Charlie 12 (Bill) mentioned Tom Ed McHugh in association with Risk Management, Inc.
Ole Tom Ed used to be mayor of Baton Rouge.
One day the mailman brought me a tax bill renewal for my occupational license, $360.00. This was a tax most Baton Rougeans didn't pay, as they work for someone else. If you dare to go into business for yourself and HOPE to succeed, they penalize you in the form of a tax.
This upset me soooooooooo much, I took them 360,000 pennies, took me four trips to get them all to the fourth floor of the governmental building.
They refused to take them. Tom Ed and his thug showed up, the cop/thug said, and I quote, "you have 10 minutes to get yourself and your pennies out of MY building."
The TV crew from WBRZ caught it via scanner, THEY showed up and filmed me hauling all my pennies out the building.
It appeared on the 5pm news. Since Tom Ed refused to accept my pennies, little did he know I no longer owed the tax. On the SIX PM news, the newscaster had talked to Tom Ed, now Tom Ed wanted me to bring back my pennies, which I did.
True story. It's been all over the internet years ago, forgot all about it till Bill reminded me.

Aaahhh .... OK, I had seen a brief story about that but didn't know all the details. When penneys was mentioned I assumed something had happened while you were shopping at a JC Penneys store.

I knew wwho Ed McHugh was but didn't know the full story until now. Thanks.

I put that cite in my letter to him, apparently I also needed to explain that it meant that there's no such thing as a "confidential settlement" for a public body.

Did you contact the mayor as you did the Chief of Police?

It seems the mayor is the one to whom the FOIA request should go (following Mike's wording).

I got a job with a two-hour commute each way when my layoff severance ran out, so I haven't paid much attention to this issue lately. Maybe someone who actually lives in Louisiana could pick up the ball.
