The vast majority of traffic fatalities are caused by unsecured objects getting tossed around in a vehicle. A steel revolver that's fully loaded would surely be quite a head thumper if you were to get into a collision... If anything, I think I would keep it in the console or glove box, if you are comfortable not having it directly on hand. Laying on the seat can be a hazard, though. I'm surprised the officer mentioned that, as the traffic cops I know were always quick to point out how many things in my truck would kill me :lol:
