i might consider opening my doors for the destination. anybody wanting to stick around and drink around a fire can bring a tent and camp. i only have 2 acres of grass, but i'm sure we can fit a couple tents in there somewhere. LOL

What part of Wisc you at again?

My Glock 30 is specifically designed for riding:

Does that mean it will leak oil and overheat now? :p

I do not oc while riding. It is in my hard bags or under my armored jacket. 99% in the bags as I have been high sided once and after that experience I don't want a chunk of steel rammed into my lower back when I hit the ground. Thank God for the armor I have.

my primary concern these days is; are those Cheeseburgers in the saddle bags warm and safe?
Knowing you, you probably have an insulated saddlebag specifically to keep them comfy, if you ever have a time where they have to travel, instead of being eaten immediately.

 What's with that rear sight? Doesn't look like a stock one.

Silly boy, you don't oil Glocks...
Well, not much anyway.

You can easily spend as much as a bike costs on a "ballistic" (word I hate almost as much as "tactical") jacket, pants, boots, gloves, and helmet.
My helmet cost as much as my current motorcycle.
My winter riding suit cost several hundred $ more, but was a gift.
(Now mind you, my current ride is a 1970's Yamaha 400...)
The summer riding jacket/pants [ballistic nylon mesh] I think were about $300 together.
Gloves from Menard's, boots I think were from an Army surplus store.

I think most riders are going to sacrifice safety for cost, comfort, and appearance
Not this one! I'd rather sweat a bit more or have messy hair than deal with massive scar tissue from road rash (scar tissue doesn't sweat) or TBI.

Ever read about Brittany Morrow, a.k.a. the Road Rash Queen?
Here's her story, with one picture.
Here's a video.
Here are more pictures.
Pretty girl, at least her face (which had a full-face helmet); a sizable portion of the rest of her is permanently scarred because she crashed while not wearing appropriate safety gear.
I don't want to go through what she did. But it's your body, your choice.

But back to the topic of the thread... I rode back from Delavan last Sunday with my citrus shooter OWB @ appendix, & it worked OK for me.
Based on my admittedly limited sample of crashes (thank goodness) I don't think that's a likely spot to hit, & it's squishier than anywhere from 3:00 - 9:00, so even if I do land on my front I think the damage would be less.
Wouldn't mind trying a shoulder holster if I were planning a longer trip, as it seems it would be more comfortable.

Even the thought of a crash on a bike, and my firearm hurting me, well it just makes me laugh...

I have never worn a helmet. I am not 100% sure, but I am thinking the gun on my hip is the least of my concern if I put a bike down.
I am thinking my head popping open on a curb is the thing that will hurt the most...

To each his/her own I guess.

Ride and carry on my friends.

The dichotomy of the sheepdog.

"I carry and train to be ready for anything to protect my family. While hurtling myself through space and time with complete disregard for everything and family"

I don't remember ever calling myself a "sheepdog".

I am just an old man that enjoys what freedoms I do have.:p

According to the DOT data (2010), helmets prevent only an estimated 42% of deaths due to accident. While that is up from 27% in 1987, and 37% in 2005 data the volume of riders is also factored in. With out that increase in volume the percentage is pretty much stagnent. I did not research into the reduction of brain related injury and helmet protection.

As America is all about the freedom to choose, it is your choice to wear a helmet or not to. Now we can carry and not wear a helmet, isnt America great!

I still smoke cigarettes from time to time also.

All hope is lost...

LOL, I quit a little over 2 years ago. I was walking past one of my techs tool boxes today and he had an open pack of KOOL's out. I was VERY tempted but decided it wouldnt be a good idea.
