter before I moved back over here and pretty much lapped up everything I could find. I have most of the state PDFs from Handgunlaw saved to Dropbox so I can access wherever, though what lets me down is the fact I can't keep the various state laws straight.

Loving the Open Carry stories from NV and looking forward to the day I can give the liberals in my city a headache.

I say we have to be careful with those kinds of petitions. They may be trying to keep us from getting constitutional carry, campus carry etc... As in no new law that would allow these things. I seem to recall these folks have been at several of the DMVs and someone on here did some research and they did not have our interest at heart.

Yeah it's interesting that out of all my friends over there, only one or two seem to be anti-gun. Seems everyone else I know would love to be able to carry. Also interesting that the UK is essentially a two party system like it is here (both sides of the same coin) but that the UKIP party has gained a lot of ground lately. I think a lot of people will only vote for one of the two major parties because they feel if they voted on someone else it would be a wasted vote. However, because UKIP has gained a lot of ground, I think a lot more people would vote for them. Incidentally, UKIP has said they want to give Brits the right to bear arms back. Hopefully, people are beginning to wake up to the fact (both here and there) that the two main parties are essentially two segments of the same platform.

On another note...received the new holster I ordered and only about 70 days till I get to Nevada...can't wait!!!!!
