I was a victim of a felony crime tonight.

Since there is a fully marked patrol car also I would say he knew what was going on.

Notice that as the patrol car is rolling up, the officer is looking at the patrol car and turning to the side to put his gun away.....

But you should read up on the story, it's interesting how he gets his house raided over that video he took.

Ok, well next time I will not accuse someone of impersonating a police officer until they walk up to my window and put to a gun to my head. I am sure at that point I will have the best reaction time and do some crazy stuff from all those kung fu movies. Probably launch and start drifting around corners too.

All that joking aside, seriously, this might have been the start of a crime, just because he didn't pull through with it, doesn't mean he didn't have the intentions.

I agree..

We all know what he was 'trying to do', but the question is, can you prove it, and does it fall under the letter of the law.

Under RCW, having red/blue lights in your car is a traffic offense.. a ticket.. Newer LED's are clear when off, so there is no telling of the color of the illumination. FURTHER, there are new LED's on the market that have MULTIPLE colors... I could set up a car and say 'see, only amber!', and flip a switch, and they become red/blue....

I never said they were magic cars, I said that they probably don't have the fuel cut off switch in the trunk. The fuel shut off switch is easily tripped. If an officer has to cross an interstate median, it would most likely trip the switch. The switch in my mother's car was tripped from hitting a pothole too fast.

The P71's do have a different ECM then the standard Crowns.

www.crownvic.net has more information then what anyone needs to know about these cars.

You're preaching to the choir here.....

The P71's use the SAME PCM (it controls the powertrain, not just the engine) albeit programmed to have a higher idle point, slightly different A/F mixture ratios, and different shift timing (more agressive).. There is nothing 'special' about the PCM other than a few minor settings...

The biggest difference is the RAR, which is 2.73 for stock civvy vics, available in 3.27 for the LX and LX sport..... The Police Interceptors came stock with either a 3.27 or 3.55 (depending on the year and ordering code).

Stock civvies have single exhaust with dual exhaust optional, where P71s come standard with dual...

I'm a major contributor to CVN... :D

Situations like this happen all the time and is exactly why all patrol cars should be required to be marked. LE should not pull people over for traffic violations in unmarked cars period, ever. I for one will not pull over for an unmarked car..

Actually, they WERE required to be marked.....

A guy RAN from a REAL unmarked car.....

The case got thrown out because he (correctly) stated that the law required him to yield to red/blue lights, but only STOP for FULLY MARKED cars......

The case was thrown out, and he was convicted of failure to yield instead of fleeing and eluding... The legislature then removed the requirement that police cars be 'fully marked'...

I have seen an unmarked silver Dodge Magnum with cars pulled over several times between Seattle and Federal Way.
No antennae, no WSP-XXX license plate. Nothing marked.

There are 3 types of exempt plate used by LE (for the most part)

Normal issue (exempt) standard exempt nomenclature or WSP tag....

An 'undercover plate'

"An undercover license plate record will show fictitious names and addresses on all department records subject to public disclosure."

and a 'Confidential plate'.

" A confidential license plate record will show the government agency name and address on all department records subject to public disclosure."

Update

As techno said earlier, this guy might be getting the jollies and doing this over and over. How jolly? The guy posted it on facebook with good details a day before this happened to me. Yup, he "pulled over" some other guy and posted it on facebook laughing about it. I'm meeting with a seatac officer tomorrow or so and giving them the screenshot of the facebook comments and name and address of where the idiot lives. *yes, I actually now know where he lives*.

Nope, didn't get his license plate, the friend I was yelling on the phone with, knows a bunch of people around the area through his old high school and has a bunch on facebook added....this guy was one of them and he saw it and showed me. He thought it was a different guy that tracks his crown vict down at pacific raceways but it turns out it's a different guy who thinks this is funny stuff doing this to other people.
