:p I know some good lawyers. And I know some cheap lawyers. I'm not sure I know any that fit into both groups.

Let us know how it goes. Good luck!

OC'd this afternoon during my normal walk with Glock Girl and mutt to nearby park and around neighborhood streets for 30-40 minutes. Two Madison PD cars passed by during this time and showed no interest-- can't say for sure they noticed my firearm.

Walked the mutt at dusk last night for a few blocks and then back. Evidently my gun did not cause alarm, panic, riot, pants-wetting, police calls, hand wringing, a return to the Wild West, blood in the streets, or the end of civilization as we know it.

We did, however, get a couple of "hello's" from a group of kids who hang out on bikes in the area who usually say nothing to us. :D

Mini lesson: I had two words for him. He seemed amazed.

I was walking out of Woodmans East a couple of days ago in a bit of a hurry to get home to supper. I detected a guy a few paces behind me heading for the exit at the same time. He called out, "Are you a security guard?"

I said "Nope!"

He said, "You mean you can just legally wear a firearm?"

I said "Yup!"

He said "Well..... whadda you know....!!"

I found it interesting to read old posts in this thread dated 2008 and 2009....

Some had the beleif that OC anywhwere would get you arrested... just for OC"ing..

Now OC witout fear of arrest (for just OC'ing) is pretty much common knowledge...

We have come a long way... (with an even longer way to go)....

You're right about those old posts. Those trolls like "Bunker" slid back under the rocks from which they came. We have come a long way in the past couple of years. Fortunately there are a number of people in Wisconsin who are not afraid to stand up for our rights-- often at the cost of public and private scorn, unwarranted arrest, and an investment of their money. Event organizers and workers (hats off to Hubert for being the first to risk showing that a large public OC event can be a success in WI); those who had unpleasant encounters with police, including arrest, yet did not waver from the righteousness of the cause; lawyers willing to represent us; people attending public meetings; open-minded journalists; and most of all just men an women who simply exercise their right to bear arms as they go about their daily business. We also owe a thanks to those enlightened public officials who have sided with "the good guys"-- AG Van Hollen, judges who have ruled in our favor, district attorneys who refused to partake in ill-advised persecutions and prosecutions of gun carriers, supportive police and sheriffs, city council members and legislators.

All have contributed tremendously to educate the police, the courts, and a skeptical public. The guy I encountered the other day shows there still is a skeptical segment of the public, but that segment is continuing to grow smaller thanks to everyone's efforts. Slowly but steadily you all have continued to educate the public at large and those in public positions of responsibility. Our opponents rely completely on ignorance and its accompanying fear. Education is the key to everything we hope to get.

Now we stand on the brink of an even bigger success for all the hard work: elimination of the most onerous, repressive and downright silly infringements--- vehicle carry, school zone prohibition, concealed carry restrictions, et al. If we keep up our efforts, I have no reason to doubt that our successes will continue at the high rate we have enjoyed and in two more years we'll be able to look back at even greater liberties we've won and on to new challenges.
