I open carry a lot. I am more aware of my surroundings because of this. Sometimes I conceal just for the simple fact that a confrontation would be absolutely imminent. Take Blue Bayou Water Park/Dixieland Highland/I-10, for instance. After spending an entire long weekend there not once did I notice a No Weapons rule. There are billboards all over saying no bad language, no low riding pants, this is a family park, etc.. They are kind enough to provide lockers for my weapon(for a fee), but what about open carry? I think they would s**t! The metal detectors are a joke. They are looking for food! Last time I went inusing Thunderwear carrying a bag. It buzzed and I showed him 2 cellphones in the bag. Have a nice day. I've been thinking about OC on the way out after through for the day. How about it, Mark? Grab the wife and kids, I'll do the same and we'll try it out? Invite that lawyer of yours and bring a voice recorder! Haha!

Funny you should mention Blue Bayou. The grandkids are coming down for a visit and Blue Bayou was on the list of places to take the kids.
Since I don't have/believe in a CWP, I'd have to OC on the way in. The worst they can do (lawfully) is to ask me to leave.

Mark, did you try to carry into Blue Bayou, or blew it off to have an uneventful day? I wouldn't blame you at all. Who wants a scene when spending a fun day with loved ones. I choose my battles wisely, too, I like to think.

I often, silently thank you for 'straightening' out Ascension. When the sirens came for me at Rite Aid Gonzales, they were freshly informed about open carry from you at Tanger. Uneventful. They were knowledgeable at Prairieville Flea market, too. I know it was because of you.

Thanks....

The grandkids haven't come down yet. I'm pretty sure we're going there and I WILL open carry on the way in. Again, the worst they can do is ask me to put it away or call the cops, who can only ask me to leave at worst. Since I am not violating any "laws", it's no biggie. I wish someone would call Gonzales PD and ask them if they know know open carry is lawful.

It's been years, now, and I don't still have it, but, I once emailed Wileyabout open carry and he said it was totally OK!! I remember asking if it was OK and that I did not intend to brandish or disturb the peace. He said no problem. I wish I still had it, but it was a long time ago. I wish I had it for your case. Anyway, I hope we can meet someday....

Bill Landry is retiring at the end of the year. No successor has been mentioned yet. Since it's an elected position, I'm not sure if a special election will be held or if the law allows someone to be appointed. You know?
If you read "disturbing the peace," you may be surprised as to how it actually reads ! I'm in Gonzales regularly, got a daughter there. Maybe I need to let ya'll know when we'll be in town to visit.
Yea, I work on the computer, check in on lots of sites in between. Where have you spotted me? Moderator? LOL, not me, thank you. Maybe Instigator !!

I heard Bill's family just sold a lot of land for big money I guess he doesn't need to work now.

Too bad Mark can't get some of that money for the illegal arrest.
