So let's put out some examples for those that are having a hard time wrapping their heads around this idiotic law.

In any of these situations, would a background check be required, beginning on 12/4/14?

1. Can I give my friend a gun if they are fearful of a home invasion?
2. Can my friends and I go out to the hills and shoot each other's guns?
3. Can I borrow my buddy's rifle to go hunting with my grandpa?
4. Can I fondle my buddy's new 1911 purchase?
5. Can I sell my "extra" gun to my buddy who's been looking to add to his collection?
6. Can I loan my compact to my buddy who wants his wife to shoot it at a range?
7. Can my too-drunk buddy, who I'm picking up from a bar, give me his gun that's locked in his car because he doesn't trust the car to be safe overnight?
8. A good friend died, and was an avid firearm collector. Upon passing, he bequeaths 4 shotguns from the 60s and 2 revolvers from 1978 to me. What do I do?

Well, none of my friends have neck tattoos, and I don't live in Florida, so I assume...

According to the law, yes to all, but hey what they don't know, they don't know.

Without a complete gun registration scheme this law falls flat on it's stupid face. So the state can go piss up a rope.

Now wouldn't that require YOU to be sane for you to be able to make a logical conclusion. Any you're not a psychologist, right ? Or have been examined by a psychologist within the last hour, right?

After all ... its ... sane .. sane .. sane .. CRAZY !!!!!!!!!!!

Let's leave the tit for tat personal references outside - they add nothing of merit to the thread.

I apologize grape I know I started that. I was sincerely joking/kidding with him. I was a friendly jab and I hope he understood that (think he did). I'll cease fire though.

No personal reference made or intended to any particular user.

My time is stretched thin in reviewing threads/posts due to the HUGE attempt by certain mal-intended attempts at registering here. Make no mistake, we are under attack - see Spam-O-Matic Statistics just below Currently Active Users on the main page. Those figures have been confirmed as authentic!

Bottom line - we need everyone's cooperation in providing self moderation, especially true right now.

It may be hard for the State to enforce at this time, as it will be difficult to prove beyond reasonable doubt that a firearm was sold post I-594. However it will not be that way forever. Every gun has a serial number and LEA will be able to use said number to get the manufacture date of the firearm.

We really need you guys to make this be the complete CF it looks like. They turn in their signatures here next week to attempt to put it on the Nevada ballot. If they manage to pull it off, we'll be able to point to your failure when it comes time to vote.

when you guys start campaigning against it, don't waste time with rallies or sign waving or any of that ****.

you really need to hit the phone banks. get the NRA database for NV and call every single gun owner and get them to vote. part of the reason we lost here is that many gun owners didn't know how bad 594 was and voted for it, or didn't vote at all.

looks like your bill is even worse than 594. i really feel for you guys.

Really, it won't be hard .. most folks get their guns via a FFL ... paper trail established. And most people will "spill the beans" on themselves upon examination.

Not every gun has a ser. # though ... ones that a citizen builds has none, nor is it required.
And older guns may not have any.

Start building your own guns.

And if everyone who disliked the initiative refused to convict, then the law would be moot.

Preaching to the choir members isn't going to stop it. Didn't you learn anything from Washington? Make a TV commercial showing an actor in a police uniform at a desk with a stack of forms. The camera zooms in and the officer looks up and says, "I would rather be out on the street chasing criminals, but I have a thousand background checks to do on people who are following the law. This is why you need to vote against I-###."

Or the camera shows a group of women in a self defense class learning with the instructor telling them how many crimes have been stopped with the use of the firearm. A woman student turns around properly holding an unloaded gun and says, "I have to get a background check just to take this class and learn how to use a gun to defend myself with. Why should the police be required to spend their time and resources investigating me just so I can learn how to defend myself when they could be stopping the criminal that I might have to use this tool to defend myself against?"

Or a 19 year old girl standing at a private shooting area watching her dad shoot. She says, "Daddy, can I learn how to shoot your gun in case someone breaks into our house when you are gone and tries to rape me?" Daddy turns to the camera and says, "No, sweetie, I'm sorry, I can't teach you how to shoot my gun because you have to have a background check first before I can loan it to you."

You won't win the fight by calling gun owners.

I really like the last one; shows how overreaching I-594 is into the lives of armed Law-Abiding Citizens or law-abiding citizens in general.

You can bet the WAC private sellers will jack up the prices between now and Dec 4th, I already noticed some higher prices ON ARMSLIST.

Not necessarily so. I just got back from the Monroe WAC show specifically to guage the overall post election climate, and to see if it was a buyers or sellers market. Prices didn't seem to be out of line with what they regularly are. As a matter of fact, they weren't anywhere near the post Newtown prices. There was plenty of discussion going on at nearly every table regarding 594, and displeasure with the NRA's apparent lack of support for us.
