Agreed. As I said earlier...There are some on their site as well as ours that need to "adjust" their attitudes.

"Might?"

Why not take a position on what S357 said?

What's your considered opinion about that, D_Weezy?

Or do you prefer to not express it?

1. Police are an army whose enemy is the People.
I do think a lot of LEOs have an "us against them" attitude. But many do not. I have LEO friends who are not in the "us against them" camp, and they complain about having to work with JBTs. So in my opinion, it is incorrect to say "the Police are an army whose enemy is the People."

2. Police are the greatest enemy America has ever faced.
Hardly. The government is the biggest threat to your liberties, not the police.

3. America would be better off without the police.
If we get rid of the police, we may as well get rid of the laws. (Laws are meaningless if they can't be enforced.) And then we would have anarchy. Is that what you want?

When we see a car pulled over, we need to realize that there is a citizen at risk. We need to start defending each other.
Um, what do you propose we do when we see someone pulled over?

It's time.

For what?

Truth be known it's irrelevant if the dumba$$ "nitrovic" was a former moderator or not. It's folks like him that give us all a hemmoroid. I personally support the job that LEO's do given the restrictions they work under, and I also understand that there's good, and bad in every walk of life. I read the comments on the LE thread and it sounds a lot like comments on this thread. Some are idiots and some are good folks. I would never interfere with an officer in his line of duty work. Just as I would hope that he's performing his duties lawfully. As a truck driver I come in contact with law enforcement officers quite often, because they also enforce the commercial carrier laws. I have YET to have a bad experience, because I show them the respect they are do, and it's generally given back. I have met some with atttitudes, but they are the exception not the norm.
IT is OUR responsibility to "police" OUR own. Just as it's LE's to "police" theirs.
WE will not further our cause by squabling over and posting anti-LE. THEY need to know that 1. We are not a threat. and 2. We are the ones they should know have their backs.
The LE in my little community know that I am on their side and that they have backup should they need it.
Of course, in my little town there's only one police officer on duty at a time, and the County sherrif is only 20 minutes from response yeah, right.
There's no reason, anywhere for it to be an US against them situation. AS long as LE is knowledgeable of our rights and both parties are treated with respect.
I know I'm going to take a lot of flak for this stance but it's the only one I know.
Now, understand that, if in the wee hours of the morning my door were to come crashing in and some BATF or LE was the one doing the crashing in they would be blown back out of the door, and I'd ask questions later. However, this is because, I always know that I've done nothing illegal. But of course that goes for anyone that'd bust down my door. The likelyhood of that happening is slim since i live in the boonies and have several large dogs.
Let's just use the reasoning powers that God gave us and get to the real dispute at hand, the saving of our Republic. As Ben Franklin commented to the question posed him from a woman at the conclusion of the signing of the Constitution. When asked sir, what did you give us? he answered " A republic, if you can keep it"

... to all those who support LEO's and the jobs they have - we respect the difficulty of your profession, understand that that like any profession there are good and bad, those with agenda's and those who act professionally.

... to all those who act out in and with aggression - we carry to protect our indvidual rights; in the protection of our families and loved ones - and for those who may need such protection.

... to those who wish to "overthrow" be it the government, the "evil-doers" the "bad-men/women" for the simplistic sake of doing so - in addressing a wanton blood-thirst for violence - shame on you. You "talk" good game, but talk will only get you so far - when action and conviction is necessary. Anyone can hide behind a keyboard and "talk" about doing "this, that or the other...."

Some "mutt" on a police site, spitting anger - is not different than a "mutt" over here doing the same - opposite messages, that are far skewed from norm, in both instances. There's always one in the bunch - whether you are talking about guns/open-carry, the best lawn, better singer, best vehicle manufacture, or OJ.... someone will always take it "there:" when "there" is so far from logic or reasonable thoughts...

Try watching CNN and Fox news.... you can see "differences" on same stories right before your eyes; if you want to go "deep" read the Bible and the Q'uoran.... or even the owner's manual for a Honda versus a Chevy - the gas and brake pedals are in the same general areas....

... enjoy the day off (if you are so fortunate) - spend it on and with family and do something productive - now that I have finished second cup of Joe - I am outta here...

I look at both sides of this and scratch my head in confusion.

First off we do have some police that overstep their boundaries, and do so quite often and take pride in their abhorrent actions.

Then we get people like 357 that are sick of it, and lash out and generalize every police officer with the ones that he was most likely received poor treatment by.

There are flaming A-Holes in all walks of life, and some of them happen to wear uniforms and some do not.

Somepeople posting on o.com are obviously flaming a-holes that trample peoples rights at every chance they get. While others there obviouslydo follow their oath to uphold the constitution!

Maybe we need to take 357, and the bunghole from O.com and put them in a boxing ring with 18oz gloves on and have them go a few rounds together so they can both realize that each other is only human too.

I tend to not trust cops, but that came from some issues witha few that had "jack-booted thug" demeanor.

To the police officers that may be reading this thread, Some of you respect the rights of citizens, others in your trade do not. Many people open-carry simply to show that they will stand up for their rights and are sick of seeing them being eroded away to nothing. Others open-carry because it is their only option due to weather or refusal to pay licensing fees for an inherent right. If you do not want to be named an A-Hole, don't act like one!! Lose the "us against Them" attitude and realize that people have a right to defend themselves, and that right ties in with our 2A rights. I O-C, because that is what I am limited to. Typical police response in my area is upwards of 30-45 minutes on a good day. Lets look at the incident with the Milwaukee Mayor; how well did him dialing 911 work out for him? How many other incidents like that happen every minute of every day? Now do you understand why people want the needed tools to protect themselves and their loved ones without needing to rely on a 911 call and police response?

Ahem...Except for a few big cities, mainly NYC, we went a hundred years in this country with no police departments, only sherrifs and constables, and we still had law and law enforcement.

Just sayin...

I have banned Smoking357 for his continuous anti-LEO posts on the forum.

I have repeatedly asked that those who wish to pursue an anti-law enforcement agenda go elsewhere to do so. OCDO is about normalizing the open carry of firearms by law abiding citizens and that means co-existence with law enforcement. Occasionally, an officer oversteps his bounds WITH REGARDS TO GUN RIGHTS and then we work to address that issue via complaints, training bulletins and lawsuits where necessary. But that is the extent of our bias against law enforcement. Got it People????????

I do not believe that anyone can say that Mike and I moderate with a heavy hand. If anything, we are criticized for not moderating enough.

In any case, neither of us have the time to allow people the latitude to tap-dance on the edge of the rules any further. I am sick of getting emails from people complaining about a particular poster and I have to wade through 12 pages of discussion to try and fairly determine if that person REALLY went over the line.

The sort answer is this ... if you repeatedly attack other posters or hijack threads or are just a complete ***hole to everyone, then you may be next.

Play nice ... talk about open carry, or guns or holsters, or any other politically advantageous topic for gun rights ... but stop the LEO bashing!

In my opinion there is little difference between the guy on the officer forumand smoking357. Smoking357 paints all LEOs with a broad brush based upon the illegal behavior of a few and the poster on that forum paints all of us with the same broad brush based on smoking357's comments. Neitherpresent a completelyrational view although both have some valid points which lend them credibility. Both enjoy the controversy their remarks generate. As to the sincerity of their views that is anybody's guess but based on their behavior it is pretty obvious that they sincerely love stirring the pot.

I didn't mean to start a war or get anybody banned by submitting this thread. I honestly confused Reno229 with nitrovic. Nitrovic starts thread after thread on officer.com condemning the membership here.

We have to remember that officer.com has no verification process whatsoever. So anybody and everybody can post there and pretend to be a cop. Several of the other cop sites have what they think is a foolproof verification process, and it does weed out some imposters, but it is far from foolproof also. Even Nitrovic quotes himself as not currently being a real cop in the link I posted while he's talking about why he deleted all the wording in his posts here on OC. He sure had everybody here fooled.

So, when you see a "cop" say anything in a forum that makes your blood boil, it could very well not be a real cop. The chances are pretty good that it could be some15 year old kid sitting in his mommy's basement in his underwear watching COPS reruns on TV.

Bad cops are bad. Good cops are good. To me, it's a simple theory and thereby implicit. Broad brushing rarely makes sense.

Don't sweat it Sheriff.....You didn't start anything.

It's one thing when a conversation here gets heated, but its quite another when the attacks start. Some of us can get pretty passionate here (myself included).

Or a Provocatuer.

It has been stated on this forum that LE needs to police their own. I think it is only fitting that WE police ourselves when appropriate, as well.

I posted on another thread about "reputation" and how it can affect whether others respect us or not. As a group, our reputation can be tarnished by associating with only a few "bad apples" within our ranks, unless we cull those that bring dishonor to the group, as a whole.

We will never agree 100% on any issue, that is a given. But expressing opposing POV does not have to be a bad thing. How we do it, can be. So let's keep the discussions civil. We're not little kids playing in a sandbox, anymore.

You didn't do anything Sheriff. Smokin'whatever did it to himself as he did on the Florida carry board several months ago, as he's done on SEVERAL forums over the years, a slightly deeper dig into Google results in a number of forums covering a variety of topics that he's trolled, inflamed and been banned. It's as I've said for months now regarding him, he does this for kicks, not for anything more "noble" that he states. He finds things that he knows will irritate, spews them, then gets indignant, insulting or just plain silly whenever someone calls him out about it. If he were truly honest about who he is and his motives, I could tolerate him. But, I have no patience for someone who's only motives is to agitate and insult to get a reaction.

He was warned multiple times before being banned over at the Florida board, apparently he was warned even more patiently here. He's got no one to blame but himself. Now, maybe this forum can go back to serving a purpose again instead of being a troll-fest as he's decidedly the tip of that spear.

You can bet though, that he'll pop up on yet ANOTHER gun typeboard withloads of kind words to say about OC.org. dodging his own blame as he did coming here after being banned previously....:quirky Don't worry though, it actually backfires on him. Everytime he tried to blast FloridaConcealedCarry here, their membership jumped. I always thought it was halarious.

The truth is that neither smoking357 nor Nitrovic has ever contributed anything beyond empty rhetoric and self important posturing.

Now smoking357 wants us to believe whatever he says without evidence, much less proof. I'm not interested in a religion, nevermind one with him as its megalomaniacal prophet.

As for Nitrovic, he's just a low IQ bully. He can contact the FBI, or he can contact the Justice League of America for all I care. Nobody with two braincells to rub together would lend a word he says an iota of credibility.

There is a key difference between nitrovic and S357, however.

S357 will not narc out your website to the FBI, as nitrovic says he did.

Nor will you ever have to worry about having to meet S357 in a traffic stop and be subject to his objectionable personality under color of law.
