A few posts ago I let everyone here know that Paul Markel was decided to use his radio show Student of the Gun to misinform the public about the activities of some open carriers. He put out a video stating that activists were walking around the zoo with Tavors and other rifles and shotguns.
After I and others got on his Facebook feed and pointed out that there were no rifles at the zoo, just empty holsters he dug in his heels and insulted those trying to point out the facts to him.
Today he used his radio show to address open carry again. He insulted the OCT guys who were photographed at Chipotlies and he stated that the guy carrying a rifle at the Atlanta airport was demonstrating for the right to open carry pistols. And of course he mentioned the zoo at least twice including saying that the zoo is not the place to carry your Travor.
Then he goes into listing those things he thinks which to him are much more important than fighting for open carry rights or educating others about the rights they have to carry.
I used to b a supporter of Student of the Gun had hoped to travel to Mississippi to attend a defensive pistol class of his. Not any more.

Link to the radio show- https://www.studentofthegunradio.com/final-word-on-open-carry-5-issues-that-are-more-important/
With 'friends' like that ...........:(

I was going to comment on FB on some of this assertions but after reading HIS comments and webpage it became obvious that it would serve no purpose. His problem, as Ronald Reagan would say, is that the knows so many things that are not true. Talking to him would be like arguing with an imbecile at the asylum and just as frustrating. And he seems to have an unhealthy fixation on Travers.

All in all I have nothing positive to say about the guy and that has nothing in particular to do with the zoo stuff. Rather, the zoo stuff just put him on my radar sufficiently to guarantee I avoid him in the future and advise all my friends to do likewise.

That guy clearly has some hatred for how others carry, IOW do it my way or I am going to call you names. He makes Yeager seem like a nun, what a feminine cleansing product canoe.

When it is an assault on one's eyes and intellect, how does the use of an oral hygiene product make it more palatable? No, no, never mind - please don't answer that.

If any high-and-mighty-I-think-I'm-God security officer tried to approach and detain me at a zoo while I was legally carrying my twin 'widow makers', I would have treated it like any other attempted kidnapping or unlawful imprisonment. That is to say, it wouldn't have been pretty for them.

You might want to learn the laws in Missouri a little better before visiting the Zoo then.

Is that directed toward me? If so, you're right I don't know Missouri laws because I'm not from that great state. I do know, however, common sense. And common sense dictates you better be ready to rock and roll in a gated area housing hundreds of deadly animals. I don't think I need to tell you what could happen if some drunken zookeeper forgets to lock the lion's cage, do I?

uh, wild dog, wow...'widow makers'. really?

uh, presenting an active threat on a public forum?

uh, you might need to relax a bit and reassess your bravado as it could be construed incorrect by some...

ps...drunken zookeeper, where is the popcorn or skittles when i need them!!

My apologies. I admit, after reading the OP's first post I allowed my emotions to get the better of me and shot from the hip. I wasn't intending to make threads or spout off keyboard bravado, I suppose I was just trying to lend support to a fellow brother in arms, admittedly in a heavy handed manner.

weapons retention training, the only thing i'm going to mention, however if they are approaching you and calmly asking you to leave and not being complete D-bags, then it is in everyones best interest, including your own, to simply leave and file a civil rights violation lawsuit.

if they are being D-Bags it is still in your best interest to just leave, and respond calmly and cooly so as not to provide an exscuse for any use of force that could be construed as self defense on their part.

you are really making me wonder if an aggression and intelligence assessment should be required before the purchase of a gun is allowed.. this is rather critical considering I'd rather Promote individual rights regardless, but I get a severe feeling you are a very dangerous individual to the public at large when in possession of firearms.

Gotta amend 2A for that idea.

Meh, I smelled troll on his "sleeve gun" thread and actually wrote a response raising the probability but decided not to post it and let it play out. It played. He's gone. So about that zoo....

Yes, the thorn has been removed from OCDO's paw with the former user's help.

Now hopefully we can get back to the unimpeded conversation of empty holsters and/or guns in the St. Louis zoo.

Well,,,

I arrived at 1:00 and stood under an umbrella near the entrance. Almost immediately a process server gave me an envelope containing the TRO paperwork.

found this vidio posted in general discussion.
only now that I watch and listened to it all,
realizing that it IS from the zoo meet!
surprised that it was never posted in any of the Zoo threads...

OCDO thread Interesting video of someone harassing an open carrier.

OR watch it at UTUBE so you can read the comments!

"man openly carrying pistol harassed at st. louis zoo"
just copy/paste this title,,,,its in there...

Any update? Legal assistance needed?

Any updates?

Last I understood, a reply brief needed to be filed by mid-August, and uncertain if legal assistance was available to ensure that a reply would be filed.

Would hate to see Zoo win by default because of no reply.

Have law degree, but not admitted to practice in MO. Would be willing to offer "friendly advice" to help ensure a reply is filed.

Per post #178, understand BB62 not posting anymore in this thread.

PM to BB62?

PM would probably be the best course of action for contact.

as to what is going on with it, I am unaware as he has not updated his post about the legal filings.

OK, so there's the possibility that he's a liar. So what? Does that change the fact that the Zoo was still ready willing and able to violate the rights of normal LAC's? No. All he did was alert us to the situation. Ok, great. Now we marginalize him, shove anything to do with him to the side, and continue on fighting for our rights.
