I wonder if this is one of the same BK managers that called the cops on KimberGuy in Jackson? Good job. It is clear they were not in fear of you.

On topic OCing right now :D

OC'd all over the place the last few days.... no problems at all. Most folks that notice don't bother to take a second look. Just from personal experience over the last year I'd say (and what I say is worth exactly what you paid for it) that OC's public acceptance level is extremely high.

Well, I've been OCing for nearly a year now and today was my first verbal acknowledgement/encounter. I stopped by Meijer in Okemos on the way home from work to pick up a few things. At the self check line the clerk came up to me to key in his code, then as he walked away I asked him if he had a wine tote bag. He came back with one, handed it to me, and turned away. He then turned back again and approached me a third time and said, "Excuse me, what does your shirt say?" I turned to face him and showed him. I was wearing this white polo with grey dress slacks.

"Opencarry dot org. Oh." he said, smiling. "My niece and her husband just got their concealed licenses, and they let me shoot their snub-nosed 38. That was the first time I shot a handgun." Yeah, those small revolvers are not the easiest guns to shoot, I say. Real short sight radius. He keeps talking about shooting, and I was kinda wishing we were somewhere else so I could unholster mine as a talking point, but I didn't figure coonfingering a loaded Five-seveN in Meijer was a good idea. But someone came up to him with a question and he left.

I've talked to people in stores and restaurants all over the area before while OCing many times, but either they've not noticed or ignored it. Walked past LEOs without a word. This was the first acknowledgement I've ever had. Which is good. :)

Wow. Were you in a known drug area? :p Pretty unusual to be stopped just walking down the sidewalk.

I should do that, because the alternative is to cut firewood with a chainsaw, then stain and install floor baseboard.

there isnt really any drug areas in Holt, idk why...might have been looking for someone wanted he originally thought i looked like but didnt look close enough to keep harassing....might've been bored and looking for a chat, might have purely been harassment related.

if ya come, just ask how to get to the militia event...they should be able to point ya there. i think its at the liberty shelter

should be at least one or two regulars on here other than me going

Eastern Market VERY OC friendly

i had a positive experience while shopping with my wife and daughter this morning in the eastern market.
http://www.detroiteasternmarket.com/
i had been shopping for half an hour or so when i heard a quiet, "how you doing?" from behind me. my first thought was, "oh great, here we go again." i was thinking i was going to be asked to cover up or leave, but the gentleman who stopped me was very cool. he just said, "practicing open carry?" he wasn't security, but he was wearing an eastern market shirt and i think he had a radio. i said, "yes, er, actually, not practicing, i open carry every day". he smiled and laughed and said "we're glad to have you here and support your rights. we just like to check on people to let security know they're ok." i said, "thanks for your professionalism" and he replied, "i'm a big second amendment supporter" as he walked away. he was very calm and professional, i wish all OC experiences were like that. we shopped for about 3 hours and went into many of the surrounding businesses. no one else noticed or said anything. we came home with a large selection of wonderful local produce.

OC'd at home (like usual) while my youngest son and family visited and while we were outside in the front yard Democrat Susan McInerney District 4 County Commissioner running for re-election walked into the yard to campaign...

When I asked what her position was on the right to bear arms she replied (paraphrased because I don't wish to fiddle around posting verbatim from the recording) that she supported the 1st Amendment and that she thought everyone should be able to carry a guy as long as they were trained in basic gun safety first. Yooperlady corrected her about which Amendment was the right to bear arms... and all our arguments concerning requiring training being an infringement upon the actual right fell on deaf ears. Even when I mentioned that requiring training would put a financial burden on a mother of 3 kids with a stalker exhusband leaving her with the decision to pay for training or to buy winter coats for her kids..... was met with Ms. McInerney's solution that free training could be provided.

-sigh-

Spotted my first OC'er today, it was in Dearborn Heights, he was pushing a stroller north on Telegraph, between McD's and Mickeys dairy twist. Anybody from here, I was turning the corner on a Harley as you approached the corner.
Salt and pepper Crew cut? That would be my buddy Frank.

OC'd Saturday at Walmart. Dropped off car for an oil change. Went and had breakfast/lunch (I guess they call that "brunch") with the wife and kid at Brian's Restaurant. Then we all went to Hair Cutz to get our ears lowered. After that, picked up the car and went home. All businesses in Burton.

While waiting to get my haircut a fellow sitting next to me asked if I ever have any problems OCing. I said, "not sot far." He said that he knew a few cops and that they didn't have a problem with it. That was about the extent of our conversation.
