Beat me to it, thank you. It IS downright insulting to insinuate that anyone who doesn't reload is basically wasting their time. I barely have an hour of down time at home every night before I have to be in bed to do it all over again. Days off aren't any better. This is what really put me off with the reloading crowd. This mentality that they can't understand why it just isn't a practical option for EVERYONE, that those who don't are some how silly, amateurish, or just below them. It's a great thing if you have the mental and financial capital to invest in it in the first place, AND the TIME even to get that far. That's what you're trading. Doesn't work for everyone.

Yes, reloading crowd. Kinda like the "glock" crowd or the ".45 crowd" or any other crowd that thinks THEIR way is the ONLY way and anyone who doesn't do it their way is worthy of, at best, condescension.

Well I didn't know there was such a crowd. Where do I register for this crowd? You sound just as bad as what you are claiming.

Reloading is not only a hobby, it is way to save literally thousands of dollars over a lifetime. If it is not for you, it is not for you, you sound jealous though.

BTW those boxes of ammo were loaded by commercial loading crowds. God didn't create it. If you want to pay triple or more for ammo, that you have to work to pay for that is OK with me. Just more range brass for me. A thousand rounds of .45 costs me maybe a little over $100, how much does it cost you?

You forgot the CC only crowd. Which is arguably the worst when it comes to being condescending.

I do not, and you have just proved my point. Your response is utterly dripping with condescension and superiority, as was your first blurb in this thread. Whereas I said quite plainly that reloading can be a good option for those who can make the time trade off, you obviously think you're better than those who can't. Or won't. Or you wouldn't be responding with such open hostility.

It seems you see what you want to see rather than reality. Seems that is causing your seeing hostility, maybe you should check a mirror.

I find it interesting that people will claim "no time" and then make comments like "Drove all over the north end Wednesday (while looking for ammo).

Apparently they have more time than they really think. Also money. Not only are they willing to pay more for their ammo but waste the gasoline to go find it.

Yes, "Reloading" is just like the .45 cal crowd and the CC crowd. You get to choose what you want. Just because someone points out an alternative doesn't make them condescending.

Just like the famous line in the move Gone with the Wind, "Frankly, {insert your name here} I don't give a damn".

Oh, by the way, a typical "drive around the North End usually consumes about the same amount of time necessary to load a box, or several, rounds of ammo for just about any caliber. For the "family man", you'd be amazed at how many generations have been raised helping out "Dad" or "Granddad" while reloading. They go on to reload themselves as they grow up, in many cases.

Again you're making assumptions. That was a rare day, and ammo hunting was not the primary purpose. First day for a long drive with my wife we've been able to feneggle in a LONG time. So NO, I'm not going to spend a special day like that sitting around reloading. Yes, I do have more money than time. Time cannot be bought, ammo can. Others with a time crunch will have similar reasons.

Once again you & WalkingWolf are putting it out there that YOUR way is the only way, and anyone who does otherwise is silly. THAT is the crucial attitude point you two seem to keep missing.

Did you miss the part where I suggested that people just do what they like?

Funny how some can feel free to express THEIR opinion and when someone else expresses a contrary opinion it's time to assign "attitudes".

If you don't think reloading is a viable option to looking around for ammo, spending whatever the going price is for whatever is available, then GREAT.

For those that are looking for an alternative to high prices, shortages, or even just want a hobby. then reloading certainly is an option.

I will say that I don't expect any personal ammo shortage for several years, if then. But then I haven't purchased any factory ammo for years and years either.

BTW, we all have the same amount of time, 24 hours in each day. It's just what you choose to do with it that differs.

Back in the old days, when my children were young my children enjoyed helping me reload. Sometimes they sorted cases, or trimmed cases. For the pistol calibers they even enjoyed sizing. I never allowed them around while casting though, too much chance for burns.

Not once have we put it out there that it is the only way. Please back up your statement with a quote, because it is a outright lie. If you don't want to reload then don't. But then don't pisss on somebody else who might be interested with your chip on the shoulder.

Any ways.....

3 box limit seems a tad annoying to me.

If I do see ammo that is on sale I will go there a few times to get it.

I mainly look on line. Just when you think there is nothing out there a site pops up that has stock.
Then next days they post the sign they are catching up. LOL....

I have looked at reloading, but I read and hear brass is very hard to come by.
I got a brass catcher for my rifle and a contact who will give me a good deal on reloads with the brass I save.

So............................

There seems to be a lot of .40 cal range brass. One of the gun shops I go to has a 50 gallon barrel about half full of .40 range brass. 9mm brass seems to be available also, I think it just depends on what the LE departments are using.

Of course this entire thread is based off a title that is incorrect. The sign reads 6 items. At an average of let's say $15/box (pre shooting prices) that would be $75 a day per customer plus tax. Reload if you choose, buy and stock up over time (my method) or panic buy....the choice is yours.

IMO this panic will pass and ammo will again be available without hassle. I doubt prices go down much though, just the way it is.

Glad I bulked up when I did.
So of my ammo is just getting sent after about 2mo delay. LOL...

I paid Pre-Panic prices for my ammo.

I didn't read the sign at my walmart, I just asked the clerk in the ammo area, if any new stuff came in this AM, and she said, only 2 boxes of 9mm, (and someone was waiting for them) and then told me that I could only buy 3 boxes anyway, so somehow even their own staff got confused. or there are different polices for different areas?

I was there a couple of days earlier, when 35 boxes of tula steel case 5.56 came in, and she told me to buy all of it, but I only bought 5, leaving 30 for the next guy to buy. I'm okay with shooting steel in my mini, but don't want to shoot it in my AR.

Best

Whats wrong with shooting steel in the AR?
Thought the new Poly coating is safe compared to the lacquer stuff.
